News / TV Trwam gets credibility stamp [21]

Could be Lux has received private bequests with the donors' stipulation that they should remain anonymous, hence their reluctance to throw open their books.

It all comes back to the plain facts. tv maybach has to comply to the same standards as the other stations. They think they should be granted an exemption.

I see you still are not able to write Warsaw's City President's name correctly.

News / PO-PiS again neck and neck [248]

Exactly. I remember some years ago during the election campaign, when all the commercial radio stations in Warsaw were urging the people to go to vote until the very last moment the polling stations were open. It was the same campaign during LK told Monika Olejnik that "he would get her". This will no doubt happen again.

when I predicted a 37 or 38% win

Since when is an opinion poll the same as an election result?

News / TV Trwam gets credibility stamp [21]

The thing is that tv maybach refuses to comply to the same standards as the other stations, that just for them all conditions should be waved.

News / TV Trwam gets credibility stamp [21]

tv maybach did not get access to the digital platform, because it did not - as opposed to all other normal stations - gave insight into its finances. Polska B still can watch it by other ways.

Study / Tell me about Collegium Civitas (Warsaw)! [34]

Poland is becoming the new study hub in Europe

Because they see this as the ideal backdoor to the EU and to Schengen. That is why.

Life / How many Jewish people live in Poland? [145]

Does the Belgian press claim there are 120,000? That was the point -- the discrepancy.

In Belgium this is not even a point.

To what extent are Dutch, Flemish and Afrikaans mutually intelligible

Afrikaans is basically a different language, developed from 18th century Dutch spoken by the Dutch settlers on the Cape, and has evolved separately. I understand it, but not 100% and have to concentrate to do so. Dutch is the official name for the language spoken by the Dutch and the Flemish, and teached in school and used in daily life.. Flemish is a common name for the numerous dialects spoken in Flanders. Almost every village here has its own dialectic variant of Dutch. In some Flemish or Dutch areas in the East speak a form of Dutch which I hardly understand. Local patriotism is very strong where I come from (to a village / town level) and your local dialect is an explicit expression of that.

Life / How many Jewish people live in Poland? [145]

So...what is your "afterthought" behind this posting?
In Belgium live 42.000 Jews on a population of about 11 million. So what?

News / Poland's Nationalists hold congress [132]

the rights of being recognized as national minority for starters. The right taken away in 1940 by the Nazis.

Poles in Germany have the same rights as for example Belgians in Poland, and Poles in Belgium. Check the relevant EU website. What's the big deal here?

Language / Tusk's uvular 'r' when speaking in Polish [49]

Polonius only uses this to snipe from a a different angle at his favourite enemies. He forgot to mention President Komorowski :)
Though why Kashubians would talk with a French accent?
Me, coming from a trilingual country, am convinced the French "r" exists. My French friends here in Poland for sure have it, and my wife and daughters are convinced I have it as well.

Language / Tusk's uvular 'r' when speaking in Polish [49]

Tusk's unsavoury first name:

The only unsavoury first name I could imagine would be Adolf.
Maybe you could copy the complete link, so that we know it does not come from fronda.pl?
Actually I just found it....www4rzeczpospolita.blox.pl/2007/10/BIOGRAFIA-DONALDA -TUSKA.html
The source tells everything.

Language / Tusk's uvular 'r' when speaking in Polish [49]

I was going to call her Duckgirl

You mean as competition for Marta Kaczyńska ? Btw I suppose in your definition of Polishness Kashubians do not qualify ?
When we are talking about the French "r" - you of course behave as an idiot again. I myself have a most Frech "r" when I speak Polish and neither the Prime Minister nor the City President have it.

News / Poland's Nationalists hold congress [132]

Anyway in quite a few European countries minorities have a guaranteed presence in the political process.

News / Poland's Nationalists hold congress [132]

3 % for minorities

What is remotely funny, is that the duck wants to get the upperhand in Silesia...after he practically declared the same Silesians as non-Poles....

News / Poland's Nationalists hold congress [132]

~+7% over the last 6 months, the trend is clear and there are +2 years left, hopefully Tusk will not run away with early elections.

Still 70 % who not vote for the duck. Maybe they are all misguided?
Anecdote; Yesterday at Metro Młociny, one of of these "neutral" smolenkist referendumallists asked if I wanted to sign the petition against GW. I declined and asked her if she was a pisior. Which she of course was. Her reply? "Musisz być obcem".

Work / Multinational company in Poland - high school diploma , they will check?? [15]

Headhunters & recruiters in my experience do not ask for your qualifications on paper. I never heard of such a thing. What they will do is check your info on LinkedIn and in an advanced stage of the recruitment ask for references. Anyway you have to be mad lying about your degree.
