Love / Polish Girls vs Russian Girls [813]

Polish girls can be very ****** and stuborn while Russian girls are intelligent and corrupt

So Polish girls are dumb, but correct b^itches. While Russian girls are smart, incorrect nice girls??

makes no sense at all if you ask me.

Every girl can be b^itchy or smart or dumb. It all depends on how they are raised.

News / What's the stupidest question asked about Poland? [414]

"Are the girls hot in Poland?"

We should never have let them leave Poland. Everyone wants them now :)

Also, a couple of unedumacated people I know asked if the people in Poland were retarded for spelling Arthur without the "h". So I asked them if Americans were retarded for giving their kids two first names like "Billy Bob" "Jimmmy Nelson".

And they said "Well at least we can spell Arthur!"

Me: "Well my countries been around since 966 A.D. and sorry if we offend you with our native langauge that has been around for over 2,000 years compared to the langauge you turned to **** after you borrowed it."

Them: "Uhh....What?"

History / Poles and Russians -- love-hate relationship? [209]

There's the difference between people and governments. Russians even like Poles a bit, Poles maybe not like Russians, but we definately don't hate them.

Could you imagine a world without Russians? Russians kinda make our lives a little more fuller. I bet the Russians think the same way. What would Russians do or talk about if Poland never existed. I bet there is a Russian forum out there on the internet debating this same issue. :)

wow I'm an idot. I said "more fuller".

Haha. You know what I mean :)

Russians are with us.....

I guess a bunch of protestors were arrested in Petersburg when they protested the Kremlin. :) See. They don't hate us....well maybe not all of them.

Any news about this? Only got a 2 minute story from CNN.

Love / Why do Polish women prefer foreigners for boyfriends and husbands? [418]

People in IT are usually geeky, badly dressed and have no personality, or is that just a stereotype?

That is very much a stereotype. The way you dress depends on where you live. My cousins work with computers and they are far from geeky looking. They are party animals and one of them, Jakub, is dating a cheerleader for Erie, PA's Arena football team.

The Erie Freeze, anybody in US hear of them?? Their cheerleaders are called the Chillerz, that might help. God knows I pay more attention to them than the game. :)

Genealogy / Is tallness common among Polish people? [201]

suggest you go to Ireland and try the food, I dont have time to waste on writing every dish that is served.

i just wanted a general answer, like mostly seafood or different types of meats. that sort of stuff

I dont think its so easy to attach this claim to one european country?

yeah a country can't be labelled tall ot short, but areas can. Most countries around the Baltic tend to have taller people, while the mediterranean countries have shorter people. On Average of course.

Genealogy / Is tallness common among Polish people? [201]

my mother's side of the family tends to be average height around 6 feet tall, but my father's side is huge. Most of the guys are around the 6'4 - 6'7 range and are built like oxes. My smallest uncle weighs 205lbs. (srry dunno how to convert to Kilos) and my father being the oldest is past his prime. His most massive...well...mass was during the army in Poland where he was 6'6 and 230lbs. he's shrinking now, haha oldy, and losing some weight.

but then look at Mariusz Pudzionawski - all Poles have heard of him- he is 5'9 and 300lbs. Now thats a meaty ox. What animal would he be? A friggen rhino i guess.

News / What's the stupidest question asked about Poland? [414]

someone asked me if it snowed all the time! and was it anywhere near the North Pole!

someone once asked me if it was true that Polar Bears walked down the streets of Warsaw occasionally. Dead serious, a couple American kids believed this. sad really.

another good one was, while me and my father were sitting on a bus going to a hockey game, NJ Devils RULE!!!, and someone heard us speaking Polish she said: "Why, you're not speaking a dialect of German are you? I can't understand a single thing you are saying" My father replied: "No....we're speaking Polish...." so she says: "Oh, so you have your own language....."

History / Kosciuszko Squadron - why don't they bring it back? [45]

23th AFB and 1st squadron continue traditions of 7th squadron from Polish-Bolshevik war and 303 squadron from WW2.

do they still call themselves the Kosciuszko squadron, or do they just honor them and what not? sorry, i can speak Polish just fine, but have a hard time reading and writing because of living in the US.

History / Kosciuszko Squadron - why don't they bring it back? [45]

well, do you know of Pilsudski and Koscuiszko- the Polish generals who helped Washington's Army at Valley Forge, PA during the US revolution? well those 2 generals basically saved, along with a German and the French, the American cause. A man by the surname of Cooper fought with both men and told stories of it to his son, and his grandson.

This brings us to Merian C. Cooper. He was fascinated by the stories and believed America owed a debt to Poland. So after WW1, during the Polish/Soviet War, he met up with a few other US pilots and went to Poland to reapy this debt. There, he met up with the Americans who joined, most notable was Cedric Fauntleroy. He had also heard stories of the original two Poles and they named their American Squadron the "Kosciuszko Squadron" of the 111st Escadrille in teh Polish Airforce. They sweeped the Cossack and Tartar hosremen and helped save teh Polish army many times. After the war Poland put up statues of them and thanked them for their help, they were the biggest heroes of the time.

Then Jan Zumbach, Witold Urbanowicz, Witold Lokucziewski, and Miroslaw Feric were put under the command of Zdzislaw Kransodebski and formed the new "Koscuiszko Squadron". All these men were the modern Husiars of their time. They were fascinated with flying and were considered Poland's best pilots. The graduated flight school at Deblin, where they also learned how to be gentleman and how to attend proper balls and dances.

When the Nazis attacked the Polish Airforce had inferior planes and quickly fled to Romania, later to France, and then Great Britain. They were forced to only train while British pilots were dying fast and fresh recruits were put into planes after only a weeks training. Soon enough they finally used Polish pilots and quickly learned, that the 8,000 Polish airmen they had in GB at the time were going to save England. They became "the glamour boys of england" and were heroes. Movies and books were made about them during the war. They became Polish 303 squadron, but still reffered to themselves as the "Kosciuszko Squadron". They have more kills recorded in a single battle than any other RAF contingent in RAF history.

I wish i could tell you the whole story but you should really read the book, i do it no justice. it was written by two British authors and it will give you a whole new respect for Poland.

Its called "A Question of Honor" it is one of the greatest books you will read. Also "The Forgotten Few" is another good one, that deals with all eastern pilots-Poles, Czechs, etc.

questionofhonor.com/ - here's the website, you can by the english version or the Polish. I am pretty sure they plan on making this into a movie, but I am not positive.

I hope you read it.
