Life / How could things have gone so wrong (Poland church dress code) [195]

So therefore, why was I judged so harshly???

Because the congregation thought you were dressed inappropriately and only you thought that she was.

If mealtimes are regulated, Barney, then there is a rule for it :) :)

You gotta eat sometime:)

No, he hadnt quite risen on Saturday, again read ur Bible

OK, you didnt make that clear you said Easter.................the feast of the ressurection.

Do you read ur Bible Barnster??

Got the DVD.
Is this thread about the ultimate arbiter of scripture?

She should have bben wearing a knee lenth skirt, not looking like she had just left a disco.

There you go dictating what someone should wear. She may have been dressed inappropriately and if no one else complained then the problem lies in your judgement of her.

during the time we commemorate the death of our Lord Jesus,

Surely the resurrection no?

Its another case of Catholics throwing the Bible out of the window

Very odd

All the while, 2 pews across from me was sat a woman who I can only describe as being dressed like a S**t, as the weather dictated.

Its normal for women to have bare legs yet still dress appropriately. You are judging her while criticising others for judging you.

News / "Poland: a country getting to grips with being normal at last" [23]

Rest of article here.

TGA is a good commentator on Poland, he speaks the language knows the history and cultural life, I have quoted him a number of times here and always got favourable comments (from Polish people in Poland) on his opinion.

I read the articles today and they do "what it says on the tin".

Law / The monopolisation of Polands precious food industry [15]

Btw- did you know that rising chicken has had its come back in the USA?

It has also came back in the UK, even pigs are beginning to become popular.

Yeah it cost a lot, there is a company that sells a thing called an egglue for about £500, they are branching out into bee keeping equipment all for the back garden.

No one has told the customers that with chickens come rats, it's unavoidable, and ruinously expensive. WB is correct the eggs taste so much better from a sustainable source with content hens.

What would be good in Poland would be the introduction of local co-operative distilleries. Local people bring their fruit and get a percentage of it back as alcohol, it works very well in Germany and France. Doing this gives a value to fruit trees, helping to preserve the local countryside, doesn’t cost anything and provides some local jobs. There is also the possibility that "specialist brands" can develop helping to market the local area.

UK, Ireland / How ENGLISH has been affected by POLISH [73]

I solemnly declare it an undisputed contribution of Polish to English.

Yes it is, without getting into a big thing about soil science I thought it may have originated from Russian as other words in this field commonly used in English are Russian. No one except soil scientists would know Redzina as a word but everyone knows Gley as a description for soil and a metaphor. It would be interesting to know how Redzina was chosen as a name for an azonal soil. It’s a description used in the US. Perhaps a Polish American?

Barney, who were those Russians that invented soil science?

Vasily Vasil'evich Dokuchaev is commonly regarded as the father of pedology, the study of soils in its natural setting. He developed soil science in Russia, and was, perhaps the first person to make wide geographical investigations of different soil types. His great contribution to science was, literally, to "put soils on the map".

News / Poland - Third World Country?? [300]

I am pretty sure there was no Russia from 1922 to 1991.

It was one of the 15 republics of the USSR that had an external border or coast.

UK, Ireland / Poles in Ireland by Peadar de Burca. They "turned their backs on a country that gave them" [195]

Surely a smart guy like you can see the context of my posting.

Yes I can only apologise and less of the smart:)

We were one of those families packed into a car who would stop to pick up hitch hikers often bringing them to stay in our home. The thing that struck me as a child was how similar people are and nothing I have experienced so far has led me to change my mind.

Stones can go in both directions, sure a smart guy like you would know that wouldn’t you.

Just cos some twat types stuff about Polish people doesn’t mean that you have to be as big a twat as the scum who came to my city to fight then ran away.

the language of conquerors who were raping and murdering you

We are not talking about the Ukraine now are we. Unless you are talking about what happens when a country is overrun:)

The loss of the Language is very complicated like most things well over your head. It happened in less than a generation, if you think that was a conscious decision or lifestyle choice after 800 years you are as deluded as you are ungrateful.

Redzina or rendzina can't possibly be Russian because Russian doesn't have nasal vowels nor the 'dz' sound

I thunk wrong then:(

UK, Ireland / Poles in Ireland by Peadar de Burca. They "turned their backs on a country that gave them" [195]

So, basically they are helping to enforce British rule in Ireland?

Marvellous stuff.

Fuckin' mercenaries.

Hello

The PSNI are not the RUC they are gone. The PSNI are approaching a representation of the population which includes Polish people.

If you want to talk about foreign rule in Ireland question Fianna Fail, the party of De Valera who abandoned the hard won national Sovereignty handing it to the IMF. Do you think the Blue Shirts will do any better?

Of course you dont care, being a dyed in the wool partitionist.

Talking of Fuckin' mercenaries how's the Dublin pub banners going still bowing the knee?

As much as I may be unpopular

That is the least of your worries.

inferiority complex leftist elites

If we had some of these then the Government wouldnt have saddled the people with the richmans debt, the neo con, tea party crap that FF swallowed led directly to this situation.

So what happens FF is replaced by FG...business as usual....right wing replacing right wing.

Mrs browns boys

Sorry you are keeping them/it to pay for all the crimes inflicted on the world by George Formby.

There's quite a few words like that. The question is: from which language did they come into English?

Redzina I think is from Russian they invented soil science.

They like that they were able to make a great life, and yet it is close enough to go back home to Poland often.

That's really good to hear.

Polish people have integrated very well in Ireland and are very well thought of. They have joined all the political parties and in the north there is a Polish National in the Police, a small start but a start none the less.

Jesus that sounds so patronising but it's the truth.

You're right it is funny

work a 22-hour shift and live in a room they rent with 19 other migrants and a pig called Jeremy?

That is a reference to The Poor Mouth by Flan O Brien, the guy is taking the pi$s.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/An_B%C3%A9al_Bocht

I meant to add it was a direct satirical attack on how De Valera's (American President of Ireland) Reactionary Catholic Ireland saw the Irish. Kind of like someone attacking Mickiewicz's (if I'm allowed to do that) romantic Poland.

News / Poland needs a left wing govt. [111]

I actually felt a bit guilty inculding her. She's more that sort of ,robust, jolly hockey sticks ,bouncing around like Joyce grenfell type, you know,in your head you know you shouldnt stand her but find yourself liking her none the less.

I used to think the same until I saw a documentary where a Camera crew took her to meet the Mothers of Argentinian conscripts who had lost their sons in that war. She really showed her mother’s side, nothing to do with the war but the indifference to the loss was for me telling.

Apparently she used to do it when she was a young woman, according to 'unnamed neighbours'.

I always remember Ian Hislop making the point that the only time she showed emotion in public was when the Tories ditched her.............crying in self pity.

Edit

Mark Thatcher

Bribe monster, coup facilitator etc Yeah I've heard of him, and Carol the mad columnist.

I really have no reason to doubt you I'm just shocked.

Thatcher was 100% right, the unions are good as long as they focus on workers' pay and benefits. Once they turn to politics and resort to continuous blackmail they end up hurting the workers in the long run. Simply put they kill the goose that lays the golden eggs.

Thatcher destroyed communities declaring that there is no such thing as society. What did her deregulation bring? It brought her country to the edge of bankruptcy and like all freemarketeers they needed bailed out by the state with the ordinary people paying the price and not for the first time.

Sales tax is an unfair tax because it targets the poorest.

Off-Topic / How would Poles react to a visit from Queen Elizabeth? [72]

I can relate to it since I am Ukrainian and the destruction of the Ukrainian culture has been going on for centuries. I find that most of the time people who have not gone through a similar experience are not able to relate.

Thanks
The relationship between big and small neighbours is always especially complicated with different stories for the same events. Having the ability to stand aside and see the others point of view is the only way to advance this is always difficult for the larger state. I have seen you attacked for daring to suggest that such things happened in your neck of the woods, black and white people telling you that you are black and white.

Britain has really improved their relationship with Ireland over the last few years, simply by admitting the injustices of the past.

This is true, there is hardly a month goes by without some new confirmation that the state were lying, just last night the BBC broadcast a documentary about the British Army facilitating the murder of 15 men women and children in McGurks bar and lying about it.

There is peace now and all sides welcome that.

You saying it doesn't make it so, you haven't even disproved a single claim that i have made.

Its not me saying it its the vast majority of scholars from every part of these Islands. The written record demonstrates the ridiculousness of your claim.

Claiming the English were invited into Ireland by Strongbow is just historically wrong in so many ways. Strongbow didnt invite anyone into Ireland. Perhaps you could distil the process whereby the people known as the English came about then have a look at your post again.

Coat trailing about the destruction of the Irish language, laws and society is highly offensive and a lot more complicated than The Irish preferred to speak English or The Irish preferred to be ruled by the Normans. That is the equivalent of blaming the woman for the rape. Posting racist and sectarian cartoons is inexcusable and the actions of a bigoted racist as I said above.

And honestly were do you get off on calling the Irish savage, shame on you.

Another example of your lack of knowledge of Irish history. That term was used to describe Irish people who didnt bow the knee to England ie the vast majority of Irish people. Stop twisting, be a man and recognise what you posted.

Edit

I love the way if something doesnt fit into the stereotype of poor oppressed oirish folks and evil nasty englishmen...well,it must be trolling.........

Its trolling when he posts racist and sectarian images.
The simple narrative is nasty English as is the complicated narrative.

The Brits did not bail out Ireland they bailed out their own banks and hid the fact from the British people. It’s a nice little earner for them…borrowed at 2% lent at almost 6%

I didnt say you were English, I have never met an English person who coat trails in the way you have repeatedly.

Your knowledge of Irish history is non existent as evidenced by your post. If you would like to discuss Irish history feel free to start by asking questions as its clear you understand next to nothing about the subject.

Posting racist images of the savage Irish is racist which makes you an ignorant hypocritical racist.

Take your attempted self serving hand wringing and put it where the sun dont shine.
