Real Estate / Is it even possible to get a house with meldunek as a student in Poland? [21]

might be less than %50 or might be higher just a little bit but I know for fact its lowering day by day.

In Germany there is a good instrument of separating religious from not religious people. You must declare in your tax office which religion (or no religion) you belong to and if it is Catholic or Protestant, then you're charged with extra tax which is around 2% of your NET income (also interests from investments above I think 100 000 EUR). The tax supports your religious organization.

And don't be offended. I like Turkish people, I was living for some time in Bursa and I think you have quite good country, but what I wrote are only facts which some people may generalize to all Muslims.

There are also negative news about Muslim immigrants to Europe. For example annual riots of mostly African immigrants in Paris or regular riots of Muslims in Malmo, Sweden. I know that Turkey is the most European country out of Muslim countries. Ataturk changed Arabic alphabet into Latin, you have division of religion from state, but I don't understand why you denied Turkey being mostly Muslim.

Law / Giving notice that you are recording someone - Do they have this in Poland? [14]

Whenever anyone calls me (public utilities companies, salespeople) and tells me that the conversation is being recorded 'for training purposes', I always say, "please hold on whilst I get my recording equipment and I too will record the conversation 'for training purposes'". It's amazing how that throws them.

But you realize that according to what I wrote, as a private person, you don't have to tell them about you recording them?

Law / Giving notice that you are recording someone - Do they have this in Poland? [14]

RubasznyRumcajs is right. According to this article:

- recording someone else conversation is illegal
- recording our own conversation is LEGAL. It doesn't matter weather the conversation is private or as part of work. So such recording can be used in a court and you don't have to warn anybody that you will be recording.

About asking other person for consent to record conversation is written here:

Basically it says that companies ask for consent in order to be OK with the law abut data storing and processing. This law does not relate to private people.

Work / Salary and cost of living information - Krakow [257]

So I think that I cannot help you. In [hays.pl/cs/groups/hays_common/documents/digitalasset/hays_465124.pdf] independent accountant earns median 5000 pln gross in 2011. Maximum for such position is 7000 pln gross. Comparing to that 8000 pln seems reasonable. But I have no idea how much they need you and how easily they can find other good enough candidate.

Work / Salary and cost of living information - Krakow [257]

Thx for the update. It's good to know what are current rates. If it's Warsaw, then you can negotiate a little bit more I think. The 5000 which I mentioned was for 1 person. 5600 for 3 people will be ok, but no (or very little) savings.

Work / What is deducted from a salary in Poland apart from Income tax? [155]

And average salary in Poland is calculated only from 40% biggest companies, so the companies paying more than other 60%. And it doesn't take into account 20% of employed people who work with "umowa od dzieło", "umowa zlecenie", only people working with "umowa o prace". Majority of people employed in this way earn close to minimum wage.

So the value provided by GUS isn't even real average. Is it the same in other countries? If not then it doesn't have any comparative value. I know that in Germany only full employed people are counted to the official average, but I don't know if small companies are omitted by statistic office in the same way as in Poland.

And MrMleczko why do you answer to the post written in March? Admin here likes to merge old topics with new one.

Law / Cost of importing a car from Germany to Poland? [9]

read these articles:

Definitely the cheapest goes to buy directly from the owner . And while he would agree that we can get back to Polish on his own boards , it will be the best option . The only problem is that the Germans are very reluctant to agree to waive sold the car with the arrays. They fear that the tables do not return to Germany , and second, that the new buyer back to the Polish cause an accident and thus expose the seller to the loss of insurance relief . However, if we manage to overcome resistance and Germany will give us a car with arrays , remember that to return to the country we have only three days , so long because it is important to have ( also in Poland ) its insurance.

Another series of paperwork waiting for us already in Poland. Upon getting the car we have a month to complete all official matters . To register a car without any problems , we always have to go to the translator , who pocketed 100-200 zlotys , will prepare the Polish version of the file . In the meantime, we are obliged to pay the excise duty of 3.1 per cent . of the purchase price in case of engine cars up to 2000 cm3, or 18.6 percent . for the other . If you are using a premium car for 50 000 zł , it will be up to 9300 zł . Then we go to the first registration review of the diagnostic station and bring the recycling fee in the amount of PLN 500 . Only after passing this path , we go to the district department of communication , where paying 256 gold get arrays.

Also I've heard that average price of used car in Poland is lower than in Germany, because many of them were repaired after a car accident, what sellers try to hide.

Work / Claiming Income Taxes in Poland [12]

10k in the UK compared to 600 quid in Poland !..I can see why the UK is destination of choice for many Pole's.

Actually what matters for normal workers is how much NET they get and not how much taxes they pay, but if you want to compare some meaningful numbers then you should compare total taxation and not just one parameter of many taxes.

And to compare total taxation very convenient is Tax Freedom Day: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tax_Freedom_Day

For Poland it's: 47.4% and for UK 40.5%, so yes, Poland has higher taxes than UK, but lower that German 51.7%.

Work / Claiming Income Taxes in Poland [12]

When you say paid less than 3000PLN in taxes, do you not mean earned less than 3000PLN (ie income, wages) ? Because I think that's the approximate annual limit before a person gets taxed in PL (in the UK it's GBP10 tys. approx.).

Of course you're right. That's tax free income limit, not tax amount as I said.

when all the Poles went to the UK and got legal jobs and paid tax on their UK employment, did they pay that tax to the UK tax office or the Poland tax office for the first 6 months of the tax year of their stay in the UK?

Here it says that people who live in UK and come working for short term to Poland are obliged to pay taxes in Poland only from work performed in Poland. So they don't have to pay for example taxes from interests in Poland, but UK. It must be symmetrical for Poles coming for short term to UK.

pit.pl/osrodek_interesow_zyciowych_w_swietle_nowelizacji_ustawy_o_pit_k_2633.php

Actually I would like somebody who knows to answer how can I get back tax from my investments (lokata) in Polish banks if I am tax resident in Germany? Tax is commissioned automatically in Poland, but according to the above law I should pay it in Germany, not Poland.

And about the poster question, weather money can be claimed back. I think that I've heard that I can claim money back in Germany only if I am already tax resident here. But probably somebody told me wrong.

Work / Claiming Income Taxes in Poland [12]

By claiming I meant getting taxes back, for example if somebody worked only for 2 months per year and payed less than 3000 PLN taxes.

Actually I was probably wrong and such claiming money back should be possible. Opinion of somebody working professionally with taxes would be useful.

Work / Salary and cost of living information - Krakow [257]

OK, here you have more links concerning general salaries in Poland:

tiny.cc/hays-pdf
tiny.cc/outsourcing-pdf

I think that you should ask somewhere between 3000 - 10 000 PLN NET.

I guess they're in Warsaw:
Herbalife Polska Sp. z o.o.
ul. Falencka 1B, Janki
05-090 Raszyn

Then, to save something without living in shared apartment and saving on food you should be getting min. 5000 PLN net.

Work / Claiming Income Taxes in Poland [12]

To claim taxes in Poland you have to live here for more than 6 months in a tax year. You cannot get back pension contribution, only have your pension payed from Poland after reaching required retirement year, provided you had worked for more than 1 year in given EU country.
