Love / Polish girls attitudes towards sex. [568]

Well, if tradesmen charge top dollar for mere inspections and their time, why can't women? :0

This is a question for those women away from home. Do you feel more inclined to have sex due to a feeling of liberation? Being away from home brings different chances and changes ones behaviour.

I guess it depends how warmed up and ready you are. I get the impression that many here can take it or leave it.

10.5 :) Wow, you must have some secrets to share, Nika ;)

Love / Polish girls attitudes towards sex. [568]

I can sympathise with those darned 9pm finishes. You want to be colloquial? Don't fear, Seanus is here ;) My handicap is that I'm Scottish ;) ;) Forgive me on that one :)

Polish girls, like most women, like sex and why shouldn't they? Is any female here celibate?

Love / What do Polish Guys Like Women to Wear? [64]

It's just a matter of preference at the end of the day. Short skirts, Lir? I thought they were wintery boots. Wouldn't you be a bit cold?

Oh, I must talk to my friends in high positions to get them outlawed. I can't have my kith and kin dwindling away unnecessarily ;) ;)

Travel / Is it safe to travel to Poland? [194]

Travelling to Poland is one thing. Travelling in Poland is quite another ;) ;)

Nah, it's safer than most parts of Scotland. My home city in Scotland has many more dangerous parts where you have to look over your shoulder. I don't really do that here unless I'm in one of my paranoid phases ;0 :)

Work / Advice on Teaching English in Poland [709]

Almost everyone rolls that dice, debbie. I had no guarantee of employment after doing my CELTA in April-May 2004. You just have to keep your ear to the ground and eke out some possibilities. It's becoming an ever more competitive environment and it's sometimes good to enter into a guaranteed employment arrangement, if such an option exists in Kraków. I know it exists in Prague where you do your CELTA through an established institution and then you get a job with them if you are deemed to be up to the task.

Work / Moving to Poland from the USA. Question concerning CELTA certificate.I need help [32]

I paid 950 pounds and that was 5.5 years ago. Still, Basil Paterson College in Edinburgh is a rather elitist kind of school, they think they are super. I've had some experience with this kind of Scottish git. At postgrad level, the professors were unprofessional. You award marks for sound reasoning skills and DON'T mark down because the student has a different opinion.

If I met my profs or teachers again, I'd tell them to go and fu*k themselves!! I think there was some element of jealousy on their part. I have serious issues with those that have the power to mark me down for their lame systems of evaluation. I'm always fair with my students and am not overly critical.

News / Prediction: Poland to be World Superpower in XXI century [147]

I agree with your analysis on Belarus. Russia knows that it has well and truly lost control of the former CIS states but Belarus seems to be there for the controlling. As is the case in modern times, religion will play its part. They are both predominantely prawosławny and a large percentage of Belarussians can speak Russian fluently. You also have a good point about identity. I asked a Belarussian student to speak in her native tongue and she kept on mixing it with Russian. That's the downside of not carving out a clear ID.

Well, when certain people drain the life out of the economy, it comes as no surprise. The Fed have been cheating people for a long time. Still, I believe that kickstart options are viable. America has extensive knowledge of economic models and need to draw on their past successes. With concerted effort from the people, they can reverse the rot.

Anyway, this is about Poland. Sokrates, you are Polish, what do you think?

News / Prediction: Poland to be World Superpower in XXI century [147]

Well, if you can't tell me what a superpower is then how do you propose to discuss if Poland will be one or not??

I didn't say that the US wants any part of Europe from progressing. There will be future drives for a union between America and Europe but the first step is getting Canada and Mexico on board (for America that is).

What am I supposed to be looking for exactly? Please be specific.

Sokrates, time produces such differences but it just involves a few adjustments.

News / Prediction: Poland to be World Superpower in XXI century [147]

First issue, debt. Yes, Bush plunged the nation into unprecedented national debt. Still, do you really believe that the individual businesspeople who spearheaded Obama's campaign would be willing to cough up the sums that Obama needs to pay for his ambitious health program? The money comes from somewhere, it always does. He seems to find the funds from some undisclosed sources.

The American economy bounced back from the worst vicissitudes of the recession. I'm quite sure you could point to numerous statistical reports from agencies which collate such info that it's really not as bad as you think.

The infrastructure of a country crumbles from time to time. Recovery packages can salvage the worst of it.

America has always produced more than its fair share of illiterates ;) ;)

OK, PP, please define superpower and hyperpower for me. I want to get into your mind to see how you conceptualise them.

Russia also doesn't want more competition as they are heavily reliant on gas. I didn't say otherwise. Lying, where? America is still classed as a hyperpower, PP, the only one. Do you really believe that America can't invest in the technologies of tomorrow? Ok, Scotland has 30% of the tidal/wind power of Europe, we are lucky. The ME has oil, they are lucky. Still, America can compensate in other ways. They haven't been castrated completely as you seem to think.

What other places? I've been to 21 countries outside of Scotland, all with their own potential and expertise. Those rich countries don't necessarily harbour aspirations of becoming superpowers, PP.

Southern, other countries have vodka too, you know? ;) ;) Why not Lithuania as a superpower as their currency would have some stock?

Poland will not be a superpower. America doesn't want more competition than Russia and China. A superpower can build itself up relatively easily from within and with the right funding. Can Poland really do that? America has the Rockefellers and MANY other sources of funding that Poland doesn't have. Geez, Poland was glad to accept Patriot missiles, hardly the most cutting-edge technology out there.

History / WAS KATYŃ GENOCIDE? Polish officers were killed [237]

BB, are you listening? Everyone apart from Croatia criticised their intervention. They overstepped their mark.

Did I say it was a bad thing? They voted and they wanted to be separate, so fine. It just didn't need the German hand.

History / WAS KATYŃ GENOCIDE? Polish officers were killed [237]

No, not everything but EVERY side said that it was Germany that expedited the drive to independence. The Brits, the Americans, most Yugoslavs, you name it. More time was needed to put a viable solution on the table but your snakes triggered events before their time.

My German friend agrees completely. He has read more than I have on it and had many bad words for what Germany did there.

History / WAS KATYŃ GENOCIDE? Polish officers were killed [237]

Said fair and balanced reporting, BB. BB, can't you see? I'm not discussing the broader conflict, I'm discussing the specific crime of genocide.

I don't know any Serbs personally. We all know that each group was as bad as the other.

Croats were pushed into their independence through German meddling. You had 2 cretins as foreign ministers who even blew off the Americans, such was their greed and arrogance.

There's nothing conspiratorial about this, it's documented material.

History / WAS KATYŃ GENOCIDE? Polish officers were killed [237]

If you had paid attention to what I said earlier, you would've known why it was genocide, BB. It was part of the bigger objective to eradicate the Serbs from existence. You have to see it in its fuller context which was to wipe out the Serbs and remove their ethnic kind. Those people didn't have the significance that elite Polish soldiers had. They were just civilians living in a Serbian enclave who were singled out for being just that.

It's not about innocence, it's about the nature of the crime. Many of Knin's residents were old farmer types and presented no threat. It was the old lebensraum concept again.

Good point, Borrka. I hope you take the same view of the treatment of Serbs in Krajina (Knin). They were forced out by a Croatian special-forces operation in 1995.

That is genocide as you want to wipe out a whole race.
