Work / A few questions for regarding EU and Poland - worker registration [8]

Hello, I want to apologize beforehand for my ignorance in this matter, but after searching for long hours I couldn't find a better place for clear answers than here.

Here is the thing... I understand Poland became a full member of the E.U. in 2004. (Congratulations!!). But I understand Poles that want to live and work in the UK need to register with WRS (Worker Registration Scheme) if they want to work for more than one month there.

- Is this something that requires a YES or NO answer from UK authorities? In other words, Can it be denied? or is it always approved but it needs to be done anyway (bureaucracy).

- Do English citizens have to do the same in Poland?

- How long until Poles wouldn't need to register anymore. Will this change in the future?

- Are there other countries inside the E.U. that requires registration as well?

Thank you very much in advance.!!!

Love / Italian girl has a question about a Polish man [21]

Just give me a number to text you and you won't have to worry about me getting lost for days at a time. I'll text you every day if you want me to. And I will marry you if you need me to do so. Did you say you are a model?

Language / Pimsleur's Polish Lessons [38]

I just finished Lesson 30 last weekend. But remember that you have to repeat each lesson until you feel comfortable enough to start the next one.

Unfortunately, the Pimsleur system will not teach you how to read or write, and I think this is crucial.
I just received by mail my complete course of Rossetta Stone for Polish which I will start next week.
Supposedly, Rosseta Stone will teach how to "think" in Polish.
I already tried a few lessons and I loved it.

Pimsleur system doesn't have level 2 or 3. But Rossetta Store does.

News / Poland: In Top First 15 Countries in the WORLD by the number of CRIMES [286]

I say thats just a bunch of Crap.
I'm from Venezuela, and I can tell you that violence and crimes in Venezuela CAN NOT be less then in Poland. What they show on those sites is really laughable. There are 50 + murders in CARACAS ONLY every weekend. I can not imagine 50 + murders in Warsaw every weekend to place Poland as a more violent country then Venezuela. Come on!

I think Poland is one of the safest places on earth if you don't like to get in trouble.
If you don't like violence. You shall not find it.

USA, Canada / Differences in How Polish People Raise a Child and How Americans Raise a Child [149]

Sorry for the intrusion. But I must mention that I live in America too.
You have just described my wife when we had all of our three children. They looked like wrapped tamales even when it was hot. She slept with each kid on the bed just to make sure they would sleep OK and would wake up at 3 in the morning just to make sure they are breathing OK. The difference is... my wife is mexican.

So obviously, it doesn't have anything to do with nationality. I would dare to say that it has to do with "morality".

You see... American women don't treat their kids the way a polish or mexican woman would.
In result, you have kids that are having sex at the age of 9, or doing heavy drugs at the age of 13, 14. That's why you have shootings inside schools every year in america, when you don't see that on any other country. Why? because parents don't show love to their kids. They don't protect them enough.

That's why, my friend, you should be proud of your wife and love her even more. She is raising a kid with love that would grow to be a fine man; and not a punk that is going to make tomorrow's news.

Just my opinion.

USA, Canada / REFUSED A HOLIDAY VISA TO THE U.S CAUSE IM POLISH [323]

**** them!

I Agree!
More over... Why go to the US in the first place, when there are plenty of cities around the world that will receive tourists with opened arms. Too many places you can visit that are (by far) a lot better then those decaying cities in the US.

Not only that... But New York City? You have to be kidding me! That's one of the most dangerous cities in the world. If you don't get killed or robbed, you will end up asking yourself... What's here to visit? Perhaps the Statue of Liberty. Ironically, the symbol of hope for immigrants.

When you can finally obtain a visa to go to New York, make sure you snap a picture of the text written underneath the statue of liberty:

"...Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Then walk away from that little island and you will be surrounded with anti-immigrant and racist propaganda everywhere.

Food / Why is it that some Polish people refuse to eat anything that is not Polish? [120]

I'm not polish, but I would eat polish food every day if possible!!!
I got tired of american food and mexican food. For me, polish food is the best. But that's just me and my own personal taste for food.

Unfortunately, I'm surrounded by american, mexican and center-american food, since I live in Texas, US. And it has been years since I enjoyed good food from my grandma who is Polish and knew how to cook good polish food.

Once again... My own personal taste.
It is possible that you miss your country's food so bad, that are now complaining about poles eating their own dishes on a daily basis.

I don't blame you, but I don't blame the poles either.

UK, Ireland / Cheap calls to the UK from Poland [30]

Dzien dobry!

I would recommend something I used every day to talk to my father (yes, I talk to him every day... jajaja). He is in Venezuela and I'm in Houston. We talk all we want for only 19 US dollars a year.

It's called, MagicJack. Its a device that you can buy online and will give you your own number. You plug the thing on the USB port of you PC and thats it. on the other end, you plug a regular phone and you are set to call for free to any number in the US and Canada.

However, you want to call to the UK. All you have to do in this case is get a second magicjack and send it to your family in the UK. Then, you can call them to their magicjack number. Each magicjack is 39 US$ and it includes your first year. I think it's fabulous, but if you don't like VOIP devices, then I suggest you find a very cheap plan to call from your landline phone. (perhaps prepaid cards).

Good luck!
