Life / How's the life of an LGBT person in Poland? [90]

But you could at least try.

No, I know it would be pointless for me to try, but i'm sure we would get along fine down the sports bar.

And so have the blind, mute, and deaf. So what?

You answered your own question , gays don't have a choice, just like the blind, mute and deaf who cannot chose to see, speak or hear.

Yes nature has its way, do you really want to hurt or demean someone because nature dealt the a blind, deaf, mute or gay card?

Think for one moment, could have been you or me.

Can somebody here at least try to show me where the f*** I am wrong on facts and logic?

Sorry Rich that's impossible, the thing is you already know that you are always right, think about it.

Gays have been in Poland for as long as Poland has been in existence, as far as I know Poland is the only country in europe never to have any laws against homos.

Law / Stopped by the Poland's Police for no reason while walking at night [94]

The stupid truth is that within 80 kilometres of the country boundary, we do.

I live in that land and yes there are all sorts of naughty things happening , people and drug smuggling, migrants trying to get in or out!, the border guards have a tough job so it helps if we carry our polish id, i know its simpler for me just a plastic card.

The border thing with Germany is taken seriously, we have anti terror drills and all sorts can be a bit of a laugh when the siren goes off and you are expected to go check your barn for god only knows what. lol, I have a pitchfork in the back porch for that very purpose, like being in dads army.

Life / What are your experiences of care for your loved ones in hospitals here? [75]

If you're just an 'ordinary' person you could die on the floor of your own home.

Sorry for your hubby, I had the same kidney stone episode in the UK, the agony was unbearable, the nurse said that's the closest and man will come to experiencing the pain of giving birth.

Yeah if you are one of I think they say 4 million poles that do not work or are not registered as unemployed you are basically stuffed.

They were down right nasty to start off with until they had proof of insurance , I had gone all quiet because of the attack, I was also very scruffy because I had just finished the day working outdoors , I felt I was being financially and socially evaluated before a decision to treat me was made.

There was talk about Poland moving to proper universal care like the UK but the government has shelved it for now (I think), I am considering paying into Zus as well as my existing provider so at least something comes up on the computer, Jesus the receptionist had gone off to xerox my passport and insurance documents, the doctor told me to sit and shut up until the receptionist returned and she could evaluate the documents AGAIN herself

if they sound the same the person is dominant in English and if they sound different they're dominant language is Polish...

Interesting because I am constantly feeling the need to prove to myself that my pronunciation of some words is correct, I often think I am wrong but I am often told by native poles I am correct, but when they say the same word it sounds different to me, any ideas are they just being polite

UK hospital system unless you quoted your postcode.

Yeah bad for rough sleeper but they could at least quote the code from the street hey were sleeping in well london at least.

And yes I probably would have waited four hours (like last time) in the uk before i was treated, by which time the rash had reached my throat and I couldn't breathe.

I got straight in at the polish hospital apart from the insurance debacle I was treated with four shots of antihistamine and a icu bed was organised in case of complications.

But Sh$it what makes me special cos I have cash to pay insurance, what about the poor sods who I give beer zloty and fags to that are out of the system. are there lives less worthy than mine , I think not.

[moved from]

older we get less tolerant,

I hear you Doug , and I can read between the lines, I'm not staying either, five year itch and all that, big world out there, I had an episode of anaphylactic shock. last nigh, they wouldn't treat me until my wife found the paperwork in the bottom of her handbag took ages to photocopy.

**** after treatment the doctor said I was lucky, because came so quickly for treatment (**** if I was polish born like 4 million which do not have healthcare I might be dead)

Stuff em did dad have to show hi dowot when he was hit by shrapnel at cassino , did the heros of the Warsaw uprising need to show paperwork before their wounds were tended to, **** poland needs to wake up and take care of its people whos parents and grandparents were probably heroes of the Polish struggle for freedom.

Shame on Poland that puts money before life, 500 plus at one end, pay or you die at the other....****

Sorry mod hot topic for me

Life / Any one in need of a bulldog? A dog's life in Poland [39]

nationalist

Nowt wrong about being proud of your nation especially in Poland,

"Poland has not died , what foreign violence took from us, we will take with a Saber."

Beware the szabla that lives in the heart of every Pole.

Anyway back to topic, The British have the bulldog (Buldog spirit) as their national pet, what about Poland is there such an animal that connects the people

I wondered about Dogs in Poland.

I second that.

Problem in Poland is they do not do much in the way of training, plus its expensive to pay for someone to do it

Chained dogs have never had any training, thus if they break their tether the can be a real nightmare, I have seen it first hand, worse when the free dogs band together.

But don't get me wrong the problem is not as big as it is in Romania, anyway I always carry a can of anti hund when I take visitors for a late night walk up the lane. 4km of barking snarling dogs as you go by in every alternate house. I aint kidding .

Anyway apart from some of these little challenges dolnoland is great.

dogs in a village had been chained like that for ever.

Ok fair enough, so were bears at one point, it's illegal to chain up dogs permanently in Poland

Listen to what the top man had to say about it,

" PiS chairman Jaroslaw Kaczynski, speaking about the fate of animals, emphasized that "barbaric things are happening in our country".

wprost.pl/kraj/10049259/Nowy-projekt-ustawy-Trzy-lata-wiezienia-za-trzymanie-psa-na-lancuchu.html

As for noisy animal in the countryside I have plenty of them on the farm, but not a dog that has to suffer this permanent torment.

. I expect a man to open the door for me etc.

Wow i'm not all washed up and alone after all ,hmm got a spring in my step now.

till I the next time I talk sh1t about western europeans self inflicted harm

That first amendment is great , no matter what my opinions are on your views I envy the fact you are able to speak your mind, you cant do it here for the fear of being banged up for not towing the politically correct l line.

Even in Poland you cant call a politician a moron or a gormless idiot without breaking the law.

id say you're so full of sh1t that your eyes are brown

I was just reading back on this thread and noticed the above, dirk what are you thinking to be so rude to a woman, I know its old fashioned but still very relative to being a Polish gentleman , we just don't do this, I know things have changed in Poland since my parents left but being chivalrous is an important trait for any Polish man, it kind of sets us apart from the regular thug males that seem to be prevalent nowadays.

I don't see eye to eye with Atch on some matters , and yes she can be a bit cutting with some of her replies which is just part of the banter here.

Just lighten up a bit, click your heels and give her hand a kiss.

Anyway its only my point of view and I am just an old git before my time who is way out of touch with modern ways.

Only his head? :)

Oh he also had a tail and was called ned.

I will look out for these characteristics next time I am in Gorlitz, to be honest I have found people there to be mostly brown skinned with dark hair and beards, or totally covered in a sheet from head to toe.

Maybe its time to find a new neighbourhood to live in?

no my neighbours are still very entertaining, something new and exciting or down right annoying happens every day.

I totally agree with you, go to a shelter if you want a dog, and yes dogs are abandoned all over the place, they even chain them to a tree in the middle of a forest, very nasty indeed.

The pure germanic heritage is immediately recognizable

Yep Germans are past masters when it comes to genetic research, I will take your word for it, My cousin looks like a horse, does that mean he is probably German?

No thanks way too many dogs in Poland already, barking all night mostly chained to lino covered boxes that are supposed to be doghouses even when the weather is minus 25c outdoors. lunatics walking with dangerous dogs that will kill anything smaller than them on sight, also need to carry pepper spray when out for a walk due to every other neighbour having a mad dog that barks at you and would try to kill you if it broke its lead of got through its fence.

Law / Money with ZUS - what happens to it when I leave Poland and come back home? [23]

ever miss certain aspects of the UK? You're always so critical

Ah well yes there are plenty of good aspects in the UK, and maybe when I reach proper retirement age I will return, I still have property and financial interests and family in the UK.

As for always critical , too right Atch, lets start with brexit, move to gun crime, knife crime acid attacks, paedophile rape gangs, acts of terrorism, judicial system that is too soft, lack of freedom to speak ones mind, millennial's, lefties.

But if I move deep into the English (Or Irish maybe i have been looking) countryside, then I wont have to deal with the above nonsense, Poland does not have these issues which more than makes up for as you say clumsy and unwieldy ways of Poland.
