Life / Which sim card to buy in Poland? [30]

i am thinking about buying Play too. but what about their network reception and internet speed?

First check starter Orange Free na kartę 1GB limit for 20zł
I think they have better coverage than PLAY.

Play Fresh - oferta na kartę price is 9zł and 1GB for 25zł

Life / What are the requirements to get a cell phone here in Krakow? [22]

All the people at the cell phone stores (Play, t-Mobile, Orange) say they don't speak English.

Don't go to brand stores. They are con men. In Media Markt or Euro AGD you can buy whatever you want.
Now when you have handset and sim card you can log in on PLAY website and buy internet acces 25MB, 100MB, 500MB limit etc

Life / The Blame Game (Have you ever noticed that a Polish person is never wrong!?) [205]

I thought that Poland would evolve, change rapidly to absorb, Western ideas. I was wrong, people said that it would take 15 years, even that was optomistic!!!

It's like running in a dream. Everything happens in slow motion ;) So you understand now why we are going to UK. We wish taste a logical thinking but not eat it forever. We still want have a place where can take a rest from logical thinking (hmm because we are lazy? ;)

Life / What are the requirements to get a cell phone here in Krakow? [22]

Now I have another problem. The language. I went to several stores and no one could speak English.

Do you really need Polish? Why not to go to the Media Markt or Saturn store and buy a handset then go to Real or Tesco and buy a PLAY sim card?

Life / Vandalism on cars in Poland [64]

In Germany, Poland has a very bad reputation regarding vandalism/damage on cars.

For example in Poland, United Kingdom has a very bad reputation regarding vandalism/damage/setting fire on cars. So you can see that it may be only a prejudice.

I have two cars one old and one contemporary and I have never experienced any act of vandalism. Of course before the year 2004 they tried steal a whole car several times but these guys were thieves not vandals.

Mostly scratching or nails/flat tyres is war for parking places or correct parking habbit. Mercedes star is well known problem so don't buy metal but plastic imitation.

I have bought a car, thats an old Mercedes w202 1996.

Playstation generation has no respect for classic cars so buy a newer car (they may think he is rich don't mess with him ;) or leave it on guarded parking.

Life / How do Polish people in Poland respond to Polish people abroad....? [17]

for example, that they might say you're not Polish - yes, they might say this
you know nothing about our history - nonsense, you may be a history teacher
you're not part of this country - yes
you weren't here when we fought for our freedom from communism - yes
you're different from us - sure you are after 20 years in (for example) USA you must be different
and that Polish citizens living abroad would be treated as "lower class"?? - nonsense, rather like freak in the zoo who (for example) obey a speed limits

Work / Polish salaries - New statistics [38]

A read an article that Poles spend a lot of time at work but waste it on useless things.

In many workplaces we have to "steal" worktime because employer cannot deliver it in sufficient amount. We want earn more and finally leave for abroad.

there is a demand for your work and your customer, usually a big company can buy your work but poor retired babcia can not pay more for doctor's work.
