News / Demonstrations in Poland in defence of democracy. [2554]

He already explained the situation - that he couldn't afford to pay it, not that he didn't want to pay it, but he will pay everything back as soon as he can

he cannot afford to pay alimonies but has time and means to organize mass protests in Poland - something doesn't click here simple as that

All decent Poles want nothing whatsoever to do with his policies.

it looks I am not decent then

btw do you think not paying alimony for one's kids is a sign of decency or not - if you don't know who I have in mind then look up Mr Mateusz Kijowski the leader of KOD

Law / Foreigner Driving Polish registered Car in Poland - is it Legal?! [11]

Do I have to present anything to justify that its my gf's car?

no you just have to carry 'dowód rejestracyjny' registration document and the insurance policy confirmation (even in someone steals a car there is a very low chance they will get hold of the 'dowód rejestracyjny' because drivers usually carry it with themselves and not leave it in the vehicle)

the girlfriend doesn't need to be in the car with you, they will only check with your girlfriend if they suspect the car is stolen which is not very probable if you have the 'dowód rejestracyjny' with you)

I don't know about Straź Miejska to be honest - but I suspect their offices don't work like the police i.e. 24/7 - what do you need straż miejska for?

Life / Going to Poland in a hijab - Polish people and Islam [154]

I did some researches and found out that The people of the country are mostly friendly people :) .

There is lingering racism in Poland and especially in the last year it grew in strength because of the 'refugee' crisis - there have been incidents of attacks on Arab-looking people - one quite serious with a victim hospitalised. Wearing hijab can pose a danger in these circumstances I guess.

News / Poland - Third World Country?? [300]

For how much longer are you planning to pull this tired old victim card? WW2 is the excuse for everything, right?

for still quite a bit of time - you forget that in the aftermath of the war Poland unwillingly became a communist country and that that only ended 27 years ago

Do check figures from European Union

per capita Poland is in the end of the list of European help - and only this counts

gumishu maybe this happens in the country you come from , but it certainly is not Poland

I'm Polish and I see this hate every time I read comments under politics news in wp.pl interia.pl or onet.pl - and now it also spills into the streets (some of the banners carried on KOD manifestations are outwardly hateful from what I have read)

News / Attack on Poland's judicial independence [50]

I think that one question I would ask is who are the prosecutors accountable to?

I am not an expert on the subject - but as far as I know there used to be a hierarchical model of prosecution in place in Poland before the PO-PSL goverment made them 'independent' (well ask yourself who is drafting budgets for prosecution to find out if they are really independent while not elected) - so there was a hierarchy of prosecutors going up to the Prosecutor General who happened to be the minister of Justice at the same time - Poland had problems with free media before (as recently as the last year Polish TVs together with the court authorities coordinated efforts not to show the testimony of the previous president Bronisław Komorowski before court in case of a journalist Wojciech Sumliński) but it has eventually changed considerably thanks to the internet

but should have an iron fist towards those who wish to cause hatred and harm.

do you believe people should be punished for their views? if so there are millions of Poles who hate and spread hate of their political opponents -and what do you mean by harm? does it include 'vanishing' public money?

Poland has bigger things to deal with than Jews

probably a group of people who have never harmed murdered ,interned or exiled any pole en mass.

Polish Jews actually have a history of imprisoning, torturing, murdering and sending patriotic Poles to gulags - I don't mean all Jews of course - not all Jews were influential in the origins of the PRL and a lot were completely innocent

News / Attack on Poland's judicial independence [50]

Politicians in Poland often happen to be lawyers, you know - maybe in a country with a tradition of impartial civil servants it works fine like you describe it but Poland is not a country like that yet and there has to be some overseeing of the work of prosecutors - for me the ideal model is elected prosecutors just like in the US but for now I will gladly settle on a democratically elected government control over prosecution - for your information prosecutors not only can press charges and arrest people with little base but also they can deliberately drop charges or willfully neglect investigations which is actually more probable in Poland - who will make them do they work if they are not controlled - in the case you fear people are going to be charged and arrested without proper reason there is free media in Poland and nothing is going change in that matter

Given that PiS don't want the public to control the government

sorry Jon - PO and their president shredded 6 millions of votes of support of referendums - this is how PO and the crew imagine public control of goverment and democracy - not to mention that they have stolen over 100 billion PLN from people's retirement fund accounts - PiS goverment is so far very benign in comparison

That's where clear parameters in the law are important

code laws will never forsee all possible complications of real life and is prone to varying interpretations - if prosecutors were independent who would interpret the rules binding them or how will you prevent from siding with one political force say the opposition ?

They should be completely independent.

and become rule unto themselves? no my friend - I will never agree to that (unless they are elected - which means they are controlled by the public)

the current PiS proposition allow the public to control the prosecution through the elected goverment

Especially since you can't criticise the substance, so look for an analogy to whine about.

I have criticised the substance - the Minister of Justice being also the Prosecutor General is nothing new in democratic Poland and no prosecutors should not be independent unless they are elected like in the US - and no so called 'prawniczy autorytet' will make me think differently (I guess they have vested interests in the so called independence of prosecutors)

So in what way is that 'manipulative'?

you don't understand a simple explanation it seems

and no arranging flights especially of the head of the state has nothing to do with choosing a route for a steam boat

In what way is this excellent article 'manipulative'?

in this way : "In fact 5 people are already being investigated for "poorly planning the Smolensk trip". A move likened to prosecuting White Star Line employees for poor route planning on the Titanic's maiden voyage. "

they are not investigated - they stand before a court 'z powództwa cywilnego'
and no preparing a FLIGHT of a PRESIDENT is not in any way similar to planning a route of a passenger BOAT -

Looks like you didn't read the article.

prosecutors were not independent in the short history of Polish democracy after the fall of communism (appart from the brief time of PO goverment after 2010) - and they shouldn't as long as they are not elected (like in the US)

And don't confuse the concept of an Attorney General with the PiS cult's new 'Prosecutor General'.

Attorney General is translated to Polish as Prokurator Genralny - which is the same as Prosecutor General

in the years 1990-2010 attorney general post was held by the minister of justice - nothing new - you are hysterical

and the person held all the powers the minister of justice/attorney general will have now

were you screaming injustice back then???
