News / Local elections in Poland, EU citizens should register to vote [57]

WTH! Sobieski?! How dare you vote in my country if you are'nt polish citizen? Keep your filthy hands on Politics in your own country! I dont care who you love or dont like in my country!

What has crawled up your ass? That is how democracy works, I would much rather him having the vote than you.

History / The Greatest King of Poland? [117]

He betrayed Poland, lost faith in victory and abandoned his own army for the camp of the enemy, only an idiot would name him as a good king.

Yes I expected that from you, but what was he suppose to do, continue resisting and watch his country be raped and pillaged and observe his countrymen being slaughtered by the Russians and Prussians?

It would have been futile, and that is why he decided to spare his country.

History / The Greatest King of Poland? [117]

PennBoy

Poniatowski-A much Maligned, and at first sight not an obvious candidate for the title of the greatest king. However, he was supremely qualified for the job, and amongst European monarchs of his time, the most enlightened. In any other era he would have been unquestionably one of, if not the greatest.

News / 100 days of Komorowski presidency [41]

How do you assess his performance so far? In Poland and Polonia views range from distinguished statesman to bumbling buffoon.

A solid pair of hands

he has a beautiful wife

I think that is arguable(:

History / Does anybody else think that Poland's army should change the colour of its uniform? [16]

It seems that my sensible suggestion has been finally adopted and there is a colour change in one of the security services. Know it is time for the army!

The Poland's Internal Security Agency unveiled new uniforms of officers. The most important change - the color . Previously existing uniforms were dark green and resembled those of the communist era.

I meant now not know-should try stop writing before thinking, or at least look at what I wrote(:

News / Composer Henryk Gorecki has died. [28]

I am talking about his music, I did not make the clip you know(:

I noticed that you cut and paced the meaning behind the words for the wiki link I provided, so i guess you have the answer.

History / Does anybody else think that Poland's army should change the colour of its uniform? [16]

Yes practicality should always take precedence, but you should be able to merge comfort with visual appeal-and I like the official uniforms you have posted, though can't make out the colour-it looks a bit like very dark grey.

This is a version of evening dress (Britain)

en.wikivisual.com/index.php/Mess_dress

these are examples of official and combat.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Army_uniform

Each British regiment is usually distinguished in the type of official uniform it wears. Overall i think they have the most appealing type of uniform.

History / Does anybody else think that Poland's army should change the colour of its uniform? [16]

Not combat, the one they use for official occasions.

As an example wp.mil.pl/pl/galeria/3951

The uniform in this clip is far more preferable.

I think that today they are trying to do them on the cheap, and they look horrible!

I think that in the UK officers have 3. combat, ceremonial/official, and evening ceremonial

Law / Starting a catering business - South African Style. Dealing with the restrictions... [13]

mosquito cream- tabard, still use it here in Poland.

Yes that or ' Peaceful sleep', which i am more familiar with. And yes that saying about not being able to take Africa out of the person sums it up quite well.

And we always use the word braai and never barbecue(:

There are quite a few South Africans in Australia, one of them Gail Kelly, runs Australia's biggest bank Westpac, and another Marius Kloppers, runs their biggest company, BHP Billiton.

@hague: So you are partyly SA? You live in Poland?

I am Polish, but my parents and I moved to SA in 1992 and we left for Auss in 2001. we spent most of our time in the north of the country Transvall and the Free State or the Vraystaat. We met some really warmhearted individuals and would probably have never left if security, economics and the political situation were more stable. My dad lived in Zim for a bit and I lived in Botswana for a bit as well. My dad was usually contracted with De Beers and Anglo American as a GP.

One thing i will never forget about SA is Biltong- I absolutely looooove it(:

I really hope you stick it out in Poland but I am sure like me, you must miss SA a lot. There is something about that part of Africa that brings out this primal attachment in individuals, that few other places can match. In the African night, even though far away from the rest of the world in some ways, I feel very close and content at the same time. I do not feel the same way about Auss.

Another thing that triggers memories of SA is the smell of that anti Mosquito smear on. I have grown accustomed to that smell(:

Starting out a Biltong franchise could be a great idea!(:

Life / What is Poland B as opposed to Poland A and the otherway-round. [45]

POLENGGGs

I guess other European comparisons could be made between Poland, the UK and Italy. the difference in Italy is between the north and the south-with the north being A and the south B. In the UK the south is A and the north is the B.

although i doubt if the differences in Poland are quite as stark as between the North and South of Italy.

News / Poland goes bankrupt? [110]

Well the economist quoted, apparently claims that the government figures are unreliable, following that he comes out with his own figures, which are even more unreliable. Unlike the government, he does not have fixed methodology at his disposal to count the debt. He is effectively asking people to trust his wild assumptions instead of the governments'.

I am not sure if it is going to go up by 6%, however it is fair to say that the current official government forecasts of 3.5% of growth are a real underestimate-which is what they do, because they prefer to underestimate the level of growth than to overestimate it-and that is what their track record of the previous few years indicates.

News / Poland goes bankrupt? [110]

Alarmist BS, the figures mentioned are patently ridicules. And what this so called economist neglects to tell, is that Poland's economy is likely to grow beyond all expectations next year. In an on the record interview Rostowski said it could be by as much as 6%.

The economist you mention seems to assume that the economy stays still from year to year.

History / Maus by Vladek Spiegelman - animals to represent Poles? [68]

In the usual Polish fashion many of You guys fail to acknowledge that apart from a significant number of brave and heroic Poles that did all they could to ease the plight of Jews at great personal risk there was also a very visible chunk of the Polish population that sold Jews out to the Nazis for food or out of spite.

Likewise it would be good to remember that many Jews gave away other Jews to the Nazis as well and many Jews gave Poles away to the Soviets. And many leading Soviets were Jews

News / Do Poles take Kaczynski seriously!? [199]

well, that notion gotta go too. Enough time had passed.

No, first he has to get hammered really badly at this year's council elections, then next year's parliamentary elections. And finally they should move against him, and reveal that he is gay.
