Life / Everything this guy says I feel about Poland [69]

after THIRTY fukking years, obviously need help.

Sorry, , it is you who need help. If you spent 30 years in Poland and l expect that a Polish stranger will reply to your crazy hello uttered with a stupid grin, then it means you lost 30 years of your life because you still know nothing about the country and its culture/customs. We talked about it many times in many threads here that Poles are cold at the beginning, they need time to warm up to you.

The majority of your recent posts written here sound as if you were trying to convince yourself that your decision to leave Poland and go back to England was justified because Poland sucks. That`s a pathetic attitude - you should start realising it from now on.

Simply speaking - you are giving us BS.

I didn't realise you wanted the Polish name, so I gave you the English version. Sorry!!

No, of course I wanted the English name of the holiday, but translated from the traditional Polish name. :)

Sorry, neither chinchilla nor coypou. Look at the hand which is touching the furry thing - it is the hand of a few years old kid, that thing is giant in comparison, chinchillas are much smaller. As for coypu, it has brown fur, not grey., and not so fluffy as the thing in the picture.

The Day of the ( Herbal ) Mother of God

Yes! But why Herbal in brackets? It is a full name - Matki Boskiej Zielnej.

If you look carefully you can see the owl above and to the left of the entrance

No, I even enlarged the photo but didn`t see any owls. :):) Neither the inscription is legible.

Wow, a torturous riddle, indeed. :)

The sundial also bears the insciption, 'you see the hour, you do not know the hour, in Latin.

Thanks, without this and other hints it was impossible to guess. These houses are in Chestnut Tree Avenue in Reszów, designed by Tekielski.

pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aleja_Pod_Kasztanami_w_Rzeszowie

Very interesting, thanks again.

Hey, it seems Rzeszów is your favourite place in Poland! Your previous riddle was also from Rzeszów. But it is one of few cities I haven`t visited so you can always beat me here. :)

What is inside the pet carrier?

Celebrating The Assumption of the Virgin Mary?

Yes, of course, but that`s an international name. Can you also provide the traditional Polish name of the holiday? :):) The photo suggests it.

As for the houses, they look beautiful but I have never seen them, the only thing I was able to google was that similar buildings, mock "castles" for wealthy businessmen, were built in Sopot and area by German achitects before the war (Schultz or Hofacker). I checked the drawing of the sun on the facade and that blue and yellow flag (consulate?) but nothing. Not so easy. :(:(:

I suspect

Trolling about LOT airlines is a trick as old as the hills in this forum. :):)

Travel / Poland's LOT Air Problems [43]

They had only a couple members of staff to deal with hundreds of people.Does anyone have any ideas what I can do next?

The next thing is to provide some more details, e.g., the date of unlucky flight. I checked the Polish internet and out of hundreds of people nobody is complaining about the scandalous situation you are describing.

Besides, a few articles inform about the curfew at the airport but add it doesn` t apply to delayed flights.

PS. OK, be frank, which rival airline do you work for? :):)

I never laugh when people are doing their best. Bingo, it is a newly built swimming pool in a spa village of Wysowa Zdrój in southern Poland. We used to go there every year to drink healthy mineral waters after which I always felt like King Kong. :):):)

See its interiors:

OK, more photos from Wysowa.

What species is it?

A hint - a big part of this building displays glass wall. We can guess it isn`t an office, where else then is such glass surface common?

Thank God! I wasn't sure if I could possibly look at any more bunkers!

Oops, these are probable signs you are getting tired with the riddles. Just like a workmate of yours who walked away murmuring that clocks would haunt her for the rest of the day. I don`t want you to have nightmares about bunkers - how you get lost in them and can`t get out. Reminds me of one episode of old Avengers series - an evil guy tricked the female detective into his house and it turned out it was a clever trap with many tricky psychodelic gadgets. Did you watch it? :):)

Don`t forget to think about the newest riddle of the building which looks like what? Church?

Life / Politics / lifestyle / culture on billboards in Poland - examples [28]

The cursed soldiers appear on billboards and sometimes raise controvercies as well.

E.g., anti -cursed -soldiers billboards appeared but they were repainted and defamatory slogans turned into support.

  • Let`s remember cursed soldiers.

  • Cursed soldiers are morally equal to Red Army and Wehrmacht

  • Repainted - Cursed soldiers were victims of Red Army and Wehrmacht

Hel fortified area?

Yes!

although trying to find out if bunkers are well preserved or not isn't particularly easy

It is easy. When you can get inside and imagine that you would be able to spend there a few hours or even days, it means the bunker is well preserved. :):)

I won`t waste the post`s photo slots for more pics of the bunkers, so anybody interested what a well preserved bunker looks like check this site - it shows photos nearly as good as mine :):)

Do you really think that being Polish makes a guy unique, out of this world, so you really need to look for advice in forums or guide books?

Travel / Poland in photo riddles [3134]

That was very noble of you, indeed. And, were you successful?? :):)

PS. Chemikiem`s and my riddles are challenging which means the process of guessing takes a lot of time because it requires at least medium intelligence combined with enough determination and good detective skills. Therefore, you might have had an impression of boring or slow thread, indeed. It is a pity but currently the forum lacks members with before mentioned qualities - too many people prefer to spend time in Random or US News, and they aren`t really interested in getting to know Poland other than in travel agent`s brochures.

Your posting UK photos wasn`t new life, though, it was simply against the rules and misinformation, because some readers might have thought they showed Poland while they didn`t.

Thank you for your noble attempts which, despite being off the point, are really appreciated, I hope your next riddles will really breathe some new life in here.

Travel / Poland in photo riddles [3134]

Sorry, none of these places. But it isn`t so torturous as it seems because you are close. One big hint - the bunker is real, really huge, excellently preserved, exactly as it was during 1939 campaign.

This seaside town of Whitby, UK is absolutely gorgeous

I am happy you joined the thread. However, there are two little problems. :):)

1. Why do you pollute the thread with the UK photos? Didn`t you notice the title?

2. When I wrote Random pics, it didn`t mean one can post anything curious about Poland. This thread is for riddles, NOT ANY pics. So your photo of a square toilet is intriguing indeed, thanks, but you should have made a riddle out of it.

I hope now everything is clear if it wasn`t so before. :)

I feel a bit

Please don`t. I also frequently have blackouts. All day yesterday I was thinking I needed to remember to take the broken chair to have it welded. Today morning, I naturally forgot about it.

Hint - not what but where is important! :):)

You have been fighting very nobly so let me reward your pains - it is a part of the monument in the Red Army cemetery in Pszczyna. Cyrillic was introduced after WW2 when students had to start learning Russian at school. As for freedom issue, Soviets (and many Russians today) claimed they liberated Poland from German fascism, forgetting they had been Hitler`s exemplary allies in 1939-41.

No, Lenin didn`t fall for our and your fredom. :):):) He suffered from syphilis and died of a stroke.

Hint - when I said "past 1920" I did it to obfuscate another period when Cyrillic was common in Poland. Which?

Hint - the design is not made of letters, but of objects. Two objects combined together forever. What namely? :):) Another hint - read Dirk`s post carefully: polishforums.com/travel/poland-photo-riddles-25380/89/#msg1695190 -He was close but didn`t finish his thought.
