History / Have Poles blood on their hands? :) [496]

Crow, what goes on behind closed doors will go on regardless. Don't worry, the spirit of the people shows and we all know that Tusk makes almost every decision with a view to the next election. One wrong step and he'll get it.

The Poles feel independent within the EU. Others will fight for more power in the EU.

What dangers do you see for Poland in the current setup? Under occupation, explain.

What blood needs to be spilled?

Pretty much, strzyga. A few tends to suggest more. Few would argue with that and a few would argue with that is clearer.

My native knowledge you mean. A few generally means more than few but it's all relative. A few means kilka and few, mało. It's quite a close call and much depends on intonation and context.

USA, Canada / Are Polish women marrying for US citizenship (or green card)? [19]

Foreign men pay for the CNI to get married but it's only around 600PLN, Exiled. Getting married for citizenship tends to be a trick of Pakistanis or Indians. It's quite lame really as it undermines the sanctity of marriage in our cultures. It shouldn't be merely a lever.

Love / Do Polish girls like Balkan guys? [24]

Be careful with the use of opalone in the Balkans. I've heard that it means sth like rznąć in Polish and that's a vulgar word. Most people could tell Greeks apart from southern Slavs.

Life / You are Polish if... [433]

Still, it's below the belt but I won't be too PC about it.

You pick up messages from church, e.g love your neighbour etc, then go and do what you can to go against that ;0 ;)

Life / Why Poles are so crazy about their country? [55]

I can't really comment on Baltic bread as a whole but the different varieties I tried created a good impression. There is one type of bread here without a label that is to die for too. Bread from Cieszyń to Helsinki is well worth eating!!

If you are talking counties then you are talking microbreweries and that's more a thing in Australia or the US. That's local pride, not national pride.

I am entirely at peace with people liking their own bread a lot and letting others like theirs in the same fashion.

I think Poland lacked benchmarks for so long and suffered without such yardsticks. The very use of the words better and best show this. Prefer and different would be far more appropriate words when Poles describe their country. I'd love to ask Poles that have travelled and that are more objective. I think those from the Baltic states and Finland, maybe even Germany and France, would be offended to hear talk of the best. They produce great bread too and too many just jump on the 'My mamy najlepsze' bandwagon.

Myszolow, it's a reality. If you know areas like Peterborough in England then you can see competition first hand. Many English folk see Poles doing manual labour and they base their assessment thereof.

The Polish legal adviser that I teach even mentioned it. He is not happy with some of the ambassadors that Poland has sent but life shouldn't be about judging.

History / The relations: Church and III Reich (Kosciol-NS Niemcy) [16]

What was the reaction of Polish clergymen in the Third Reich? Even Mussolini, Hitler's wartime ally, wanted Hitler to be excommunicated and that says sth. Like it or not, the RCC became deeply embroiled in politics and Jesus would surely not have wanted that.

Still, a closer tie has to be made with Poland in all this as that disgusting business was between Nazi Germany and their brutal counterparts, the Ustashe.
