Genealogy / searching for ancestors Wenerowicz [20]

you might want to try ancestry.com or Ellis Island and get more information on what town they landed in first in America..
ancestry is a pay for site, but well worth the money because they have a good abundance of records online and you can find alot of information on these members of your family..

good luck.

Fantastic.. lets stamp out all sense of humor on here. Funny, for a place that roasts the Nazis daily.

yep sense of humor and sexual comments dont have any place together

you think its ok to let kids see this?

Like I told southern, MY daughter walked up to the computer screen and
was looking at it.. I had to cover it up..

thats pathetic when sense of humor and sexual derogatory comments can
be put in same context..

I cant keep it from them when they are older, But I would think you and
others wouldnt want your children looking at crap like this ,and isnt this
why we monitor it?

this is a polish forum , NOT BENNY HILL!!

I used to watch him too, but yep he was late night and not when kids
were up and there is a place and time for it.. or do you disagree??

Life / What is the reason for POLISH jokes ? [486]

It's kind of like the goofy kid in the playground who's got "sticks and stones..." loaded and ready if you see what I mean.

lol stop all the kids who are saying I am going to beat you up and say, no dont
do that, I will do it to myself.. lol

I've been the subject of loads of jokes over the years... being female, Scottish and <pulls a look of disgust> GINGER, but my best advice is to just laugh along with it.

The jokes and banter are all part of colleagues and mates feeling comfortable with you :)

I agree, now that Im older, it doesn't really phase me like when I was growing up.
and of course , I wasnt witty enough as a teen, but after I was out of school
and hanging with my friends, someone bring up the term pollack and point to me
I would say, well, least I dont have a foreign object growing off my lip , oh
yeah thats your mustache :)

its all good, ive burned quite a few people.

Genealogy / POLISH NOBILITY NAMES IN -SKIi [82]

The szlachta (nobility) inherited both status and land. They were, however, obligated to perform military service for the king, and to submit to his tribunals (his court of moral principles or laws), but they were the independant magistrates over their own lands

angelfire.com/mi4/polcrt/PolNobility.html

much easier to just post a link to it..

as for the above -- my great grandfather and his father all served in the military
and owned abundance of lands in Poland .. but because Russia was in control
their noble status was more then likely taken away.

Genealogy / Looking for anyone who is familiar with adoption in Poland [8]

ok folks important question..... :)

can someone direct me to the nearest adoption agency in Poland near or in Lomza?

If I could find it in Polish I would, but I need to find it in english version :)

just for FYI

I was contacted by a possible cousin via my genealogy and of course I dont
have the info she needs about her parents ( she knows their names).

she is 23, so she can contact them now without worry of paperwork getting
in the way from her adoption right?

Help?

History / "Poland's Concentration Camp" ?? [570]

Jeez, Patrycja, do you try to at least understand who's saying what, or do you just respond with the same mantra to everyone

you are right. I apologize for jumping to fast.. and I do agree with you on that
is was a serious blemish. but that is about it,, and prob comparable to various
other countries who had /built such places to hold political prisoners.

History / "Poland's Concentration Camp" ?? [570]

Bereza was more like a more brutal version of Guantanamo, where you got kidnapped to if you stepped on the wrong toes and where torture and humiliation was the order of the day.

and look at the amount of deaths compared to * real * concentration/death camps.. did the guards at this facility take all the political prisoners and gun

them down? gas them?

again I say , no comparison.. Poland as any other country is not perfect by
any means .. but this type of behavior was going on in all regions.. and I am
sure if you google it, you find much worse going on in other countries that
would make people vomit at the thought.

example
select.nytimes.com/gst/abstract.html?res=F30A17F83F5F11738DDDAC0994DC405B818FF1D3

does it make it right that they were tortured? no.. does this happen today
of course it does.. but comparing it to the genocide nazi's intended to perform
on all who were opposing them.. including their own .. I dont even know
why anyone would compare..

History / "Poland's Concentration Camp" ?? [570]

If it was a prison, why isn't the official name "Bereza prison"? Why is it officially "Bereza seculsion camp"?

seclusion camp.. lol um no, but it held political prisoners.. regarless what
you think, prior to the war and after the war. there still lurked idiots who
could and would do harm to the everyday Normal people.

and what happened in them. well prob same as now. again you cant
compare them to this one Prison.. I am sure it was taken over during war
though and made into the ( concentration camp) as everything was when
the Nazis took over Poland.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bereza_Kartuska_Detention_Camp

ahh well never mind,, you wont get it anyway.

History / "Poland's Concentration Camp" ?? [570]

The point is that it wasn't a death camp.

nope it wasnt.. it was a prison.. every country has these to sort out criminals
who sabatoge safety.. no comparison to concentration camps which hold a
huge number of people and were meant for slav labor and or to be put to death.

The nazi's knew what they were doing when they built them.

repulsive polonophobe filled with hatred to anything Polish.

I agree.. I think hes searching for things to troll around in here.

He is producing gas in Auschwitz?

harry must be the one responsible for global warming , not the cows !

It's not just "some of your countrymen". Ask anybody in UK, US, EU or pretty much anywahere in the world what the word "concentration camp" stands for.

yep, and I really cant find anything that even supports his statements.. probably
that is why he hasnt provided links. Nazi's created them.. and pre- war,
gypsies were held in them in 1933.. that was Nazi's doing the dirty work.

I seperate the two ( germans vs Nazi's ) because like all govts we dont all
agree with how they are run, so if someone was against the Nazi's ( which there
were) I wouldnt classify them in same catagory.. Nazi's were killing machines
and dont deserve to be called human.. Germans do.. those who did oppose.

germany

archives.econ.utah.edu/archives/a-list/2003w22/msg00036.htm

same thing- germany again.. leaking into the baltic.. hmmmmmm

american.edu/TED/baltic.htm

again, they have formed a commision to clean it up, its a vacation spot
so why wouldnt they? part of Polands tourism, I should think they above all
would be involved and they are as stated.. so trying to make them out to be
bad, and being such a negative nancy only shows some true colors of people..

if you provide a link to bad, try to find the good.. its better that way at least
people can debate constructive and talk about positives and negatives
and what each must do to make this world a better place ehhh??

;)

ps I can find more links for all surrounding regions , but I think everyone is
capable of that too.. I didnt call anyone a polonphobe either,, I said you are
balming only poland and I can see it, but theres more then one country bordering
and you fail to see it.. thats all.

if there was no links to provide, my proof would be nothing, but there is..
what is real is that ALL parties should be involved in the clean up and all
should realize this.

News / Poland's pollution of the Baltic Sea [46]

Of course I am being realistic and realise thats its not all Poland's fault. But why dont you be equally realistic and accept that Poland is to blame for the pollution of the Baltic as much as anyone else.

yes of course and so your in a polish forum trying to blame the whole on Poland
I see it..

I did provide more links for your reading enjoyment.. :)

News / Poland's pollution of the Baltic Sea [46]

Does Poland not care about its natural environment and those of its neighbours?

well sorry but if you read the whole site it shows poland as well as others who
contribute,, germany being one, of course it did something, I am sure polands
going to if not already done something, it described dates from early 70's and 80's
so I am sure by now the envionment is much better.. but I think all surrounding
regions should all pitch in/work together to make it more cleaner , I think I seen
where finland was putting out some very toxic waste into the baltic..

you would like to think its all Polands fault, but of course being realistic, we should
read further into it,, theres more then one country /region bordering the baltic.

findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_kmafp/is_200711/ai_n21109192

as above mentioned, poland is doing something about it along with other
bordering regions and this is more current..

oh heres more info on this as well

History / "Poland's Concentration Camp" ?? [570]

As far as I'm aware, Neverland has never issued passports but I'll defer to your expert knowledge as you are the person who appears to have spent a lot of time in the place.

No I identify myself with my country and also with my nationality, and I am not
ashamed of who I am .. it wasnt me who asked or said this

Harry:
I fail to understand why people think that the place they were born, or where their parents were born, in any way identifies them or gives them any identity[/quote]

you are the one who fails to understand...so it is you with the problem..
People in here are Polish, or are with someone Polish, or they like and want to
get to know more about Poland..

What brings you to Polish forums??? are you Polish??

I fail to understand why people think that the place they were born, or where their parents were born, in any way identifies them or gives them any identity.

so basically you are running from?? with 7 different passports and no identity
to tell authoritys who you are what country you belong, then its safe to assume
you come from a terrorists country and you stole those passports and you no
longer have a family or home... with a attitude like that. someone could just
lock you up and throw away the key and none would be the wiser.. because
you are really a nobody.. with no identity!! gosh I really dont know what we
are thinking with so many gazillion people in this world who really dont need to
Identify themselfs... pa-leassssssssssssssssss..

theres a dozen reasons to have identifiers.. people die, people are born, what
do you have on your birth cert?? I was born in Neverland?? haha.

Food / Why carp for Polish Christmas? [157]

You might consider the possiblity that it may actually taste decent. I don't think it's the worst fish to pick.

I think they mean carp taste bad because it is a bottom dweller fish and
me personally I cant stand fish and get grossed out when people eat it
cause fish is... ok cant say anymore cause I am getting grossed out talking
about it.

blec..
