Life / Would Poles prefer US or UK medical care? [112]

As accurate as those stats may well be, I have a problem with errant assignments of labels or stigmas to plain folks, such as "losers", "deadbeats" etc., without knowing their story!

Unless you've been anesthetized, if you ever need real help and it's not there, you'll know it....and you'll feel it, believe me.

At least allow us to refuse the help offered.

Nothing wrong with capitalism per se, Dirk, it simply needs to be reined in a bit:-) When functioning at its peak, you have the New Deal.

When functioning on steroids, you have Reagan or Trump.

Exactly, Chemikiem!

Man's role is to do G-d's bidding here on Earth, not pretend he IS G-d:-)
The doctor's role is to save life, first and foremost, not look first at the insurance
plan.

History / Poland and Israel getting back on the right foot...maybe [132]

Israel then deserves respect any less than Poland? The Israelis gave the Poles a chance for decades, why, several of their PMs were Polish-born, e.g

Ben Gurion.

Always easy to blame the victim, in this case Israel, for trying to survive against all imaginable odds, then turn around and blame the bullied one for retaliating as any normal human would, as it some of us are more deserving of basic human respect than others??!

I've never heard such pure garbage. Sounds almost social Darwinist.

Gee, Dirk!

You sound just like a Nazi, determining who is fit and who isn't. Have you also forgotten, "Man proposes, G-D disposes"??

Right??! What on earth's right about it? Little Israel, struggling to keep her GDP above water should be expected large Poland for merely the hint or insinuation that not all Poles were angels during the Shoah, that maybe the bullIED were also perhaps the bullIES in some cases, and for that Israel should pay??!

D'you realize how insultingly litigious that sounds?

Seems Morawiecki's still sore at Netanyahu about the latter's remarks concerning "Polish complicity" during the Big One.
I figure most hope for some reprochement, but we're not holding our breath either.

Given the high degree of commercialism afflicting American medical care, almost as like a disease which medicine itself is trying to eradicate, I'm only curious

whether Poles are satisfied with the state of medicine practiced in their country, or whether they are looking beyond their own borders, such as in England or the US.

Language / Advice needed for learning Polish Language [41]

I'd say that there's almost no on-line learning app worth it's salt! They usually stop short typically of
teaching you what you need to know.

History / If Poles were antisemitic, would they ...? [240]

Poles who were polled across Poland several years ago, according to leading Polish as well as international news agencies, considered themselves "tired" of being
"bullied" by Jews and their desire for attention (I'm quoting).

This is compared with a slightly older poll of Austrians who declared themselves DEFINITELY anti-Semitic.

History / Why are Jews pestering Poland for "proper" WW2 monetary restitution/reparations? [750]

Jews deserve reparations. The point is from which country. Poland technically was NOT an "aggressor" nation, that is, one of the Axis Powers. Germany was and therefore, as I've said before, has her cross to bear.

Do German non-Jews also deserve reparations? A tough sell, but naturally, even the "enemy" were not all in the same boat, and any average German suckered into the fight against THEIR "enemies" cannot be compared with a willing, unrepentant executioner, one of the surviving minions who did their Fueher's bidding willingly, e.g.

Oberlaender, Mengele, Clauberg etc.

There are degrees here, you know.

Language / How many tenses and cases in Polish? [33]

Of course I can speak Polish.

By that definition, your English is scarcely perfect, ergo, that makes my Polish more than acceptable....admitted errors and all!
:-)

@Dirk,

At least in the second example sentence, there's some pretense at affecting proper style, not your typical agglutination of swear words masquerading
as American English, a ploy so typical of Poles attempting to speak English and "impress" foreigners with their brash, blatant show of meaningless vulgarity!

History / Why are Jews pestering Poland for "proper" WW2 monetary restitution/reparations? [750]

Dirk,

Jews were often needed for their supposed business acumen, invited to stay in countries such as Turkey, the Ottoman Empire, later on of course, Europe.

They were acknowledged for their skills and after their usefulness had been outlived, they too were given the boot.
You know the entire shameful history, don't let's pretend we're '60's children, challenging established facts and interpretations of history merely for shock value aka

"Why were Jews needed"?, etc. or similar childish prattle.
