Real Estate / Brit buying Polish land [7]

You will of course always DO what you wish. We cannot give you any advice except BE CAREFUL.
I feel that you will end up with egg on your face. No one is going to do anything for you for free, no matter what they say now.

Let us know though, how you get on. I could be wrong - but ....

Real Estate / Brit buying Polish land [7]

The best advice I can give you is this....make TRIPLE sure that it is possible for you to buy the land. Recently, the Law on purchasing arable/farm lands has changed. I would not touch anything unless it already had a WZ attached to it. Make sure that the person you intend buying anything from has the RIGHT to sell it. Examine their paperwork carefully.

Second point: remember that you may be dealing with people who will promise you the earth, take your money and then leave you in the s*** and no one, but no one will give a damn.

Unless you speak Polish or your wife is WELL VERSED in Polish reality, be extra vigilant and extra, extra careful.

Language / SEXUAL AND PASSIONATE WORDS IN POLISH [41]

What is wrong then, with men doing the same (foot massage) to a women. Some women work (just as hard as men) and then they have all the housework to do. In many cases, they bring home more money than the man...and a woman is suppose to 'play' the role of the 'little wife?' Why? Why do men not do nice things for women anymore?

Language / SEXUAL AND PASSIONATE WORDS IN POLISH [41]

The most passionate words to a woman: have a look at my new car, my new yacht and my bank balance. Now do you see yourself with me?

Real Estate / Ostroda Property / Inheritance in Poland [3]

If you are not in the first group of relatives, you will have to pay inheritance tax. Find out which group you belong to and the inheritance tax due.

On top of that, on the sale of the house there will be tax due of 20% of the value - property tax due on sale of property. If you keep the house for at least 5 years and do not sell it, then you will not have to pay the property tax. Make sure you understand this tax due on the sale of property.

It may be that the property is not worth the amount that you will have to pay as inheritance tax and property tax. before you spend any money up-front for any translation of documents and verification of your claim, make sure that you know how much you would need to pay. You may find that your inheritance will in fact cost you money.

Work / Double payment to Poland's ZUS/NFZ? [3]

Very strange. I cannot understand why you would pay ZUS on a UK government pension? Something very strange here.
Cancel the direct debit payment at the bank and end of story. I have never heard of anyone being unable to cancel a regular payment at the bank.

Life / Do you have middle names in Poland? [12]

As regards the middle names...sometimes, the name of the person's mother was given as the second name and that is why you have men with the name of Mr X Maria surname....I was always puzzled that a man should have a woman's name as second name, but there are many older politicians with this scenario.

Work / Moving to Poland with Family - cost of living and salary? [46]

You can ask - but they have a figure in mind anyway, and if you push too hard...they may find someone else who is willing to do the job for less.

And please, please, when you are quoting foreign currency, would you please put the equivalents in pound sterling, dollars or Euros. Not everyone knows how much an INR is worth, so it is very difficult to advise you on anything. Please help us to help you.

Study / Poland. Things I Need to Know About Study Life [2]

1. It will be almost impossible for you to find any part time/temporary work without any Polish, the reason being that you cannot communicate with the majority of people.

2. Look on all websites NOW, as places for students are being snapped up. Get to know how much you need to pay.
3. Find this out from your University, but as a student - you are fully insured. Make sure you have evidence i.e. your students card and get proof that you are studying and that you are fully insured.

Real Estate / Can you take credit/mortgage in a Polish bank to buy land in Poland? [11]

You could have told us all that before.
The first thing you HAVE to prove to a bank is sources of income/income. They will then perhaps tell you how much you can borrow on that.

Then you find a piece of land (but make sure that it is with a WZ) and that the owner actually owns the land and that is it not arable land.

Then present to the bank your conception of a house. By that time it would have cost you money and nerves. Then you find a reputable construction firm and more money and more nerves. When three years down the line your house is not built and your money has run out....then worry.

I guarantee you that by the time you finish you will be lucky if you are still speaking to your wife, your business hasn't gone under and you are not in financial ruin. But hey, you know what you're doing.

In your place (and this is easy for me to say), I would find a built house (from a developer or private entity), go to the bank and see if they will play ball.

Whatever you decide, make sure that you have your feet firmly on the ground and that you are not searching or hankering after a pipe dream.

Let us know how it goes - even if only to prove me wrong.

Real Estate / Can you take credit/mortgage in a Polish bank to buy land in Poland? [11]

I don't quite get why you haven't gone to any Polish bank and asked the right questions. They will either tell you 'yes' (and give you propositions) or no or absolutely no. We are not banks here, we cannot tell you what a certain bank will do or not do.

To me, the first place is to go, show the bank your earnings/savings and show them your plans.
No bank will lend you money unless they have a guarantee that you have means to pay it back and that you can provide security. Buying a piece of land on which you may not be able to build is no security.

Life / Indian Stores in Poznan [8]

The first thing to do is to find out how many people would be interested. Stop 200 people on the street, ask them let them taste the food.

Go to another location, stop another 200 people, ask them and let them taste the food.
Go to a 3rd location, stop 200 people, ask them....
Only when you have conducted market research on at least 1,000 people chosen from various sites within the city will you have an idea whether it is worth starting a business.
