Genealogy / Polish blood only makes up 1% of your "Polishness" [77]

It's sounds like one of the British migrants who agitate against Polonia on PF sent you a PM.

Incorrect.
It was actually Goofy, a '100% Polish' migrant living in the UK, who told Mochadot that she wasn't Polish (openly on live chat).
He said the Polish 'blood' accounts for only 1%, the other 99% being some wierd sense of patriotism... how very ironic :D

Mocha, tbh having spoken to you a bit, you do come across as a typical American young lady. I can't see much of the 'Polish' in your character.

Although you were born Polish, you are definitely American culturally. But don't worry, there's still hope for you yet xD
Please do not take offence, this is just my humble opinion.

News / Poland's John Paul the Great canonisation this year [177]

No. Your are not alone in your thinking.
Fortunately many Catholics in Poland choose not to adhere to this and choose instead to 'sin' xD
The low-birth rate in Poland is proof of this :)
Unforunately, the damage that has been done in poorer parts of the world cannot be undone.
That guys has a lot of blood on his hands. Surely he couldn't have met his maker with a clear conscience.

Life / Polish natural remedies and homeopathey better than English [84]

In the UK they almost always hand over a prescription for drugs.

That's because there is no profit in natural remedies.
Drugs on the other hand....

Isn't it strange that people would prefer to trust a white pill full of nasty chemicals than go with mother nature?

Work / HSBC jobs in the Finance departments in Krakow [4]

Has anyone experience with this company?

Yes. They are a crap bank. Their customer service is awful.
I sacked them and now bank with Barclays :)

I have an offer from them, but i would like to get some insight in the company culture, working hours (long days?), growing potential, etc

I'm sure you did some research before you applied for the job, right?
You should have discussed with issues in your interview.
Make sure they put your rate of pay and your working hours on the contract...

Language / Dla Anii or Ani? [17]

Well, what does Ania say?
I'd just go with 'Dla Ani' personally...

News / Poland's John Paul the Great canonisation this year [177]

According to Italian media reports close to the Vatican, the late Pope John Paul II appears likely to be canonised towards the end of the year. October and December dates have been suggested. Surveys taken in Poland have shown that most Poles regard JPII as the greatest Pole that ever lived. He has been called the Apostle of Life, having condemned all forms of killing: murder, abortion, euthanasia and war. Canonisaiton officiallly elevates a person to Catholic sainthood.

Well, they can make this guy a saint but he and his church will still have the blood of millions on their hands.
I would imagine his soul will spend eternity burning in hell.

In September 1990, John Paul II visited the small town of Mwanza, in northern Tanzania, and gave a speech that many believe set the tone for the AIDS crisis in Africa. Being unequivocal, he told his audience that condoms were a sin in any circumstances. He lauded family values and praised fidelity and abstinence as the only true ways to combat the disease.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholic_Church_and_HIV/AIDS#Pope_John_Paul_II

He failed as a Pope as he forbade the use of something which, ironically, could have saved many lives.
He also refused to grant or even consider women equal status in the church whilst pretecting all kinds of paedophiles.
I could also mention the greed of wealth the complete failure of the church to help the poor... but what's the point?
If this guy is a hero, and a saint... I'd hate to see what an evil and unpopular pope is like...

Love / Polish Farm Women [34]

So, she was actually an American?

And you can't find any other women who have 'amazing traits' in a country with a population of over 300 million?

Where would I have the best prospect for meeting a quality Polish woman who wouldn't mind settling down in the countryside in Indiana?

I don't know if such a women exists... if she does then maybe try your lucky in Poland - she lies just East of Germany on the map ;)

Love / Fresh, wholesome country lass in Poland - getting married and going back to the US [167]

Oh, he's lost quite a bit to few of them, Marynka, but I think it was still cheaper than hiring a full time cook, housekeeper, gardener, companion...

Many just give up, or he wears them down. Few walk away with nothing.

Maybe if he paid them a fair wage for being "a full-time cook, housekeeper, gardener, and 'companion' ", they would have either stuck around or walked away with a fatter bank account.. :P

As long as her hymen is intact, what does it matter?

I have visions of this old dude going to nightclubs and discretely asking young girls if their hymen is in tact... it's beyond pathetic.

USA, Canada / General differences between Poland and the USA? [184]

You are joking...!?!
I first first used Chip and PIN in New Zealand like 10 years ago...
On the flip side of the coin, I'm sure you don't have to pay for a bank account in US...

USA, Canada / General differences between Poland and the USA? [184]

Also so what is the difference between these chips in the cards and what we currently use?

Do you not use Chip and PIN in the States?
Have you never heard of EMV?
The French introduced the system over 20 years ago and the UK has been using it for 10 years now... it sounds a little strange that US still hasn't caught up with the rest of the world...
