UK, Ireland / Is there actually anything cheaper in Poland than in UK? [51]

Sorry but 6 pln for a beer is for sure not a typical price in Kraków, more like 8-10 at least, how can the same wine be so much cheaper here If in both cases it comes from the 3rd country ? Alcohol tax so much higher ?

Is there actually anything cheaper in Poland than in UK?

Services, which are based mainly on human work, such as restaurants, barbers, dentists for sure and such but overall yes, the cost of living in Poland is not much lower than in most of western Europe (and right now It seems to be higher than in the USA) I've been laughing for years at PF people repeating again and again "Poles make less money but It's cheaper here", well It isn't really.

Don't you know PP started being serious about it?Many ppl got "wezwanie do zapłaty".They can charge you up to 5 years. That's about 2.000 zł.

True. People getting it should organize themselves and sue Tusk, after all he said that people should not pay it.

poles have much more disposable income than british people

Sure :)))))))

Work / I'M SO SURPRISED BY THIS SALARY FOR IBM in WROCLAW 3000 ZL gross [135]

In the end it was 2000 net...

I didn't expect it to be that bad... Try looking for a position with fluent Greek required, French is quite common here, Greek is not, in SSC/BPO sector people with rare language skills tend to be paid better than those only with English/German/French/Italian/Spanish/Russian.

News / THE PARTYS OVER... NO MORE EUROS FOR POLAND'S ROADS [71]

cant imagine moustaches and babcias agreeing to that

Did they agree with VAT increase and 10.000 other bullshyts ? IT's not that Poland is some kind of crystal people's democracy.

News / THE PARTYS OVER... NO MORE EUROS FOR POLAND'S ROADS [71]

you can blame solidarity for that
and the general socialist leanings of poland

the other issue is that people wanted NOW what germany has NOW
so
foolish people i could agree

Partially yes but It doesn't mean we have to go even further into this madness, so that's why I'm happy, the faster it collapse, the better, it must get worse before it gets better.

News / THE PARTYS OVER... NO MORE EUROS FOR POLAND'S ROADS [71]

how poland would build half this stuff
without the money from europe

We wouldn't. The thing is, common sense way of doing things is as follows, If you are poor, don't buy a car, get a better job first, start making money and then you can afford it, EU way of doing things is as follows -> we will cover half of cost of your car, we will set the requirements for the type of car (so it's either German or French made) you may buy and you will get in debt (in our banks) to pay the other half and then pay for the fuel, insurance, repairs etc.

How it works out, you can see in Greece.

But im afraid that 2100 wouldnt be enough for rent...

Not to live on your own for sure, but If you live with one more person it's doable, besides I don't think it's 2100, at least not forever, after 3-6 months it should go up by 10-15%, generally for 2500 you can have a modest but relatively normal life here If you share a 2 room flat with another person... If the salary turns out to be not totally terrible, I think you should take it, with nearly 60% youth unemployment rate in Greece, there will rather not be good opportunities there for a few more years I'm afraid...

what?? you are off by a few thousand.

The best example you have totally no clue about the reality in Poland, TOTALLY, as I said in another thread, you people should get out more often.

that would be 2500 net???

Yes, If you share a flat with someone else, you can have a relatively normal life for that but without saving or any luxury of course, If wages had been fine here, 5 trillion Poles would have not worked in the UK and elsewhere.

Life / Foreigners in Poland - the identities of our native or the host country [66]

No one is suggesting Poland would not succeed without its foreign investors, although FDI has moved things along much swifter.

FDIs are not homogenic, there are some good and bad, altough those bad are mainly fault of naive/corrupted "Polish" authorities... they should never be allowed here... but I think we're talking about different things here... I've been working for quite a few foreign companies operating in Poland... most had 0 foreigners residing here... one had many but those were basically call center/processing kids with rare language skills, we couldn't find locally... it's not that foreign people living in Poland are crucial to FDIs coming here really...

Grzegorz, if you decided to go and work in the next city, your first question would be whats in it for me.

Of course. I check the opportunities and either I take it or not, I don't expect the other city to change itself to accommodate my special needs.

In my opinion Poland could do more to encourage foreign entrepreneurs to this country.

First of all "Poland" should stop ruining our own business, there are very few things Poles couldn't produce without foreigners, a fact that foreign companies play so huge role here is a matter of totally failed strategy on the government level, basically it's an example of pathology, not something which should be promoted even further. I know plenty of examples when Poles were running a successful business only to be ruined by subsidized "foreign investors" at some point. The logic you promote here is totally incorrect, Turkey is a great example of a country, which is becoming powerful largely thanks to NOT being allowed to the EU and not allowing "foreign investors" to rape their domestic market freely.

There are communties of Ukrainians and Vietnamese living in Warsaw, I have never heard of communities of ' Expatriates' in Warsaw, this would suggest the Expats are assimilating into the Polish community.

There are many cases, even on these forums, of quasi "expats", who don't know Polish even after living here for many many years.

That would suggest you are not a PO supporter, Po is a supporter of business.

Yes, their own :)))

we would do well to think of one question, what has Poland done to assimilate her new generation of émigré’s, expatriates or immigrants.

Nothing. It's not "Poland's" job to do that, all the lefty stuff with "making them feel welcome" and so on don't work well, there are plenty of examples around Europe. Besides, immigrants in Poland like Ukrainians, Armenians or even Vietnamise tend to integrate faster than "expats", a good example that the more difficult it is, the more effort people make.

This new wave is building business-creating jobs, providing education and contributing under difficult circumstances in Poland.

You people have serious issues, 99.9% of you came here because it was convenient for you, for one reason or another, not because you wanted to "help Poland" or any other crap, really you guys should get out more instead of living in your little world of "exapts", can you imagine a Polish person running a business in the UK (there are probably a few thousand) saying how much British owe them because they are building business there ? Get your head out of your butt because people reading it are laughing at you.

Australia / Poles invaded the wrong Anglo-Saxon country [29]

I read somewhere that the average wage for the mining industry was around 100k Aus dollars.

People working in mining generally make better money than national average, also in Poland.

99.99999% are Australian or Anglo/Irish origin people.

Right.

News / Man taken to court for abusing Poland's president [35]

A country like Poland, a secular democracy with a centuries-old liberal tradition, a respect for freedom of speech and behaviour and a legal system that doesn't moralise, actually gives equal rights to all and is an environment where freedoms are cherished.

Hmm so what's your problem ? What do you want to change ?

UK, Ireland / How might Britain`s withdrawal from EU affect Poles there and here? [474]

the Brits should never have been allowed into Europe.

The Brits are Europe, they don't need anyone's permissions, especially not from your filthy poodles.

It's basically common sense vs. 4th Reich and pinks are on the right side, I wonder If you federalists will turn violent, just like you did last time in 39.

Real Estate / The current property boom in Poland is a bubble [342]

Question is, if the NBP keeps cutting interest rates, will that start to support property prices again?

No, the primary problem these days are not the prices or costs of loans but unemployment and lack of confidence on the labour market... people will not be taking mortgages If they know once they lose a job, It will be extremely difficult to find a new one.

Yes, the old jokes.. "Its different this time", "but, but, but my house is special"

The market here is indeed slightly different than in some other countries but that's not any magic... It's a matter of law... In Poland If you have 300k debt on a flat worth 200k, It's your problem, not the bank's.

Yes, true, but in towns and countryside it must be less.

Yes but in some towns someone making 3k a month is "rich".

UK, Ireland / I'm from a small town in the UK and I think Poland is a nation of criminals [37]

Some of you people need to familiarise yourselves with a concept called statistics.
The Poles are hitting well above their weight in crime. In fact I'd go as far as to say that they're PROLIFIC offenders.

If you're a Pole in the UK you're more likely to commit crime. Fact.

Please post these statistics. Thank you in advance.

Please kindly post them. I hope to hear soon from you !

Real Estate / Non Pole Applying for Mortgage in Poland [11]

I had a poor rating back in the UK and i'm concerned it will follow me here. I have lived in Poland
for 5 years now.

I doubt it, they most probably won't check it, besides in Poland even BIK (a company which run a data base with creditors' history and share it with banks) keep the records up to 5 years and delete them after that.

BTW be careful with brokers, they get paid by the banks but what many people do not know is that for the same credit bank x pays them y PLN and another one might pay twice as much... I'm not saying all are dishonest but it's better to double check on your own.
