Food / WHY IN POLAND PEOPLE DON'T USE ICE? [142]

"Cold water absorbs more quickly into the body than warmer water, making chilled water preferable for hydration."

it also shocks the body which is not really what you want..

Food / WHY IN POLAND PEOPLE DON'T USE ICE? [142]

VERY rarely does it occur, and when it does, everyone at the table after receiving the bill has the same response:

"Are you F#cking kidding me? They charged us for refills!"

you KNOW i'm spot on with this, plk123.

mcdees, taco hell et all do not have free refills.. most restaurants do however.. most but definitely not all.

Pizza Hut,

no free refills there.. you buy sodas by the glass or by the pitcher there..

it doesn't taste like Coca-Cola, or Pepsi, or Mountain Dew because it was bottled in warsaw and made with some funky sugar alternative

actually these are made with real beet sugar instead of the crappy corn syrup.. the throwback pepsi and dew that are sold here right now are made with real sugar like they used to be made originally.. this sugar however is made from sugar cane

Some older Poles think ice cold is not good for you.

it's not.. tepid or room temp water is actually the best

and if you know anything about soda fountains, those are not refridgerated either,

but carbonation actually cools the soda.. no need for ice..

My friend has some kind of coolant device in his car and it's great.

lol

Life / Why are the Italians and Polski so much alike? [90]

very roman catholic too although i wouldn't say that polish families are as close as the italian ones are.. anyway, i feel there is probably more differences then similarities between the two nations.

News / What awaits Poland after EU surrender [14]

Should people be able to claim asylum simply because they are gay?

if they are persecuted, then of course.

I think asylum is ok for them.
but Obama's illegal aunt in the US, now that's a different story

you are right she should get deported

the court has already ruled on this in her favor.. so you ought to just drop it, eh?

What you are saying is it's better because it's more liberal?

i dunno about liberal but at least it's more progressive in so many ways..

The US has definitely changed in the last 20 years or so. For the worse.

Genealogy / Village named Woloszczyzna [6]

£ancut is in the very SE corner of PL so if it was a village then it may very well be in today's Ukraine. also see: ukraine.com/forums/genealogy/12738-bodnar-family-woloszczyna.html

News / Will Komorowski be Poland's worst ever president? [72]

Internally we're well and truly f*cked though since PO will let whats left of state owned strategic sectors get picked apart by foreigners.

And that's a cardinal son! The people of Poland did a lot to build up their country and it shouldn't be ripe for the pickings for hawkish foreigners to swoop. Fine, some inward investment is a good thing but trading off elements is not what the Polish people need.

how do you know for sure? besides the state still needs to trim up a bit, don't you think?

We can rebuild our country ourselvs, thank you very much.

but that wasn't happening until the EU sent cash PL's way..
