Real Estate / Poland's apartment prices continue to fall [1844]

An average is a misleading number in real estate.

You can't take the stupid out of Real Estate, can you?

If average is misleading, then every price the average is made up of is 'misleading'. The average is neither right, nor wrong its the average of the two.

It's amazing that there have been none of the 20-30% falls in price that seem to be proclaimed by the media.

Those are nominal prices. Add on 20% to the 2006 price, for instance, for inflation

bankofengland.co.uk/education/Pages/inflation/calculator/flash/default.aspx

In Battersea, on my street, prices are at 2006 level but that ignores the 20% rise in inflation

History / Was PRL Poland? [37]

No Delph, not hundreds of thousands: millions of Poles were either Party members or benefited from being associated with a Party member.

Irrelevant as they didn't have free of choice. When they had real freedom they voted a few percent for the communists.

UK, Ireland / Poles 'failing to integrate in the UK'? [58]

The one thing that springs to mind is firstly the beer may be cheap and it could also be a good place to network.

I lived in the UK for over 40 years and never set foot in a Polish club. Why would I want to hang about with 80 year olds?

Besides, going to Polish clubs means you do NOT integrate as they speak Polish there.

Life / What's the deal with Polish Piracy? [27]

Crack on, the internet wasnt designed as a money making cartel for Americans.

Its was designed to survive a nuclear war against the communists... so effectively... it was.

News / Poland's Economy Is Booming! The EU's Success Story? [711]

Those call centers sent abroad to cheap labor countries are a disgrace. They move to India for English and North Africa for French.

There are many jobs that are not in call centers, what are the minority of offshore business. Companies like IBM, Google, Cisco, Wipro, Credit Suisse do not have any call centre requirements at all. Its back off/development work - you don't move that at the drop of a hat.

I would say it's hard to buy them at any rate

Yes. The Argentinians are banned from buying any foreign currency. If he is Argentinian he has a valid reason to want convert peso's into hard currency. What the mad Argentinian dictator Kirchner is doing to her people is criminal.

News / Work begins on 'Polish Disneyland' [37]

But how many of those went bust and left their passengers stranded? XL and who else?

I seem to remember there was another airline who failed at the same time as XL. However, any company that failed wold have stranded passengers, you just would not have heard about it. I'm not about to trawl through ten years of airline news, but airline failures are normal practice world wide.

a 4 star at least? I dont want to stay in a really crappy hotel

Do you really need to stay in a 4 star hotel? You don't get much more than an increase of boredom. A one or two stars will be clean and have everything you need and you won't have to stay in big cities, there is much more choice.

I find 4/5 star hotels impersonal and bland, they all feel the same, you could be anywhere.

Life / Is Poland a poor country? [578]

But, could anyone break down cost of living in Poland by the same catagories as I wrote for the USA?

I don't know, but those numbers are way way more than Poland. Unlimited Internet access is about $25 here for instance. Gas $500?? I can't imagine Poles would spend 10% of that..

Life / Is Poland a poor country? [578]

But, at the same time, I had an economics teacher once point out that no matter what earnings are in any country, the cost of living in that country will balance out to coming out to about that level.

Then Polish Minimum wage would be one definition of poverty level. 1500pln/month.

There is more information here:

The number of poor in Poland has fallen by eight million since the country joined the European Union, new figures reveal.

Life / Is Poland a poor country? [578]

Define what your own definition of poverty is, please.

The income level against the COST of living in that country is the usual definition.

Another is the income level against the average income within a country (which is obviously stupid as by definition there must be someone above and below average).

The same for Olt Express can you imagine Easyjet going bust? What percentage of UK airlines have gone bust in the last 10 years?

You really are ignorant
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_defunct_airlines_of_the_United_Kingdom

There a about 50 airlines that have vanished in the UK since 2000

Real Estate / Poland's apartment prices continue to fall [1844]

REAS survey is updated.
media.reas.pl/file/mediakit/424815/74/reas-residential-market-in-poland-q2-2012.pdf

The results of the market monitoring study conducted by REAS at the end of June 2012 confirm that the new Developer Act brought a record-high number of apartments released to the market. Although the number of transactions remains considerable, the volume of unsold units increased. REAS analysts expect that the following quarters will see a slowdown in new projects.

Mr. Kazimierz Kirejczyk, President of REAS, comments on the results: "The major factor impacting the actions of development market participants in Q2 2012 was the late-April introduction of a new act on protection of the residential buyers' rights.

They cannot be applied in the US. Obama signed a law into place in 2010 which prevents the enforcement of foreign libel cases in the US if they're incompatible with the legendary First Amendment. In this case, the Admin can sit safely.

He's Polish, so if he has any EU assets or visits Europe they can be at risk. Its not just him, however, its anyone who posts rumors who is EU based.

US 'freedom of speech' laws only applies to US citizens, if the EU can get you the US will comply with the treaties.

Looking like its true, therefore not a problem.

History / The Untold Battle of Britain [205]

So basically 'what some bloke on the internet said'.

John Farley, OBE AFC CEng is not 'some Bloke on the Internet'. He was the chief test pilot for the Harrier
harrier.org.uk/history/history_farley.htm

aviewfromthehover.com/johnfarley.php
youtube.com/watch?v=tfbHMxnlbfI

He is 79 years old and a respected member of PPrune, a forum where bullshitters like yourself are quickly weeded out. if you actually read the whole thread you will see the detailed discussion of the loses, including newspaper reports, accident reports and person remembrances.

This project is continuing to expand, however if you have any corrections or comments

Its a incomplete list for gods sake. I also posted US statistics which are similarly horrific.

I think Chris R's description of you is pretty apt. You will go to any lengths to prove you are right, its like some silly game. You don't know everything, so stop trying to prove you do.

History / The Untold Battle of Britain [205]

In the USA -

This is in stark contrast to the landmark year of 1954,when
naval aviation (that is, Navy and Marine combined)lost 776 aircraft and 535
crew
, for an accident rate well above fifty per hundred thousand flight hours-
and the rate for carrier-based tactical aviation was much higher than that.

The first commanding officer of 303 Squadron says otherwise.

So what, nothing spectacular there. Do you know the sort of death rate the RAF had in peacetime training pilots in the 1950's? Hundreds per year.

I give sourced facts; you just present your opinions (which are very often anti-semitic ones).

Playing the race card again. Stick that where the sun doesn't shine. I despise you, I'm not anti-Semitic because of that. I find it offensive that you distort facts to push your agenda, that doesn't make me anti-Semitic. I simply hate lying, economical-with-the-truth, bullshitters such as yourself.

You don't source facts, you make off the cuff claims. Other posters have posted sources showing the Jewish collaboration with the communists and you now claim that there is no proof.

Lying Harry.

Love / Best way to find a Polish husband...ideas? [120]

It's not the lack of men, it's PTA's "tick list" that excludes most of them as being suitable. Patrycja19 has written an excellent post and given her some excellent advice.

Agreed. Women doing this are making excuses not to be with someone. Waiting for Mr Perfect will guarantee you stay single for ever

Mrs Dead perfect

Quite frankly randomly picking any guy will give you just as good a chance of success. Which is why the Asian's Astrology technique is successful..
