Life / Polish people and racism. [943]

i have read it again, something about the Brits not being angels???

Now now Torny. I never said that. It's not important anyway. He mentioned sth about Brits and grammar/spelling....and I just said That's The British..whatever, not important.

Legion, I hope you didn't learn your WW2 History in the US....a bit sketchy in some schools ;)

Well, that's the British (when did we start discussing Brits?). When's the last time you've walked on water?

So tell me then, oh grand master of Poles. :)

You're the only one that claiming to be a grandmaster. You're all over the forum claiming to know everything Polish.

Tut tut.... Lets resort to poking fun. I thought you were an adult. I know what you said, and you still don't know the majority of Poles.

Us who? You speak for PL and all the Poles in this forum? When was the last time you were in PL....as a child?

You don't live there, so nuff said stands.

But he seems capable of rational debate so let's see his retort.

I seemed capable enough to walk to the fridge for a beer, but fell over my shoe...gleba.

The point is you may think we are this or that

I don't see how you are speaking for all of Poland....especially when you aren't there. Nuff said...

USA, Canada / How to get Drivers license in IL without social security? [96]

When you do things illegally you ruin chances for others who deserve. Can't say you don't deserve, but try to do things the right way. We don't want to ask a few yrs from now why PL is still not in the VWP.

Love / Not used to dating a Polish man [28]

I'd look around in Bklyn then. NJ is ok, but it seems liek most are born here. Maybe there are students, but it looks like you may want someone older. I'd try going out in Greenpoint or Williamsburg

Good luck...there are plenty here in NJ. Ever go out in Brooklyn? The accent thing is kinds strange...are you seroius with that? If this is really an issue, then why don't you meet someone in Poland?

Love / Asian guy in love with Polish girl (any chance?) [125]

nobody on this forum seems to have heard of Greenpoint

We have a few people from NY-NJ here and most have heard of greenpoint. I don't see what your trouble is. Just ask her out. What's the worst she can say? "No, I don't like Asians"? Then she isn't worth it anyway. You're from NY...gotta be a mover...no time for soap operas :)

UK, Ireland / A collection of noimmigration's threads or "STAY AWAY from BRITAIN" [978]

poles undercutting wages

Maybe I'm confused, but isn't it employers that do the hiring? And if they're charging less for the jobs, then it's more of a competition issue. We have people undercutting everyday...it's part of the business.

Not too long. I just started taking classes a few months ago, but I've been to Poland a few times and try to learn a little while I'm there. I know some vocabulary, but forming sentences and declinating are a bit confusing at this point. There seem to be many rules that my teacher doesn't explain well; She just says that the more I see and use, the more sense it'll make and will come naturally.

Yes, but even when we have a so called unemployment boom, there's always undesireable work that needs to be done....somewhere. When we're laid off, we can collect for 6 mos and for some reason people end up getting extensions. When I really need money and in a bind, I'll do whatever is necessary to make a buck...legally of course :)

It's not so so bad here. As does the UK, we also have many Americans collecting from the gov't and refusing to take work on a farm or washing dishes. It's easier to claim disability. We need many of these workers on our farms and would suffer if we didn't have them. They do strain the country a bit, but we are rather large in comparison and I'd rather have them then lazy people who don't want to work.

Life / Is the word "Polack"rascist? [185]

And everyone feeds into this noimmi fella. It's obvious he lacks.

The Polish where I live don't take offense. "Pole" or "Polack" are ok if used in a respectable context.

Food / Bread Baking in Poland [65]

Then you'd like Paluchy. It's a long braided roll. They're only made in 1 place and by a family who only sells it there (off season maybe a local market...who knows). It's made fresh every morning and you have to wait in line to get it fresh, but no matter how long you wait it's worth it.

Life / POLES FIND CZECH FUNNY! [42]

the Poles are way friendlier towards the Czechs than the Czechs towards Poles. I've heard horror stories about the treatment of Polish tourists, including women.

This is true. I went on a ski holiday to CZ and they do have a snobbish attitude towards the PL. I was receiving the same treatment until they found out I was American. Their attitude took a 180 deg. turn. I've noticed that the German tourists were also treated much better. Regardless of who's visiting you, these people are still spending money, why treeat them any different?
