History / Zygmunt Gorgolewski- the architect of the Opera House in Lwów [47]

Considering that the Ukainians continue to complain that in the Second Polish Republic, the Poles closed Ukrainian speaking gymnasiums and abolished teaching Ukrainian literature at the University of Lwów

What these two things have in common ? Nothing in my opinion.

Real Estate / Poland's apartment prices continue to fall [1844]

Info from a Polish acquaintance in Wroc last week: "We had over 300 applications for a job in our accounts dept."

Nothing new in most of the country, just start reaching the major agglomerations.

So patriotic, aren't you?

So you think it's "patriotic" to deny the obvious problems ?

and Poland continues to do so.

"Growth" is barely positive at the moment and there's no sign that it's going to change. I'm not going to waste x hours on pointless "discussions" with your propaganda, just cite 3 serious economists saying that Polish economy is in good situation or shut up.

but for me it's just related to catching up.

Actually in recent years it hasn't been even "catching up" and it's not going to change.

Genealogy / 25th / 26th Pomeranian Battalion (Infantry) Scotland WWII [5]

All of these units were a part of 4th Infantry division, basically a training unit, which served as a source of manpower for front line units.

-25th Pomeranian Battalion of Infantry
-26th Pomeranian Battalion of Infantry

Both weren't created until early 1945 and were mostly made of people, who previously had been drafted into Wehrmacht or were liberated from POW/concentration camps or were ex-forced labourers, generally Poles who were "recovered" as allied forces were advancing through France and Italy.

You should find it at google street view, it starts at Plac Powstańców (NBP building), crosses with Jasna and ends close to Marszałkowska (not having connection with it) the whole street seems to be ~250m long.

Did it originate for sure in Poland?

Not sure but it's quite popular in Poland with +36k users, I doubt it's of foreign origin.

Study / How hard is it to get accepted to Wroclaw University of Technology? / Unis in general? [37]

The point remains that they do not produce high quality graduates in any way - as I repeatedly say, the course is treated as a joke by the university (although not to the students faces for obvious reasons)

And yet you provide no facts what so ever to support these claims, pretty much another filthy crap on your side.

Life / Drink driving a bike and losing your driving license in Poland [27]

But losing your driving license for that?

Very good decision in my opinion, yesterday he was drink driving a bike, tomorrow he may drink driving a car and kill somebody. Bedsides drunks on bikes are causing quite a few accidents.

Study / How hard is it to get accepted to Wroclaw University of Technology? / Unis in general? [37]

By Polish standards, WUT is near the top. By world standards, though, it's third rate. SGH and UW are among the few schools in Poland to be second-rate on a world scale

I really wonder what do you mean by that. These days for employers It doesn't really matter that much what school one did graduate from, It's all about real skills, perhaps top 30-40 univs in the world make some impression, If one did graduate from univ no.108 or 315 is irrelevant really. Or do you mean the rankings actually express the quality of teaching ?

History / Poland's Roads in the 17th Century [19]

It's worth pointing out that the roads in the eastern part of Poland in the II RP were still very bad - I found a map somewhere that clearly shows that many of these roads were little better than dirt tracks!

II RP ? I remember many of them in 90's and not really in the east, I'm sure quite a few are still around.

Life / Have you wonder how to recognise a Polish person on the street? [21]

oh please

Woman, are you living in some fantasy world ? Were in the world construction workers don't over use f. word ? "most of Polish people who arrived to London didn't have any education" Right. Anyone with some idea how it really looked like knows that a very large part of these people were recent graduates, who due to oversupply of people with tertiary education would have been forced to work much below their qualifications in Poland, so when forced to do shyt job, they opted for doing it for several times more money. The whole "article" is a pathetic crap, Polish lower class is just like anywhere in the world, not very sophisticated, what's so strange in that ? If anything, one could write something similar about English, guys like "hey I'm a financial analyst" and later in the evening you see the same guy so drunk that he ****** his own pants, non-lower class Poles rarely do such things but I guess "expats" with inferiority complex need to boost their funny ego with such garbage.

Life / Have you wonder how to recognise a Polish person on the street? [21]

As I mentioned before, most (not all, but most) of Polish people who arrived, especially to London, didn't speak English and didn't have any education. They came from small cities or villages. Very often such people didn't have good behaviour. They only wanted to drink and smoke with minimum work and maximum fun.

A guy, who wrote that must be retarded.

Travel / Hunting in Malapolska (Krakow area) [5]

rent of land etc

It's not that you can rent some land and start shooting to animals, If you do that, you are facing up to 5 years for killing wild animals and a few extra If weapon was illegally possessed.

Generally Polish Hunting Union (Polski Związek £owiecki) is in charge of hunting in Poland, each year Ministry of Environment is setting detailed limits how many animals should be shot, when (i.e. outside of the breeding season etc.) and so on. PZ£ is distributing the limits to their regional and local chapters, to hunt legally one must be a member of PZ£, which requires among other things, having Polish citizenship, however sometimes PZ£ chapters, when have some surplus limits, organize "commercial hunting" for foreigners charging money for that. You need to contact regional PZ£ HQ and ask them: pzl.krakow.pl/horizontal/kontakt.html

Language / "I go to the university by train" in Polish? [13]

Ja jeżdżę do uniwersytetu/na uniwersytet pociągiem?

Out of these 2 it should be na uniwersytet.

Ja is not necessary. Personally I would make it "Dojeżdżam pociągiem na uniwersytet (or na uczelnie)".

Law / Small earnings registration in Poland [15]

Personally I'm not an accountant, they better ask their accountant to explain details... but you seem to be still confusing being self-employed (running 1 person company) with other forms in regard to ZUS, when one is not a company owner, there is no fixed ZUS payment... It's then x % of the earnings...
