History / The Untold Battle of Britain [205]

.

Fully trained? Amongst other problems,

Thats simple type conversion, something all pilots have to undergo when they change aircraft type.

Harry you are more of a bullshitter than liar. Economical with the truth.

Life / How much does it cost to live in Poland? [42]

Drink two cups of 3.2%, half a liter and that is 50% of your saturated fat intake for the day. I reckon most cornflake eaters can hit half a litre with white coffee/tea.

Drink 0% fat milk and you get none of that.

Love / Best way to find a Polish husband...ideas? [120]

ugh

Its a simple fact. Very few guys under 25 want to get married and settle down. Maybe 30+ is too old for you (obviously you care about it more that you seem to want to accept), but try 25-30 year olds, 27 is a good age to get married for guys.

Nice generalisation. Replace "men" with "women", and you've described my ex-girlfriend, but you won't see me suggesting that most women are like that.

QFT.

really, that was a massive seller for them. It is simlar in the UK, green top 2% milk gets twice as much space as the blue tops. Its funny watching all the fat people grabbing their green topped milk thinking ohh yeah thats right - im healthy.

In one litre, 1.2% fat is 12grams, about 25% of the recommended daily fat intake and 50% of the saturated fat intake.

I say its a big difference.

but does Polish 2% milk taste the same as U.S 2% milk??

Probably not. I remeber thinking American milk tastes funny. So you may think the same with Polish Milk, there is a lot that can affect the taste.

Law / Question about the drinking laws of Poland. [45]

You will get a fine, proving its not vodka will be impossible, they are not going to test it.

Related: Are there any restriction about Alcohol sales on campus in Poland?

I am making a research about alcohol ban at university level. So, I really need to know if there are any restrictions about alcohol sale on Polish Universities. I would be glad if you answer/comment.

As far as I am aware alcohol is not on sale at any food/beverage outlet at my Polish uni. I would be very surprised if this were not the case elsewhere.

Having said that, my uni rents space to a bar attached to its building.

Life / Is it McPoland? [63]

??
Yes, I like to treat myself to my own excrement occasionally.

You can't be serious. Anything is better than McShite, KFC for instance.

Life / Is it McPoland? [63]

McDonalds serves it's purpose for those who want a quick bite or tummy filler on the go.

Its very expensive compared to Polish food and my family complained of nausea after their first and last ever visit.

Unless you speak Polish fluently or want to teach English theres virtually nothing.

Some outsourced companies operate in English only. There are 40k outsourcing employees in Krakow alone.

News / Poland's Economy Is Booming! The EU's Success Story? [711]

UEFA: Euro 2012 exceeded expectations

This summer's Euro 2012 soccer tournament has been declared a great success by UEFA and local organizing body PL.2012.

According to PL.2012, the improvement in Poland's image post-Euro 2012 will also bring in an additional 500,000 tourists annually.

Actually - no, it can't. American law (and this site is hosted in the US) makes it clear that the content publisher is not liable for what's posted.

Sorry, thats wrong, dangerously so.

Liable law (and all other laws such as racism) can be applied in any country where that content can be accessed. This is why the UK is the liable capital of the world, every nationality of he world goes there because the laws are biased against the defendant. The only requirement is that anyone from the UK can access the content, in one case only six people viewed an obscure story in the Uk and UK law was deemed applicable.

The content provider is only un-liable if anything suspect is immediately removed and they can show that it was policed.

The US authorities will apply EU law automatically in criminal cases, US laws such as 'freedom of speech' don't apply to EU. Although I liable isn't a crime, so extradition doesn't probably doesn't apply, but fines and seizing of assets will do.

Bottom line is its probably better to be careful, I don't know if the site owner has EU assets,

Feedback / Daily/Weekly Polls (suggestion) [19]

who is or would vote for whomever in the 2012 Presidential Election, whether Casey Anthony is actually guilty or innocent,

Thats so off topic we don't need to discuss or Poll on it. This supposed to be about Poland not the entire world.

This should have gone to the bin as soon as you posted.

Posting a rumor about a company can make you (this website) liable. I posted only a link so readers can make their own conclusions without embellishment.

Real Estate / Poland's apartment prices continue to fall [1844]

Housing development is different from civil engineering, unfortunately the Polish media calls everyone builders and does not differentiate between the two. A doctor is not a surgeon although they are both in the medical profession.

Avalon is perfectly correct, Civil Engineering is completely different from house/apartment building, the demise of Civil Engineering firms will have almost no impact on housebuilding. Banks, for instance, will continue to lend to house builders while they refuse to lend to infrastructure builders.

Even if a company does both, and the civil engineer is bankrupt, the building subsidiary will be sold off to continue in business.

Real Estate / Polish Property - should I keep renting it out? [17]

. I wouldn't advice the 2nd choice..

Neither would I, firstly because he could end up in jail for it and secondly so could anyone else who advised him to commit a crime.

Life / Is Poland a poor country? [578]

Actually, you probably can't. Food in Poland is absurdly cheap, especially meat.

I have a friend who lives in Nigeria (he's a UK customs and immigration officer who pre-screens travelers). Food is diabolically expensive, 3-4 times more than the UK.

Life / Schizophrenia treatment in Poland [19]

Its pretty sure bet you'll be forking out for the medication from your own pocket.

Having untreated schizophrenia patients would be very noticeable (1% of the population suffers from it) so I doubt even Poland would allow it. Untreated they can be dangerous.

There are psychiatrists and psychy nurses who speak English but he can't rely on finding one in the right place at the right time.

Every contact I've had with medical, dental and pharmacy's staff has been in English. All the nurses in my wife's course have to speak English to pass their degree, for instance.

Pharmacists always seem to speak English, its seems to be a requirement in all countries.

Real Estate / Polish Property - should I keep renting it out? [17]

This is apparently true. Any EU assets would be a target.

And don't try dying to get out of the debt, they will chase your next of kin.

Also, I have heard of a credit card company chasing a debt to Thailand.

Real Estate / Poland's apartment prices continue to fall [1844]

although it is directly linked to the value of a property - in the UK.

Very loosely.

In some US states its 8% per year, council tax on a average million pound house is no where near £80K and trivial in comparison. In fact council tax is based on bands - so rising house prices do NOT increase he tax you pay as all prices rise together. You pay more RELATIVELY than a cheaper house but the absolute amount is always approximately the same and doesn't rise and fall with prices.

Real Estate / Poland's apartment prices continue to fall [1844]

There is no property tax in the UK, unlike the US. Council tax is not property tax as its not based on a percentage of valuation.

UK, Ireland / Crying Polish truck driver on British roads is Internet hit [269]

Oh.and as an aside Traffic cops are notorious even amongst fellow cops for not letting anyone off if the offence is serious enough, there have been a few cases over the last couple of years of Traffic cops landing very senior Police officers in court on Drunk Driving charges :)

I always remember two coppers discussing the back road route they were going to take to get back to the police station. Apparently they were trying to avoid the traffic cops who would never miss an opportunity to prosecute normal cops. They would single out Police for special treatment and the police were scared of them.

Real Estate / Poland's apartment prices continue to fall [1844]

If the price in the first place was inflated over 80% and then it falls 80% to a more realistic price--does not make it a crash. If the prices fall 100% then it is a crash of 20% under what the price should have been.

Yes, thats precisely what it is.

And you really should either learn what percentages mean or keep quiet, because its embarrassing.

If people are parking on the shoulder it's because there isn't another place for them to park.

No, they don't park on hard shoulder - they are monitored and the Police arrive in minutes. 'Parking' is impossible.
