It doesn't make sense. Household in my story represent a country, in your story there are only people. What are they homeless? It might apply to illustrate immigrants and possible issues with them.

Poland its a homestead with some ground around it. You're a richer neighbor that want to cut the road across its ground. Just because you have given to your neighbor some money in the past. Now you have all those many favors to ask but also you usurp yourself a role of a boss, and feel you can order them about and tell them what they should do/shouldn't do on their own property.
