Maybe you could elaborate on his opinions?

It was just the way huge billboards had sprung up all over the countryside on the main roads (they showed footage of it)..The way the "inocent charm" was quickly disapearing...I suppose he saw it from a point of view that what once was beautiful and unspoilt is going down the same road as every other country in Europe. Other than that he loved it there and has been involved in the music scene for some time...

I've heard. I didn't know he lives in Poland.

He has a home there..He lives in the UK most of the time.

There is no homo gene neither is it a mental condition.

I wouldnt say its a 'mental condtion' its rather a natural thing, its not considered a 'mental condition' for two people of the oposite sex to love each other and find each other attractive.

if there were no gays who want to take the terapy there would be no such a clinics.

If there were no such ignorant fools who think its a mental problem or a disease then there would be no such clinics!

FFS, this is the 21st century and people still think this way???????????????? They used to think too much w*nking caused blindness..strangely enough they proved that to be wrong too...if it were true most of you lot on here wouldnt be able to see your keyboards!

There really are jobs out there if ppl are prepared to work below themselves ffor a bit. My brother just walked into a factory job last week packing pot noodles but will do anything not to be on the dole. Im not syaing this is the cas ewith ur bro, but some ppl put one app in, get it declined and claim there are no jobs.

Your bro was lucky he lives in area where there are factories, some areas have suffered more than others..My niece went to look for some part time work when she was at college and there was a waiting list for the local tesco, they said it would be about 12 months! She did however manage to get 6 hours at Pizza Hut, you explain how a family could live off that?

12-year-olds are too young and irresponsible to care for children. They should have taken that child from her and let it be raised by a responsible adult.

They still live with their parents and dont actually look after the kids..

Really? Plenty of grads left uni this year only to join the ranks of the unemployed...Plenty of grads from last year are still looking too...So me thinks you are WRONG, yet there are plenty of kids with hardly any quals that have gone to work in the local supermarkets (if they're lucky)..

If you have ever been to UK, you will see that this is completely false. Those on benefits in the UK can seem to afford full sky packages, a car and a holiday every year.

Those on the fiddle, there are a lot that are living on the poverty line..its been well highlighted over here chick.

By the way we all know there's a problem with under age pregnancies in this country, kids are given advice on how NOT to get pregnant, not to engage in sex...There's a difference...As already stated by Kate its not just a problem that exists on council estates, its right across the board, its just certain sections of the public prefer not to have their childs exploits splashed across the front page of the local rag.

Hmmm..The majority of people that voted for the Cons were middle class, who are not as you so politely put it "uneducated" rather the opposite..There is a misconception that its only the working classes or the lazy never done a days work in their life that have issues with immigration, there mere fact that the Cons got it speaks volumes for how the upper classes feel, since the main topic and their main points were about reducing immigration.

In the 1930's the economy in Germany was faltering and there was hyper inflation, the Weimar gov looked for a scapegoat and they focused the problem on the Jews and the rest is history.

Thats Germany, we on this island have had immigration from europe for centuries and as long as people mix and dont ghettoise themselves, there hasnt really been a problem.

So if we fast forward to 2008 and the fallout from the financial crisis, unemployment rising in France and the UK, austerity measures being put in place and the talk of 100, to 300,000 civil servants losing their jobs

Not only civil servants, businesses have been going to wall like there's no tomorrow and 1,000s have already lost their jobs, not to mention companies relocating to other countries.

I still dont agree that Poles will be singled out and shuned like the Jews were in Germany, they're members of the EU and there isnt a thing that Britain can do to get rid of them..Rather the government has targeted non EU citizens..You only have to look at the way they have raised the points on the Tier 2 switch to Tier 1..Its almost impossible for the VAST MAJORITY..meaning hardly any of them qualify and will have to leave the UK.

Its not easy being a single parent anywhere in the world, but why do you think other people should pay? As already stated people make life choices and its down to them to ensure they are able to provide financially for a new addition to the family. As for single parents in Poland, I hear the courts are quite good at making absent parents pay for their offspring..

Abortion is a tabu in Poland you know ;)

So is contraception!

Because a lot Poles enjoy a high quality of life and enjoy the same level of respect as I do..The rest that dont, dont because they fail to fit it or speak the language here and live a miserable existence which is not Britains fault, its theirs..

Are you having a laugh? You can't compare them in any way.

Point me to the law which says that Poles cannot send money home on their earnings from the UK.

If there was, there'd be a lot less home owning Poles in Poland ;0)

and there are definitely rules on who you can gift money to (and how much) without being taxed on it.

This applies to all in the UK, gifting through a charity you can avoid paying tax, but you can gift ANYONE, their is a limit each year which is none taxible, this limit changes each year, currently it's about £3,000, but to be honest, unless you are giving £100s of £1,000s and have to account for every penny then the tax man wont know...

Yes it is sad that in the UK the flag represents extremists rather than people who are proud of their country. The only place it seems acceptable to fly it is parliament or the palaces or castles, that kind of thing. Otherwise, the ordinary householder who wants to fly the flag is usually seen as being affiliated to some kind of extreme group. Shame.

Usually seen by whom? Its all about perception and about brainwashing...I wouldnt personally fly a flag, but I dont automatically assume someone is a nazi because they want to.

Slightly off topic! The Union flag of Great Britain is only called the "Union Jack" when raised on the "Jack" mast of a ship.

This is a common mistake often made..My mums side are all Royal Navy so I knew this :D

Life / My first impressions of Poland, long time ago [37]

ok but in Scotland you also have small towns and still ppl can bear living in such places...

Most people who live in small places tend to either commute to larger cities so get the best of both worlds or they are happy to stay in their little bubbles and know no different.

My experience as a tourist (3 visits to Poland) was very positive, nice clean place and in general the people were polite..Most of all, as a female I felt safer there than I do in England (I mean in city centres in the UK, where I live I have no issues about walking home from a friends late at night)...

Here's a really crazy thought, you're going to have to work with me with this one..But why weren't Poland preparing themselves? They had an agressive neighbour, but did very little to protect themselves, why blame Britain for your countries failures. I suppose its easier to blame someone else.
