Life / Who is poor in Poland? [720]

we’ve won!

You have won Havok, it should be the sole duty for every Polish person to live your life, so they can waste the rest of it projecting their insecurities by pushing Poland down.

God you must be a bore to meet, I can actually hear you go on and on and on about Poland in real life, as if you had one.

Travel / Poland in photo riddles [3134]

I need to know the make/origin of this car:

I'd say it's a Peugeot 5008, behind the old wreck of course ;)

Ah now, let's use Pawian logik:

This is a Polish forum, Pawian is reported to be in Poland, has confessed to being Polish and takes lots of photos of Polish things, so I would say the car comes from Jamaica... I mean Poland.

I think it's a new car, someone made up a new fibreglass body with a pretty sweet low lying body.

Poland is in a bad way

Is that a comparative assessment, where is not in a bad way?

When I first came to Poland it was noticeable poorer and that was only 10 years ago.

Were you on the tiger's tail for the last decade and a half and compare it to that?

News / On German Fields, Romanians replace Poles [9]

Not really...there is a labor shortage which is bound to get worse....

It doesn't state the cause, is that because of the ageing population or something?

Well there is a shortage of well paying jobs here in Poland, so it could work out for the neighbours, I hope.

Edit*

German unemployment figures for 2011 at 7.40 %.

Are they unqualified or am I missing something? I could be just tired and not following properly, hmmm more than likely.

Life / Struggling young Polish couple - try to solve their problem [176]

i hear about those kind of problems among young Poles all the time, and I can't understand why it's that bad, what they do wrong and how to turn the things around...

I think the main thing is that it is socially expectable to live with your parents and grandparents here.
For a young educated couple living in Krakow, there are many options, as have been provided.
I think it's the comfort zone that they are afraid of leaving, they have no excuse if they are both working but will complain anyway.

I recently let out a place, on behalf of a friend, to a young couple in Krakow. They were in exactly this position and told me the truth (but at least jokingly) that they had to get away from their parents.

800 PLN per month (including bills 1050).

But why pay your own way when you can live with Mummy and Daddy?

other companies, with higher salaries, want people with more experience than they have.

So when they have more experience, they can get pay rises and then move on.

They can get another job, rent or work abroad as suggested.

As for getting a mortgage, I think it's a terrible idea for now, their jobs do not pay enough, the banks don't think they can repay the loans, so time to realise you should not buy if you can't afford it.

All this having been said, this being an internet forum and a hypothetical (right?), I will do a calculation:

Monthly salary - together 3,000 zlotych.

That is low, is it gross or net?
(I will assume net because of the amount) so 4500 Brutto.

They can get a loan of 300 451,61 plus their 20% down payment, that's 360 451,61. (Open finance calculator)
open.pl/calc/kalkulator-kwoty-kredytu.html

You can buy a reasonably sized house out of the city for that, or a highish end apartment in the centre.
This loan is over 36 years but is not meant like that, it is only meant to get their foot in the door of the property ladder.

No doubt people think they can just move into the Wawel castle as soon as they are finished Uni, that's just not going to happen.

Feedback / Suggestion: Skill test to eliminate moronic posters [7]

If the banks have plunged the world in to a recession and get bailed out using tax payer's money, who should we blame?

1. The bankers, corrupt politicians and some unscrupulousness developers.
2. Immigrants.
3. The tooth fairy.

If you are reading this far and can't decide here's a clue:

They are mentioned in the question.

You do realise that they were destroyed during WW2 and rebuilt with Soviet cash?

I don't know about Poznan but Krakow's market square was not rebuilt after WW2.

All I mentioned was that Poland had better housing & cities than most nations as poor.

You could take that a whole lot further, Poland compared to most countries in the world is much much wealthier in almost every aspect.

* I only use the word "almost" for every aspect because of the wealth of happiness :)

I would love to meet these people, and ask HOW?

Milky, it sounds to me like you're a young fella that grew up with the Celtic tiger and until recently never knew a bad day in your life.

Ask the older generation in Ireland what was it like before the madness in Ireland, I can tell you that people in Ireland were a lot poorer than people here (even at that time) and they survived, it's not easy, it,s not pretty but that is just life sometimes.

Law / Business ideas when I'll get back to Poland [8]

am searching for good business idea

John Paul II land, like Disney land except biblical.

You'll need more than 30,000 though, so get in contact with Radio Maria but don't let them rob this multimillion dinar idea from you.

Language / What's a Polish equivalent of hardware store? [9]

Leroy Merlin.

I had to google it but is a hardware store mostly for Iron goods and a smallish local kind of shop rather than a big warehouse with building supplies? that's what the dictionary said.

Food / Okocim double-hopped? [6]

Okocim

Żywiec, Tyskie and Okocim are the three main beers that you can buy here in Poland and they all taste more or less the same.

Off-Topic / How do Polish people operate? what makes them tick? [103]

The mechanics is simple, find out the other person's weakness, point it out, and make yourself feel better and you win!

Having done exactly that, do you see yourself in the pattern you have just described?

Havok this is a forum not a psychologist's couch, you display an awful lot of the flaws you project on to others, maybe you should give it some thought?

Is that entirely true or is it legend?

It's entirely a true legend.

Truth is, I don't know and from what I have read, nobody knows about the older ones like Wanda.

Life / IS Poland in danger of becoming the next multi cultural sink hole? [201]

Why Europe should open the door to immigration if theses country's do not have immigrants from Europe?

Using your own argument. Why should America open up to Europe? what right does Grubas have to be there?

Poland in the US VISA Waiver Program.

In South Africa white farmers are being brutally murdered and government do nothing, do you remember Zimbabwe and their no white policy incited by their government?

Yes, I was there, I also remember Rhodesia.

I am not on social welfare

So now you have lost your argument and resort to lying, you admitted before you were on social welfare in America and how it was better than ''work like a dog in PL''.

Well, he is not, he is talking about India, Pakistan or Africa.

Yeah, as I said double standards.

It's going to be very tedious talking to you if you are just going to clearly show my points while arguing with me.
