Life / What is the reaction of Poles to Russian? [95]

In many countries of the Eastern Block you still get further with Russian than any other language.
And im not talking about all inclusive holidays there.
Its changing though, depending of the education rate in said countries.

Travel / Starbucks in Poland? [149]

Its the same with Burger King, everything coming from the West was worshiped after the fall of the curtain.

USA, Canada / Polonia - say goodbye to public WiFi America [12]

OK, im giving up, here is a collection of the best answers so far:

coffee-houses and restaurants will put some time restrictions on their networks

2.

90% of (responsible) users have a password on their Network.

1.

Oh Heavens, this place might become bearable again

Travel / Ski in Slovakia - from Poland [3]

I also prefer the Karkonosze ;), although its Harrachov for us, since it has comparable infrastructure and is better to reach.
In general the connection to the Czech Republic and Slovakia is terrible, though.

USA, Canada / Polonia - say goodbye to public WiFi America [12]

hey, you still got your little beef whistle to play with and I bet you enjoy it very much, don't you berni?

Thats it? Troll yourself back to your cave.

90% of (responsible) users have a password on their Network. 99% in high traffic areas like apartment complexes or college areas.

What does this have to do with how users log on? They log in or not, the provider gets warnings deservedly or not, hotspots are shut down. Simple as that.

..and this has got what to do with Poland?

Its in the Polonia USA forum, some important info for Poles living there, or not?

USA, Canada / Polonia - say goodbye to public WiFi America [12]

"During the coming weeks the controversial "six-strikes" anti-piracy system will kick off in the U.S."

"Among other things, offenders will have to watch a video about the consequences of online piracy, before their speeds are reduced to 256kbps."

What this basically means is that, if public hotspot owners dont implement rigorous filters, they will be shut down pretty soon.
And that not necessarily for infringing any copyright mafia laws, since not everything on Rapidshare or every Torrent is copyright, although they would like you to believe so.

"Leaked AT&T documents showed that they will block users' access to some of the most frequently-visited websites on the Internet, until they complete a copyright course."

So, congratulations from Europe on combating the copyright murders and free access to information.

But hey, you still have your guns to play with.

Language / How hard is it to learn Polish? [178]

So any native English speaker should be able to learn German language in a flash - according to your logic¬!

Certainly faster than a Slavic language, even though its easier the other way round, since German is more complex.
Lets take you for example, you have been studying English for years and you still fail to comprehend the concept of definite and indefinite articles.

Thats because:
a) You have a completely different linguistic background
or
b) You are intellectually challenged

News / What should Poland do to solve the population crisis? [101]

In case you didnt notice Huxleys book was criticism of the 30s.
Some people might enjoy a totalitarian system, where the state or whoever tells everybody what they can and cant do.
But didnt it seem a tad...hmm...bland to you?

News / Highlights of passing year, in Poland (or elsewhere) which made hot discussions in PF [57]

EURO CUP!!!!

I'll confirm to that!!!!

Yeah, that was awesome and certainly helped the badly needed infrastructure.

Oh and a stability to the economy in comparison to many other EU. Surely that is a forward and positive event regardless how fleeting

Poland handled that astonishingly well in light of the worrying public depth cumulated in just 20 years.

USA, Canada / Totalization Agreement Between the U.S. & Poland [3]

Not sure if this helps but to be eligible for lower taxes you have to reside within the state for 6 months(during one year!) if you live the rest of your time abroad.

Food / What made in Poland produce would you recommend [110]

For your information making chocolate is not magic.
With the right ingredients they all taste the same, may it be in the UK, Switzerland or Poland.
Saying that the Swiss or Belgians found the philosophers stone of making chocolate is a myth.

Life / Is Poland a poor country? [578]

I hardly think so, the most educated and determined people go abroad.
If it has affected unemployment rates in Poland, it is most certainly for the worse.

Life / Do Polish people know a lot about the world ? [16]

Brazilians have roads through the jungle to reach distant areas when they hunt for or gather food in the wilderness.

You know how that sounds?
Brazil has prolly the best roads in South America, including big highways along the coast and also inland.
And even if its hard to imagine there are a few countries beside Poland that discovered the wheel and gave up hunting a few years ago.

News / Wigilia for homeless & needy [18]

Honestly,I would like to start something like that in Warsaw but in a smaller scale initially with volunteers. If anyone has ideas mail me as I will soon be moving to Poland permanently retiring and have no hobbies.

It would be nice to see a charity not in church hands.
Not that i care if its charitable and the church would chip in, but because i dont think they can handle it logistically and efficiently.

It might also improve the resentments towards foreigners, which is a great idea.

Life / Which services is Poland still waiting for? [218]

haha, why yes.....and they just so happen to be the cheapest place to stay available.

Im sure i never said otherwise, but i have no time to find where you ripped it out of context.
