Life / Poland needs more immigrants and their children - which nationalities are the best? [518]

That's easy. Filipinos, Koreans, Chinese are hard-working and family-oriented. They also make great neighbors.

Don`t forget the Vietnamese. I suppose they make the biggest Asian minority in Poland.

Maybe better child benefit rates, better childcare facilities provided by the state and more stringent maternity leave law etc. would encourage more births.

That is simple to say but hard to introduce. Poland is already hugely indebted, you wanna make it bigger?

No we don't. We don't want become another UK with a lot oriental restaurants and pubs but no hardware shops.

What about chain DIY stores?

Consider Greeks, they're buggered for the next couple of decades and some will want out.

Yes, there were already a few waves of Greek immigration to Poland: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greeks_in_Poland

It not that Poles don't want to breed they simply can't afford it in this sad, anti citizen, opressive country..

It isn`t true. Quite the opposite. Never in their history have Poles been as prosperous as today. I claim it is prosperity that halted reproduction - people prefer comfortable lives to family duties.

You already have a half germanic population, then a high percentage is genealogically Scottish, Irish, English, etc.

Really? :):):) I didn`t know about it.

Love / Woman 23, man 47 years old. What do you think about ? [162]

Most women are self-suffient these days and chose who they wish to marry because its for love, not because they found some mug to look after them..

Two sayings come to mind:
Women marry for love ...... of money. :):):):)

No woman marries for money; they are all clever enough, before marrying a millionaire, to fall in love with him first.

Just joking. :):):):):)

Life / Poland needs more immigrants and their children - which nationalities are the best? [518]

I did it so people like f2 could understand it.

Can you do me a favour and not resort to personal veiled slights in such a serious thread as this? :):):):):)

Which nation would you propose as the best immigration minority?

2. Bring people in from eastern europe.

Yes, I am thinking about it.

E.g., Belarussians are fine people. Peaceful, friendly, intelligent. Thanks to Lukashenka`s regime`s mad policies, Belarussians are slowly losing their fairly satisfactory standard of life.

belarusdigest.com/story/how-survive-200-dollars-month-7591

However, we will compete with Russians who also need Belarussians immigrants:

News / Anti-Polish propaganda (proposed change to Polish property restitution laws) [21]

Does it? According to my wife it means slaughter/mass death.

According to mine, it also means the total victory over the enemy. :):):):):)

A good name for a horse though, similar to Tsunami.

Someone might say that because of tragic tsunami in 2007, horses shouldn`t be called like that.

Come on, political correctness should meet certain limits, too.....

Life / Poland needs more immigrants and their children - which nationalities are the best? [518]

1. Encourage Poles who left Poland to return.

I excluded it at the very beginning. Poles are restless travellers, have always been. No matter how well things go in Poland, some Poles will always leave and try new opportunities abroad. The grass is always greener etc sayings are appropriate to describe this matter.

Life / Poland needs more immigrants and their children - which nationalities are the best? [518]

In a post-industrial era there is no need for lots of people anyway.

Sorry, that`s still only theory, not practice.

Read about contemporary German labour market:

SPIEGEL: Do Germans have anything to fear from these newcomers?
No. They should be pleased. Germany needs immigrants. The demographic situation in the country is fatal, partly because Germans are having too few children. In Britain and Ireland, the numerous immigrants from Eastern Europe have helped boost the local economy. Newcomers are motivated, hard-working, avid consumers and pay tax. Demographers estimate that Germany needs 300,000 extra workers every year if the country is to maintain growth at 2 to 3 percent.

Today EU member states are locked in a ruthless battle for labor. It's not Germans who should be worried about the next wave of immigration, but us Poles. Our workers are being lured away, but nobody wants to come to Poland.

spiegel.de/international/europe/0,1518,759502,00.html

With the Earth's total human population currently around a staggering 7 billion and growing the question shouldn't be about importing more immigrants or having more children just to give job security to the likes of teachers and politicians who rely on large numbers of people for their own existence.

Yes, I know, I am selfish. I care about my self- sustaining now. :):):):):) Apart from teaching my own children, I need others too.

PS. Thank you for registering and participation in this thread, btw.

Meet a promising Polish horse called Pogrom

Jews can be oversensitive at times.

Meet a promising Polish horse called Pogrom
By Jennifer Lipman, February 28, 2012
Follow Jennifer on Twitter
A woman whose mother fled to the United States to escape the pogroms has expressed her shock at finding a horse named Pogrom competing in an Arizona championship.

Pogrom, a Polish colt, had been lent to Scottsdale's Midwest Training Centre by the Polish government.
Nettie Sacks, 79, whose mother and grandparents left Europe in 1915 after a pogrom, told the Arizona Central news site that she was astonished by the name.

"To me, the word means when the Polish peasants formed a group and they called it a pogrom and they went to all the little villages to find the Jews and kill them all," she said.

But Sue Adams, from the training centre, defended the choice on the basis that the word meant "an invincible leader" in Polish.
"They did not intend to choose a name that would be offensive," she said.
"We can all agree that it was a most unfortunate choice of names for a horse that has matured into a magnificent champion stallion with a promising future here."

thejc.com/news/world-news/64250/meet-a-promising-polish-horse-called-pogrom

Besides, associating the word pogrom with Poland solely is a silly slander. It is of Russian origin and "The term is usually applied to attacks on Jews in the Russian Empire in the late 19th and early 20th centuries"

If they called their horse Gas Chamber, I would be disgusted. But Pogrom? In the Polish language it doesn`t refer to Jews only.

Life / Poland needs more immigrants and their children - which nationalities are the best? [518]

As a teacher, I am deeply concerned about such painful issues:

It has been estimated that up to 800 schools will be closed in Poland this year, after 300 were shut down in 2011.
The official reason given for the liquidation of schools throughout Poland is the upcoming demographic downturn that will result in a decline in the number of available pupils for these schools. Of course behind this fact lies a debate about whether schools should be provided as a service, even in areas where there are less pupils, or whether they should be run along the lines of profitable businesses.

beyondthetransition.blogspot.com/2012/01/plans-to-close-hundreds-of-schools-met.html

Someone/something has to put a stop to it.

I suppose Poland needs more foreign children as Polesses don`t want to breed as they used to in the past.

As a rule, immigrants produce a lot of children, that`s what I heard. They might fill the Polish schools with pupils and students.

Currently, a typical Polish class looks like that: Poland class

All white fair skinned and haired Caucasians boys and girls. Fantastic guys, but this homogeneity can get boring in the longer run.

I have nothing against the Polish class look like British,German, French or Dutch one:

Questions:

Which nationalities would you recommend for Poland? What should Poland do to successfully compete in the immigration market and attract more than other countries? Should Polish men have more sex? :)

Food / How toxic is industrial salt? (some food factories in Poland used it for sausages) [49]

This salt affair reminds me of food scandals in other countries. When I stayed in US in early 1990s, the Perrier mineral water was accused of contamination.

The company that made bottled mineral water chic is voluntarily recalling its entire inventory of Perrier from store shelves throughout the United States after tests showed the presence of the chemical benzene in a small sample of bottles.

The impurity was discovered in North Carolina by county officials who so prized the purity of Perrier that they used it as a standard in tests of other water supplies.

The company said the search for the source of contamination is focusing on the packaging and distribution process. Perrier is conducting an extensive internal investigation and is cooperating with Federal and state officials, the statement said.

Benzene, a natural component of crude oil, has been shown to cause cancer in laboratory animals and is believed to do the same in humans.

The Polish press article suggests that all accusations against K&S school mentioned in this thread are true.

So, guys,

do you know what it means TO WALK TO CANOSSA ????

:):):):)

If not:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walk_to_Canossa

Today, "Canossa" refers to an act of penance or submission. To "go to Canossa" is an expression - used often in German: "nach Canossa gehen", in Danish, Norwegian and Swedish: "Canossavandring" or "Kanossagang", in French: "aller à Canossa", in Italian: "andare a Canossa", and in Slovenian: "pot v Canosso" - to describe doing penance, often with the connotation that it is unwilling or coerced.[/i]

Life / Myslovitz- are there any other Polish bands that sing the same genre and are as good? [9]

could you name just a few? I have no idea where to start, I even had to be told about Myslovitz!

Do you prefer ballads or rock`n roll?

I suppose I prefer Rock n Roll as I don't like music that is too slow.

Try T.Love

I suppose I prefer Rock n Roll as I don't like music that is too slow.

I asked because Myslovitz is famous for its ballads.

It is all mixed up.

So,

try out these rocking ballads by Wilki - greatest hits in 1990s:

Life / Myslovitz- are there any other Polish bands that sing the same genre and are as good? [9]

I have only just discovered Myslovitz, a

Great group.

Their best song, IMHO:

Nocami w samotności
Rozpustny sen widziałem
Żeśmy w jednym łóżku
Spojeni ciało z ciałem
Ale tym snem najśmielszym
Twej dumy nie urażę, o nie

O Peggy Brown, o Peggy Brown
Kto ciebie ukochać będzie umiał

are there any other Polish bands/groups that have a similar sound? or are as good as them?

Plenty, too little time to mention all.

The Responsibility of Those Who Have Become the Root

Pam answered, "Behold, I have taken upon myself to speak to Pawian, who am I but dust and ashes.
Suppose five of fifty righteous are lacking? Wilt thou destiny the whole thread for lack of five? ... Suppose forty are found there... Suppose thirty are found there... Suppose twenty are found there."

Pawian answered, "For the sake of twenty I will not destroy it."

Then pam said, "Oh let not pawian be angry, and I will speak again but this once. Suppose one is found there. Me."

Pawian answered, "For the sake of one, you, I will not destroy this thread."

can you tell me if first photo is of a sand lizard?

Nope, the photo wasn`t taken in the desert. It is the en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viviparous_lizard which
lives in damp places or near water, including meadows, swamps, rice fields, by brooks and in damp forests. In the northern part of the range the species is also found in lowlands, where it occurs in drier environments, including open woodland, meadows, moorland, heathland, fens, dunes, rocks, roadsides, hedgerows and gardens. It lives mainly on the ground, although it may climb onto rocks, logs and low-growing vegetation.
