If someone wants to live among his people and speak a different language it's their choice. And yes America has no official language this isn't England so it can't be. Assimilation should ONLY be a choice. You can't force anyone to do anything. Everyone should maintain a large ethnic community but don't take over someone elses build your own this country is huge there's plenty of space for everyone. No one said Mexicans have to learn English, nationalistic white Americans say that not Poles. There are whole sections of Southern California where English is hardly ever spoken I have no problem with that, that's their spot. People who don't want other nationalities to maintain their communities and keep speaking their language are intimidated by it and feel threatened.

I agree there's nothing wrong with having a large ethnic community, that's how you keep your identity.


Detroit is a sad example. Went to the old Polish neighborhood it's gone run down and an Arab neighborhood now. Camden up until the 60s or 70s had a large Polish community. A 30 yr old friend of mine who's Polish American told me that when she was a kid 5-10 it was still a great place to live look at in now.

We have a friend of the family who's been living in Chicago for 45 years and still speaks almost no English. There are so many Poles in and around Chicago that he really doesn't need to.

I remember listening to music it was mostly rhyming of this pre war Warsaw artist. He was singing in the local dialect which I believe went extinct after the war with Warsaw's population dead or misplaced.

There's your answer Nathan. Kids are shallow and look at looks alone most of the time. Here in Philly we have Russian bars and clubs where Russians, Ukrainians, Poles hang out together I've heard at least a couple times from Polish girls when they said they're Polish a guy he answered with amazement 'Ahh Polachka' so they must have found them to their liking.

Nathan me and most Polish men will wholeheartedly agree that German girls are nothing to look at. If he said what was already on his mind it was in defiance to the prejudice policies of the German state.

Well these are new immigrants of only a couple years. There were quite a few Poles after being in the States 20-30 yrs who decided to go back and open up a business in Poland.

That was in a city, Stalowa Wola
In rural areas the police is from the gmina and often from the same or neighboring village knowing everyone around. No officer/friend is gonna charge a friend with domestic violence. That's why at least here a cop can't work in the district he lives in.

And the weak laws don't help. During communist times if a man hit his wife the cops would have beaten him and left him bleeding by his doorstep. My aunt told me how her neighbor was beating his wife while being drunk cops came and were afraid to go in the house to help her out.
