UK, Ireland / Fish and chips - do Polish people in the UK like this? [108]

But it's all fried :(((((

Its in the deep fryer for a matter of minutes - if drained well there's no grease on it, just nice crisp batter and tender flakey white cod inside...tripple cooked chips are devine - crispy and a real treat.

How 'bout some grilled fish and baked chips :)))))

I actually quite like baked skins and grilled / steamed fish..but, we're talking about a once in a blue moon treat for fish and chips...so its not too bad..

UK, Ireland / Fish and chips - do Polish people in the UK like this? [108]

RRRRR this thread made me want to go to the fish and chip shop

Had it for lunch today :P

i did say nice pub didn't i

They use pre-packaged and pre-battered, half cooked flown in from godknows where fish...Give me a good chipper any day of the week with freshly battered and fresh fish..

Slim Chickens' grilled chicken tenders are good.

Not quite English fish and chips is it though?

Love / Polish men what is the worst thing a girl can do upon first impression? [360]

cleaning, otoh, i suck at.. so it's important.. i feel it to be a good compromise, don't you think? :D :D

Not bad, but I dont think men "suck" at cleaning, they just do a god awful first attempt so you never ask them again..cunning swines they are!

yeah but i prefer to be on a partner-like level with my guy than princess and her prince

I like this, but as long as they dont expect me to put my hand my pocket, equal ops has to stop somewhere you know ;0)

No point sitting there like an ice queen

Nothing wrong with the ice queen look, some men rather like it :D

Love / Polish men what is the worst thing a girl can do upon first impression? [360]

don't you think that Fox Mulder has quite slavic face?

Russian, Jewish, (his mums name was Miller so Im assuming a bit of English in there too).

cooking and cleaning is cool but doesn't matter at the start.. may in the long term though

Whilst you dont like racist, I cant stand sexist, someone who expected a free maid is a big turn off..

if you can't cook, clean

This is the 21st century..he should be able to do with himself..

that will make you become uninterested in her culturally speaking?

Not being yourself and trying please someone too much, most men hate this, not only Poles, you'll end up like a door mat!

and if you laugh at his jokes (i know they may not be funny but do try.

And look like some halfwit?

UK, Ireland / Fish and chips - do Polish people in the UK like this? [108]

The link was broken, but I guess you can pickle cucumber, Ive just never seen it in a chipper over by mine..I do like gurkins though..Technically we are both correct, ghurkins are baby pickled cucumbers :D

ugh, no way! Eggs are for starting a fried rice dish

Peronsally I prefer them with my bacon :D

from a nice pub yeah ok, but from a chip shop no thanks, too greasy :/

There are chippers (chinese or other) and there are Chippers (English)...there is a world of difference...

UK, Ireland / Fish and chips - do Polish people in the UK like this? [108]

i always thought they were called Gerkins ;)

Me too - (i still dont get the pickled egg thing though..yuk!) not that Id want one with my fish and chips.

is more like japanese tempura

We call it batter - same as you use the word pierogi which I would call ravioli or similar

As for the cooking method, deep frying at hot temperatures can work out healthier than shallowing frying where all the oil is just soaked up.. I had a friend make me kotlets a while ago I couldnt eat them when I noticed the amount of oil they had soaked up :(

They're called "wallies" in London, lol :)

How odd...

Travel / WHAT TO WEAR END OF JUNE FIRST WEEKS OF JULY IN WARSAW [25]

I will take jeans, shirts and pants 3/4 length. Casual.

My advice is to take some nice light weight summer dresses - a couple of maxi dresses for the evening or even the day..capri pants are a good standard, couple them with a nice fitted top..3/4 jeans look good with a nice top and a pair of gladiator sandles...

As for the taxi thing, why not ask the hotel if they can arrange a transfer - thats what I always do when I go away - lowers the chance of being ripped off :D

plus it seems the european designs arrive here about a year after they are hip in eu

You have New York fashion week and the likes of Top Shop and Zara attend, so we're actually bang up to date with whats going on - high fashion and trends change like the weather here :D

UK, Ireland / The number of Anti-English Poles... [228]

Still the proportion of HAs to council housing is bigger in Poland than in the UK. I dare to say that as I've worked on various housing stock transfer, including PFIs and ALMOs, and I've worked for HAs, ALMOs and various housing departments.

You missed my point:

My point was that we have less council housing stock (longer lists as you will be aware if you have worked for a social housing department), we dont build council houses any longer all we do is transfer stock or sell it off to council tenants or private investors for re-development - it wasnt really a comparison/competition of what we have here in the UK and what you have in Poland, that's not really my concern and nor will it ever been since I have no intention of moving to Poland to live in a council house and cry about not getting benefits ;0)

I work for an ethnical employer

What the fook is one of those?

UK, Ireland / The number of Anti-English Poles... [228]

Maybe you should have put as much effort in to finding a job, you sound like the kind of Poles we really dont want here..

Where there's blame there's a claim...

Please go back to Poland..This arogant English person would rather not have some gobshite like you living on her Island.

I understand them but why british people allowed asiatic mafia to take over DWP????

What are you talking about you halfwit!

but why they did not asked me for this in 2004?and why everything was ok for 6 years and suddentlu is not?

You sound like some 3rd world immigrant..Are you sure you're Polish?

Poland doesn't have as big council housing as UK does.

To be honest, England doesnt have a great deal of "council" housing stock, a large proportion has been sold off to housing associations, to private buyers (right to buy) and to private developers so the proportion of council housing stock is relavitely low in comparison to what it was 10 years ago. There are areas in London where the waiting list is 20 years!

So if this turd from Poland reckons he has some right because he happens to want to milk the cash cow then he is sadly mistaken...

UK, Ireland / The number of Anti-English Poles... [228]

Foreigners bit*ching about their host country is very normal.

Depends on who the foreigners are - everyone I know whose moved abroad have loved their hoste countries...so much they have no intention of coming back...I think its a class thing personally...

As for points made by Ksysia, I have no idea where she found herself but none of the people I know/came across would come up with this BS

Ksysia is proun to talking rubbish...One our first year Graduate Engineers is female and Polish..she certainaly doesnt have any problems..she sweet and sociable and she's referred to by her name not her nationality..

Those articles being sent over to Poland made to look like the UK is on an anti-Polish campaign is just garbage.

No its not.... there is a lot of ani-Polish sentiment generally because of the numbers they arrived in and because most people hear an Eastern European accent and assume its a Pole.

UK, Ireland / Are you a Polish smoker in UK? [18]

Anyone willing to help me by sending me some cigarettes from Poland. I will be happy to do this.

They'll be kept at the post office and you'll be charged the import duty on them when you go to collect - or possibly charged (criminally) for importing fags which isnt actually legal.

Love / Can 'engaged' soon to marry Polish men say I love you to their female friend? [62]

So wind up it...if your relationship is over...Its not his website, its yours, he hasnt paid for your services, so it does belong to you.

I'm just so traumatized, I didn't think heading towards marriage would be this way, I don't think i'll ever be willing to trust the next one anymore. To think that the Kasia looks like a drunken dope drowning in depression and always playing with his sympathy.

Onwards and upwards...As for the druken dope..he's playing on her sympathy too "do you love me" came from him too.... :(

Good luck and dont think all men are the same, there are some real diamonds out there..

Love / Can 'engaged' soon to marry Polish men say I love you to their female friend? [62]

where their fiance or wife can request their man to stop friendship with some female friend, would I sound 'demanding'

Yes, if you dont trust a man to have female friends then there is a problem, regardless of nationality.

As for the whole "I love you" he's talking boll*x and using his nationality to cover up lies..Its not normal to say to an ex "I love you" "do you love me"

Either sit him down and call him out on this (but dont demand anything) or finish it..What you do depends on how much you love him and how insecure you are.

UK, Ireland / The Daily Mail - coverage of the Polish people [161]

I haven't, but I do know how media works.

Then you have no idea, but I do ;0)

Well, from what I've read here it must certainly be the shittiest newspaper in all of Britain?

No, we have the Sun the Star and and Daily Mirror, the Daily Mail is actaully a news paper that is targeted at the middle classes - so you are illinformed, ignorance is bliss, all you hear is Daily Mail!

and ofcourse it influences public opinion to some extent.

lol, we all know how our we feel in our countries, the press just prey on this and the DM do this well, but to be honest, all they do is inform.

All this fuss about the DM...Im sure they are gratefull for the marketing :D Free as well, whilst you're all having a pop at the DM, the paper just prints it..and prints what people in the UK want to hear..it sells papers!

I doubt any of you have ever work within the media so therefore I doubt any of you have any idea how it works!

Life / Infant Formula - Baby food - Warsaw [10]

Why not just use whole milk (full fat), just as good if not better, I’m sure the baby is on solids now so formula isn’t essential as he/she is getting nutrients from that.

But if you really do need it try Tesco, they're an English food chain and they probably have a store in Warsaw - they'd probably have Cow and Gate
