News / Has the mainstream media in Poland made too much of what 17 year old school girl said to premier Tusk [41]

I wonder if the people you spoke to didn't like Kaczynski? If that is the case, then they would be saying that, wouldn't they?

Also, do these people you asked speak English fluently? If they don't, then how can they know what the word translates to exactly? It could be they don't know the term pi$$ off. I'm not wrong. It is a lighter form. Like kurde does not mean the same as kurwa. They are different. Kurwa is f*ck. Kurde is like saying 'damn' or ******' I'm not saying it's a nice term what was said, but it's like telling someone to sod off, and that is not as bad as f*ck off.

Rubbish! I hope you don't expect non- Polish speakers to believe that lie.

Please don't school me about Polish. I speak it fluently at home. Spierdalaj or spierdzielaj means f*ck off. What he said is a much lighter version of it, i.e. pi$$ off. Spadaj would be get lost and so on. If you have any more questions about Polish, just ask.

There ya go. That wasn't so hard was it?

Now for a couple of facts.

The translation of what he said is basically pi$$ off sir, then pi$$ off old man. Far from ideal, this is true, but....

It should also be pointed out that this was in 2002, before he was the president. I don't remember him saying anything like that as the head of the country [unless you have another clip for me] Tusk did not say anything bad to the girl on camera, as the premier of Poland. Do you think he had never said anything rude to anybody before this?

Now the stuff that the so well educated high and mighty Mr Lis has said to his fellow worker or workers [as can be seen if you click on the bottom link of my original post and scroll down a bit] is far worse. Lis basically says the Polish for the F word to somebody [or some people] over and over. Yet he has the nerve, in his TV program, to say this girl has obviously been brought up badly.

Somebody committed a criminal act and the victim was the Prime Minister of Poland

You really want to go down that road? In that case how about we also round up the many thousands of people who have said vulgar and untrue things about Jaroslaw Kaczynski and other representatives of PiS? I'm sure I know a PO politician or two who have falsely diagnosed Kaczynski as mentally ill.

News / Has the mainstream media in Poland made too much of what 17 year old school girl said to premier Tusk [41]

A few days ago, 17 year old student Marysia Sokołowska asked premier Tusk why he pretends to be a patriot when he's a traitor.

Tusk also tried to give her flowers but she said she didn't accept them from traitors

2

Since this happened, the mainstream has been commenting the girl's behaviour negatively. Even Tomasz Lis mentioned it on his program [Tomasz Lis Na Zywo], saying that she has been raised badly.

Funnily enough, an old clip was found of him swearing at his co worker to show just how well he must have been raised.

"Coarse", "lack of education" and "bad manners" protested about 17-year-old Mary Sokołowska editor Tomasz Lis. All because a teenager called Prime Minister Tusk a "traitor" and has not accepted from him flowers.

"Well, we have a new star. Miss Marysia, a high school student from Gorzow, was the most famous high school student in Poland. It was enough ignorant and lack of education" - wrote on his website Tomasz Lis.

The question is, have they made a meal of it? The girl said one sentence to Mr Tusk. It was negative, and he left right after it. She didn't abuse him in any way. Where is it said that when someone meets him or another member of parliament or VIP, they have to suck up to them? The media coverage of this has not brought more light on her. Would it not have been better to leave it alone? Is it such an important incident?

Any chance we could possibly paste them in to here and go through some of them? They are interesting and I understand some of them, but others are trickier to work out.

Feedback / Editing time too short (5 minutes currently) [60]

Merged: How much time do we have to edit our posts?

It can't be more than 5 minutes. I tried to edit mine a few minutes after writing it. Access Denied! Most forums either let you edit your posts freely or until someone else posts after you, then you can't do it in case they say you said something wrong and you try to edit it later. The amount of time we have on here is a stupidly short.

News / Polish Pope, John Paul II has been canonized today [with John 23rd] [85]

Should he have known? What if it was kept from him? I'm sure people like you think that the Vatican Church is corrupt anyway, so perhaps they kept it from him? I'm sure there might be people in the Vatican right now who aren't overly keen about where the current Pope is heading. Some decisions might be made behind his back. Who knows? I never said the Vatican was squeaky clean.

Sure, Rolf Harris was a hero of mine when I was a kid, loved his tv shows and his books

I'm not sure how infatuated you are with Rolf Harris, but I'm sure Rolf is not you, what JPII was too myself and many other Catholics. I think a better comparison would be somebody attacking a family member of yours.

To defend a person in light of that proof on the basis that they were born in the same country as you is a bit daft.

Problem is, I don't think we have had would you call solid proof. Stuff went on when he was The Pope. Nobody has proven that he was told about it and said 'meh, whatever, let it continue.'

Why does some Poles take it so personally when another Pole they've never met or known is criticised?

Because that is how people react when one of the greatest figures from their country is attacked by a foreigner. Black people would probably get angry if Martin Luther King Jr was criticized, so would Indian's if you had a go at Gandhi [I know people make fun of him a lot]. It's the way it is. You probably have people you think were great, that you admire very much, and would defend if they were attacked.

News / Jaruzelski dead / his legacy in Poland [116]

Someone who isn't Polish and tends to read and watch post communist leftist media, is going to consider Jaruzelski an amazing patriot. Someone who has a brain will know he was the opposite of that.

I don't understand the topic title. I assume you mean, the time between posts is becoming greater, i.e. people are posting less frequently, or are you saying that people are posting a lot more [though that doesn't seem to coincide sense with replies you have received]?

Man, you're written some dumb things, but that there is the clincher.

I'm sure I've had that said to me by you and other expats at this forum before. So is this the clincher, or will you say the same about another comment I make in a few days?

Come and say that to my face, hard man on the Internet aren't you?

Are you seriously doing that old 'tough guy on the internet' argument with me. I'm not even going to go there. Believe if you have told me what you typed, I would have said it to your face. Then what would you do?

Funny that those who call others out on trying to be internet tough guys, are often the most cowardly in real life and never speak out. Only on the internet.

Lose the attitude and maybe try and educate yourself

I don't have an attitude and am educated, thanks.

Don't be silly: he wasn't alive then (and has never lived a day of his life in Poland)

There we go again. Another statement made without knowing any facts. So how do you know I have never spend a day in Poland?

People keep arguing that John Paul II covered stuff up. How do you know this? You don't. I [or other Catholics] have never claimed that the Catholic Church does not have bad apples [like most organizations]. Do you think if they found out that some priest had done these terrible things to children, the first thing they would do is make sure they go and alert the Pope? Has it occurred to any of you that he might not have known? You do know that much later he apologized for the sins committed by the Catholic Church, so perhaps he found out later. It could have been hidden, not only from the media, but from the Pope. There is no evidence that he purposely hid anything, it's nothing but false claims by anti Catholic left wingers 'well this and that was being covered up by the Catholic Church, so since John Paul II was Pope, he must have known about it and instigated the cover up.

News / Polish Pope, John Paul II has been canonized today [with John 23rd] [85]

VATICAN CITY (TheBlaze/AP) - A massive audience showed up Sunday to see a historic dual papal canonization - the first in history. Pope Francis presided over the event, which was a public proclamation of Popes John Paul II and John XXIII's sainthood.

Obama Sends Paratroopers to Poland Amid Ukraine Crisis

AP: US army paratroopers arrive in Poland beginning a series of military exercises in four countries across Eastern Europe to bolster allies in the wake of Russia's annexation of Ukraine's Crimean Peninsula last month. (April 23)

Thoughts on this? Is this to make Russia think twice or nothing much?

News / Polish MP lives as a migrant in London earning £100 [21]

It's like one of those programs when a guy is out in the woods on his own, trying to survive, but has a camera crew with him who are bound to have more than enough supplies. He's just doing this so he can go on TVN's Kawa na Lawe in a few weeks time and boast about having actually tried to live like this. Sure doing this is better than not doing it, but nothing will come of it.

It's just a stunt to attack the government [who deserve to be attacked I suppose] and say, 'hey, Polish people would rather live in British, far from perfect conditions, in some crappy room earning minimum wage, than stay in Poland.

UK, Ireland / Romanian manual labour workers in the UK making Poles look bad. [12]

Well if Polish people have to worry about being pushed out of work, then British people are in deep doodoo. A lot of Polish people did the jobs that British people did not want to do, for low money. It seems that now they might be undercut themselves. What's good for the goose.
