History / Khazars and their crimes in the Slavic lands of Poland [63]

Oh yes it does! Read a bit more than just the first page, Barney! It's in there...

Though it does prove my point. The so-called debate about the 'Khazar' myth isn't about them at all. They disappeared centuries ago. It's all about the origins of another group entirely - and they can prove their origins (not that blood matters more than affinity) by hard scientific evidence.

Not to the personal liking of scientists either. Though in their case it's hardly personal - just pure objective fact.

It's quite amusing to see you get all worked up when your idea is demolished. Glad though that you think that ethnic roots are an irrelevance - something important here in Poland where so many of the country's brightest and best have their roots elsewhere. Clear proof that blood is a lesser tie than affinity.

Re. the 'Khazar' myth that you were trying to promote, it's been so comprehensively debunked that it's quite amazing that people of ill will keep trying to drag it up. Unfortunately for them the group of people involved, the Ashkenazis, have probably been subject to more DNA studies than any other group of people on the planet.

Law / Poland Internet & TV cable firm call to say they have put TV price up from 1zl to 11zl [10]

I am just after having a huge row with my internet provider because they have been bought over and our contract was supposed to stay the same but they are charging me an extra 1zł per month.

A huge row over 1 zloty? Reminds me of the story about wire being invented by a guy from Kraków and a guy from Poznań fighting over a coin.

He doesn't 'successfully argue' anything.

One key factor is that DNA studies of the Ashkenazi population show no connection to the Khazars at all. They do however show a strong link to both the Sephardi population as well as other Semitic peoples of the Levant. Other pointers are the lack of Khazar surnames as opposed to the widespread Cohen and Levi names; the lack of Khazar place names in the traditional lands of the Ashkenazi and the lack of Turkic features among the Ashkenazis.

What's more believable? Hard scientific evidence from DNA studies, or internet racists...

UK, Ireland / 1.2% of scottish population born in Poland [37]

The world is changing and national barriers are being broken down. There are some interesting ideas about how people will identify themselves in the future.

And whose 'theory' has been debunked by scientific analysis. If you want links to the findings of studies rather more respectable than his, try the search function here. There are links to dozens of studies.

Interesting you should obsess about the people who you say are 'attacking him'. That or just disproving his hackneyed idea.

News / How do Poles feel about the outcome of Germany's elections? [90]

And as I said, it's an irrelevance. Chancellor Merkel is as German as can be - get over that. She isn't the best chancellor they've had - nor is she the worst.

Btw, Monia, I can see invective coming in one direction only. A fine advert.

And means nothing whatsoever. Quit moaning, Monia. She's an intelligent enough politician not to be swayed by sentiment and in her loyalty is 100% a German, regardless of some person in her family tree who she probably barely new at best.

Life / Is 10500 monthly is enough for a family to live in Warsaw Poland [136]

Even that's a decent salary in Warsaw. After tax you'll have about 10k left, maybe 9. A flat will cost you about 2k and you'll live fairly well on half of the rest. If you live modestly (or even share a flat - though people on that sort of salary generally don't) you'll spend less and be able to save more.

I suppose I'm considered a very high earner in Warsaw terms, being further down a career path and getting much more than the amount you mention but I don't think I spend even 5k per month and live very well indeed. A doctor gets less than 10 before tax.

Nazi slut

I'm not sure the good senator is either of those things or even particularly interested in the legacy of the Hanseatic League who shaped the character of Gdańsk/Danzig more than any other single group.

History / Khazars and their crimes in the Slavic lands of Poland [63]

Again no one knows how many Khazars converted to Judaism.

Not enough to make much difference to the gene pool.

The Khazar myth has been debunked here before. There are threads on that great ancient culture. Genetic evidence suggests that the remnants just assimilated into the local populations (including Poles) and the Ashkenazi Jews don't have any particular connection with them.

Life / Help with icons, signs on washing machine (from Poland) :P [17]

It should be OK. Don't put too much in the machine though - a half full load at the most.

Remember, with automatic washing machines, they may well have all the bells and whistles, but you only really use 10% at most of all those settings. I only use 2 on mine. The rest are largely for show.

History / Is Jozef Pilsudski the king of modern Poles? [138]

I say that Hitler offer were better in the circumstances as history showed. Hungary or Finland is not by any notch worse off than Poland for all their alliance with Hitler

Except Poland is not either Hungary or Finland. Neither were part of Greater Germany, neither nationality were considered untermensch.

cry to mods

No, just respond. I don't see any personal attack on youth though. Just an observation that life under the Third Reich, who you consider a better offer for Poland than democracy, might not have been as nice as you'd like it. Very few of us would like to live in a regime where education was not considered necessary, Poles were considered suitable for physical labour only and your next door neighbour would be taken away and killed because of their ethnicity or euthanised if they had a disability.

History / 1939-1945 British war medal awarded to Polish Soldiers.Waiting to be delivered!! [32]

No they wanted their British allies to tread them exactly as they should be treated as the only legal representation of independent Poland.

No. That's what they were offered - a place on the same footing as America and France. They wanted to be treated as an Empire Dominion, which they were not. What's so hard to understand? Try harder!

There has never any doubt or legal problem with what government is legal in the fist place.

Indeed. The government recognised by both my country and yours was the one in Poland.

British stole Polish gold

The same gold that was returmed to the legal government as per agreement.

None that we know about and not everyone ex-soldier belonged to those organizations. Many British soldiers did bother with those medals either and that the fact. I would just proceed with caution in this case without assuming that all of them wanted to have those medals.

A silly thing to say. We can only go with what people actually say and not try to second guess the opinions of those who chose not to express them.

Are you saying we should have ignored the Polish ex-servicemen's organisations? Not that it's any business of yours since you live in neither PL or UK.

Food / Mushroom picking (and eating:) in Poland [36]

Which are your favorite?

Kurki and Kania!

The way kurki are served in Poland - picked small - gives them a flavour that the bigger ones don't have.

The only ones I dislike are the preserved slimy snotty ones (need I say more;)

I can take or leave (rather leave) maslaki and prawdziwki.

History / Is Jozef Pilsudski the king of modern Poles? [138]

Like British?

Quite the opposite, as history showed.

hat Hitler wanted Poland in his camp as late as 1938 if not later?

That isn't quite the same as wanting a 'partnership', now is it, Iron? Next time you hear someone say "What big teeth you've got, Granny", don't go into their gingerbread house.

If Poles were so inferior why this action when Polish children has been taken from their parents and send to Germany no less than 100 000 children turned into Germans this way.

And this is what you would have preferred to your life in the PRL?

Spoken like somebody who has absolutely zero idea just how big Russia actually is.

And not much idea about much, since he thinks Japanese people are Slavic! I know Toyotas used to be made in Bielsko Biala, but really.....

History / Is Jozef Pilsudski the king of modern Poles? [138]

He didn't paint all Slavs with a broad paint brush or else he would not have included Japan

What does the alliance with Japan have to do with the Third Reich's view of Poland and other predominently Slavic countries?

Poland joins Hitler part?

Perhaps because that vile regime regarded Poles as inferior and certainly didn't want them as partners

You really think Germany, Poland (or even Japan) can't defeat a Russia that didn't have years to build up.

They didn't.

Especially considering Germany would only be fighting a 1 front War

They weren't

Quick victory. Poland had just defeated Russia by themselves 20 years prior.

During a bloody civil war and revolution.

Why bring up a battle involving a far diminished Nazi army at that point.

Because that was what happened.

And you still haven't answered the most important question:
What sort of 'jobs' or indeed life would they Poles have had in a Reich that regarded them as racially inferior untermensch?
