Study / American Muslim girl thinking to go to Medical school in Poland... [87]

hey emoh. i come from the states and although i am not black i grew up in a mixed neighborhood. I live in warsaw not lodz. my friends from lodz tell me there are some africans there in medical school concerning you not being the only black person. of course you will stand out in a almost exclusively white catholic nation. it doesnt mean you will be harassed or bothered any more than if you were in the white parts of the states. I met a turkish girl here in warsaw who wore the head scarf and she was in school and seemed to like it here just fine. Personally I think you would be better off in warsaw as there are substantially more foreigners here but I am a bit biased

Travel / Praga, Warsaw - looking for some hippish cafes [15]

I know there is a street in praga, warsaw with some hippish cafes. I was over there yesterday looking around but couldnt come across it and everything was closed anyways. Does anybody know where it is? I read about it in a magazine but cant remember which one.

so I have little sympathy

the situations are completely different. poles have to pay 100 dollars just to apply for a visa with no reimbursement if denied. americans get 90 days free of charge. as well there are loads of americans staying in poland illegally. as far as poles illegally in the usa people do things simply for economic reasons. those days seem gone as far as poland is concerned at least so far. if the usa would offer some sort of amnesty i bet many poles would leave the usa but they dont because of fear of getting caught and being black listed

if u have money in the bank and a stable job as well as assets to return to then you have a good chance. one of my students went recently without a problem but that is from warsaw

if he comes there then you can see. that is the best. i used to live in asia and I understand the thinking. and it is different than the west but up to the point of meeting him in person and getting to know him like that you dont really know the guy. live your life, enjoy your internet connection with him but dont hold your breath

nice me also I am in warsaw which has some suprisingly good riding here even some offroad trails I have pieced together a nice 2 hour loop around the city which I try to do regularly part of the trail goes beside the vistula which can be very nice

Hmm so I went to Namaste and I must say I was unimpressed. I lived in India off and on for the past 8 years. Nice people and atmosphere but the food was subpar unfortunately and I was a bit put off by the plastic forks and so forth. I would say the Vega at Kino Femina is far better quality and value. Just my two cents, no offense to the Namaste people. I met some Punjabis and had a nice chat. But of course it could just be taste. For me there was no taste and for my polish friend it was too spicy. At Vega you can get a full meal for the price of jeera rice at Namaste.

hmmm vega is hari krishna? that is news to me. I eat there quite often and you can eat for 10zl and I havent seen any haris running around. And call centers are good jobs for Indians and they are good for the west as well
