Food / Is Polish food still more natural than in the West? [142]

the only Polish food i really despise is Flaki

Here's some flaki served at my cousin's wedding. I liked the taste. In California, Mexican restaurants serve a similar soup, called menudo.

Tripe is actually high in protein. It's also eaten to assist in curing hangovers. The tripe helps absorb booze from the stomach.

Is Polish food still more natural than in the West?

I don't know about how natural it may be. Naturally better tasting imo.

My aunt makes mouth-watering zurek. Think I'll pass on the smalec though. I had a small portion on a piece of bread. I kept imaging my arteries clogging with each and every bite!

History / In Memory of victims, who had their lives cruelly taken at Treblinka Death Camp in Poland [104]

Some final photos

The crosses are symbols, representing the thousands of Polish people that were killed there. More accurate records were found concerning their deaths, as opposed to victims of other ethnicities. Information sometimes included their full name, occupation and vicinity where they had lived.

The last photo is the memorial dedicated to the many people, who suffered and perished within terrible the death camp.

History / In Memory of victims, who had their lives cruelly taken at Treblinka Death Camp in Poland [104]

Treblinka is the place where about 35 of my anchestors died

I'm very sorry to hear about the tragic endings, your numerous ancestors had experienced at Treblinka.

I've attached more photos. The first photo is somewhat graphic. It depicts a scene of charred remains of victims after cremation.

BTW, mega thanks to Beckski for these pictures

You are all very welcome. We should remember the victims and senseless killings, involving the holocaust. Sadly, we can't change history. Concentration Camps are part of Poland's history, where numerous Poles were also exterminated. We should never forget the fact, death camps had existed.

Here are more photos.

It shall not be celebrated nor honoured

I am by all means not celebrating the existing of Treblinka. I'm dedicating remembrance to the numerous victims, who suffered and were viciously murdered there.

Now let's see how many posts it takes for the usual idiots to turn this into an anti-Semitic thread

I certainly hope not. I've attached a few more photos to those who may be interested in learning more about Treblinka.

History / In Memory of victims, who had their lives cruelly taken at Treblinka Death Camp in Poland [104]

The following thread is dedicated to the hundreds of thousands of victims, who had their lives cruelly taken at Treblinka Death Camp. Visiting Treblinka is one of the saddest events, I've ever experienced. My body felt chills while riding over a small section of the road. It is where the railway leading to the camp had originally existed. The pathway can be seen in the first photo below.

Upon arrival of Treblinka it looks like a peaceful, serene forest location. Somewhere people would picnic or go camping. The extreme terror that occurred in actuality, is very difficult for many of us to comprehend.

Notice how clear and blue the sky is in the following photo. I had taken the pic from the countryside, along the road to Treblinka.

Are we going to see some more pictures?

Yup, here's a few more pics. I'm going to post more photos in some of the Polish foods threads.

It had to be awesome to see the relatives. Were you able to communicate with some of them in english?

Yes, most of my younger relatives are fluent in English. A few of them were born in Poland, but now reside in Australia.

Ya,,,,I better not.....

You are verrry bad... Sure don't see kielbasa like that in the United States, lol!

Beckski did you get any whistles from the construction workers as took the pic?

i'm sure she did! she's a hottie :D

Lol, it was a candid shot. It was rather strange seeing construction workers who weren't short, dark Latinos. That's the scenario I'm accustomed to seeing in California.

How to make a guy (Polish or other) happy?

Serve him an intimate dinner for two in the raw. That may put a smile on his grumpy face ;)

Love / The age of consent in Poland is only 15 [147]

If the legal age in PL to have sexual relations is 15 and this girl is fifteen, then I see no problem from a legal standpoint.

Unless her papa has a clean, shiny rifle to blast the guy away from his daughter...

Travel / Any PRACTICAL advice for a new visitor to Warsaw? [29]

that's not a painting?

Nope. I took the pic at night on my cell

Glad you like it:)

Thanks, I'm looking forward to returning

You are going to have to tell us all about it :)

Great historical sites and buildings. Met many wonderful relatives. Even a 90 year-old, who makes cookies with rose jam from her Polish garden. Visited the gravesites of my ancestors too.

I didn't care for the humid weather at all. I'm also sick of Hortex fruit juice!

Here's another photo of Lublin at night...

so how was Poland ? Or you are still there and never coming back;)

Sadly, I'm back home now :(

My trip was fantastic. Visited Warszawa, Lublin and Treblinka.
I feel in love with Lublin. Went to a fun, yet very long Polish wedding there. Didn't leave the reception til after 3:00 a.m. Talk about tons of food and booze galore!

Here's my favorite photo, the castle in Lublin. The pic sort of looks surreal.
I'll post more photos in a few days. I can't wait to return to Poland, possibly in the next 1-2 yrs ;)

Life / Half-naked barbers in Poland. A Haircut with a difference! [27]

how was your trip, becks?

Trip was awesome! I can't wait to return possibly next year :)

Btw, noticed a socalled gentlemen's club in Warszawa, called "New Orleans." Perhaps that place would be more enticing for the guys, as opposed to the now closed hair salon.

Love / How to find an English speaking boyfriend in Poland [110]

While visiting Warszawa one of the hotels I stayed at was the Westin. There were many business travelers there from around the world. Most of them spoke English fluently. Have a drink at the Hotel's piano bar and take a look for yourself :)

A Haircut with a difference!

There was already a previous thread regarding this business, approximately 3 years ago on PF. Same advertisement pics as well. Haven't seen any updated pics since then. Possibly the business is no longer in operation?

Food / What's your favorite Polish beer? [870]

While visiting Poland, I sampled the following 4 beers: Lech, Tyskie, Warka and Zywiec.
Lech beer has my vote.

Whoooah, the time has finally come for Beckski and her family (my sis, niece, bro, and sis-in-law) to hit Poland!

Thanks again for all the great advice. I can't wait to meet over 200+ Polish relatives at my cousin Kasia's wedding, to be held this upcoming weekend :)
