Love / Best way to find a Polish husband...ideas? [120]

I know for a fact that internet dating doesn't work.

I have 3 friends that found their mates on internet and are happily married now.

I think your problem is that you expect the worst of people, and often, that is self fulfilling.
Sometimes you have to take a chance.
Most men are not "mature, responsible, ready to settle down adults" until they meet a right woman and fall in love.
You're not going to find a perfect man, often we have to polish one ourselves. No pun intended.

Life / Noisy kids every night. Police in Warsaw don't care.. [22]

when I lived in apartments, I've learned to live with background music.. not too loud, but loud enough that the outside noises didn't startle me.

Now, even though I don't need to, there is still low music streaming

Love / Best way to find a Polish husband...ideas? [120]

I'm thinking if I ever am to find the right person, I will have to move somewhere after I get my degree. It will be difficult living where I have no connections or family but it's do or die.

I never had problems finding them because I picked a profession where women are a minority. But I see my poor guys, looking for a place they can go to grab something to eat, asking their coworkers if they want to go... because they don't want to go home yet, even if their mama is cooking.. Go to a concert of the kind of music you like. Museum. Art gallery. But go alone. If a guy's trying to pick you up that you don't like, tell him you're waiting for someone. But talking to people is good. Everytime you meet someone new, you expand your circle of friends.

Church is where a lot of single men hang out.

that is weird. I'm not sure one of those would turn me on. They all believe in creationism?

Re: club, I'm not talking about clubs. They go straight home after work? What about well to do guys that don't want to cook? Or want to hang out with their co-workers after work? You don't have those?

All the single engineers around here stop by somewhere on the way home from work for something to eat and maybe a beer. At least once a week, most of the time on Friday. What do they do in Poland? Go to church??

he just has to know that I am not going to give him what he wants until he gives something to me

..and therein lies the rub..

I don't think its realistic to assume that the man I find is going to be irresistibly attractive.

Ahh, but it is all in the eye of the beholder. On one hand, you don't want an uber attractive guy, but you also imply that only those turn you on.

Keep looking until you find something else in a man that is sexy, besides his looks. Take your time. It looks like you're ready to make some bad compromises.

If you marry a man that you are not attracted to, you're making a bed both of you are going to have to sleep in. Pun intended.

Most of the time, men who are looking for casual sex are not that interested in a relationship,

Oh, Polka, practically all men, even the "good ones" are looking for sex.
They all hope for a relationship that will be a steady and comfortable (but exciting) source of it.
If they tell you they are not interested in a relationship, then you are not the one.
Sooo...
Probably the easiest way to get a man is with sex. But you have to mean it, feel it, and want it. Otherwise you are just trading it and .. you know what that is called.

Best way to find a husband is not too look for one.
As far as casual sex, you have to be a mind reader.
There is a point at which every guy, even the "responsible/moral, classy, tall" kind, is going to try and figure out how much of a bargaining chip sex with you is going to be.

Most of us hope that if we find the right one, sex is impossible to resist.

Law / Worked for a restaurant in Poland and the owner refused to pay me. [60]

He's got a right to what's in the contract.

ok, I guess we don't know what is he fighting for, the legit money covered in the contract, or the extras. If it is for the legit moeny, does he need to hire a lawyer? Again, in US, labor department takes the side of the employee, so if you only want to recover money due to you, you don't need to hire your own lawyer.

How about we proceed with two assumptions: (1) he did not have a work permit - even then employer has no right to use labor without compensation, right? and (2) he does have a right to work, in which case, anyone ever been in a similar situation? how hard is to get his pay?

All it takes here in the US is one phone call to the local office of US department of labor and within days (!) the crooked employer comes running with the money offerings in his shaking hands. I've done it for my boyfriend couple of years ago and was astounded at the speed of the response and fear instilled in the crooked boss.

I hope what Warszawette is saying is not true.

News / What really happened at the Krakow restaurant? [53]

Well, it might have been..
When I was working in a restaurant in a half Italian, half Jewish town, and a large party of Italians came in at closing time, I sure was staying. Often made week's wages off them.

But, if they were Jewish, I had urgent personal business at home.
When it comes to money, you've got to go with the odds. ;)

It's probably a combination of many things - close to closing time, size of the party, plus waiters usually have a pretty good judgement about whether there is money to be made... what do you think would happen if the guests were not Jewish - they would have been served? Or, they would leave when they were told they were to late?

A free tip: in US, when you're in this situation, ask if you can have a word with the chef (because you've heard good things about him, etc). If he says the kitchen is closed, you're done. Sometimes, the chef will tell you what he can still make. I don't know who the real boss is in Polish restaurants, but in US, it's the chef.

Love / ARE POLISH GIRLS GOLD-DIGGERS? [359]

The wife then should make her own money

If that is their partnership, then, sure. She could be the breadwinner, too. The one advantage of marriage is combining resources, with money being just one of currencies used. If one thinks they're going to be "cheated", one should not get married at all.

telling him he doesn't make nough money is being kind?

Yes. Guys can deal with this better because in can be changed/fixed, as opposed to the flaws they can do nothing about, such as lack of character, sense of humor, good looks or sexual interest.

Plus, they can blame the woman for being a gold digger and their ego survives relatively unscathed. Win/win!

Love / ARE POLISH GIRLS GOLD-DIGGERS? [359]

Are Polish women the biggest moneygrabbers in Europe?
In some instances, it's a kindness to a guy, especially his ego, when a woman tells him she dumped him because he does not have enough money.

Love / ARE POLISH GIRLS GOLD-DIGGERS? [359]

I suppose one reason is because east European women don't tend to have careers as opposed to progressive western society where women are starting to get more educated than men.

When did that flip around?
