News / Designer drugs kill 18 in Poland [32]

Have you ever tried to eatthe thing which was growing on your garden?

Not these days!

I would have done some years back though. They are definitely magic mushrooms - not hard to recognise in my opinion with the distinctive size/shape/nipple etc

News / Smoking ban in Polish bars and restaurants (AT LAST!) [400]

Sweden.

One country.

I see Convex has justed posted on this.

Pubs in Ireland definitely quieter - the UK too. French bars look quieter too. I don't have enough regular experience of pubs in other countries to comment but I'm sure the ones I've mentioned are not unique.

Additionally it's very rare species

Really? I thought these were common more or less everywhere (allowing for climate obviously)

We get them in our garden : )

Love / Polish girls fall for Indian guys ? [217]

old kebab boys

Ha ha - sounds like a euphemism for some seedy group.

I can just see the documentary on their "lifestyle", faces pixelated out, voices disguised:

"I mean, yeah, I was part of the kebab boy scene for a few years - that's the original scene mind you, before the younger edgier element came through..."

Classifieds / English cuisine week in Lidl shops in Poland [203]

Polish sausages are far better then English, sorry :P

They are just different. You possibly haven't had good ones - just as I possibly haven't had many good Polish sausages (i.e. not filled with water, fat and preservatives)

Not being funny, but in my expereince many Poles in Ireland/UK will buy very cheap stuff - obviously it's not going to be very good.

Food / What's your favorite Polish beer? [870]

Draught Guinness.

'Draught' Guinness in a can.

"Extra stout" standard Guinness, in a can (or bottle).

Big difference in all three - the last one is fairly bitter.

Love / Polish women world's second most flirtatious [75]

Dutch women who play impossible to get

In my experience this isn't playing.

They are either interested - or they are not. Not much messing about with Nederlandsevrouwen ;)

Life / Any treatment centres for homos in Poland? [455]

They're condemned for the violence or hate speech.

Yes and rightly so - but how often are they prevented from marching?

What law have gay marchers broken? The ones in your pics probably sail very close to public decency laws but I'd rather my kids see that than someone pummelled unconscious.

But seriously, you wouldn't accept that from straight or gay people. It completely ruins what the majority of gay folks are trying to achieve...

I agree, but, plenty of other marches/parades have elements that are undesirable: dubious messages or slogans - even violence. Yet, these people are generally not denied the opportunity to march.

As long as you don't do parades and make all this into a political tool

Why not if it is a means to highlight certain injustices?

Any other section of society who feels they have been wronged or discriminated against will certainly do so.

Language / The Future of Polish Language [179]

I even mentioned the 'Mikado'

The standard test to determine linguistic aptitude, obviously...

UK, Ireland / The more subtle differences: Ireland/Britain v Poland [310]

Next differnece polish people like to judge people even if they don'y know facts.

C'mon, who has pi$$ed you off Zeti? : )

(I don't think it's really a difference by the way, plenty of judgemental small minded idiots around - of every nationality)

UK, Ireland / The more subtle differences: Ireland/Britain v Poland [310]

Here's a pretty subtle difference - British & Irish when pausing to find a suitable word, or simply "thinking out loud" tend to say Ehhhh or Uhhhh - sometimes ending in an "M"

Every Pole I've met does a "tight-lipped" version, without vowel sounds - they only ever seem to say Mmmmm
