UK, Ireland / Why English do not like Polish? [417]

for example who likes the Russians?

the english do..

Maybe if they would add some tomato sauce to the pierogi, it would improve a bit, but that's just my opinion.

blasphemy!!!

Life / WOULD YOU MOVE BACK TO POLAND IF.... [73]

Is that what Poland is now? Heaven for racists?

sure seems like that.. i'm sure Canada would be glad to get rid of OP...

Come on, be a man

she can't be, mr grand dragon

Sing it, sister! ;)

and burn a cross or two with trener and rychlik

Drastically different cultures don't mix well.

and of course you are wrong as ever.. good luck with your ignorance

how about you try to keep your petty secondhand Liberalism to yourself rather than forcing others to ingest it.

how about you go away and quit forcing everyobody to deal with your super racist bs, arsehole.

Never have you seen me post anything racist. I expect a retraction or I will be forced to ask the administrator to sanction you, PC coward. ;)

that is exaclty what i am doing to your racist posts.. you're rather sick

Still not a retraction...

you may want to look in the morror and then appologise to everyone here.. you're extremely racist and if you can't see that then you're also dumb as hell

UK, Ireland / The slow, whiny death of British Christianity [86]

it wasn't meant as an insult... but we have discussed all of this one ZY's thread last week anyway.. maybe you didn't partake though.. still, how much reality is in the bible or other scriptures? not much, as far as i can tell..

UK, Ireland / The slow, whiny death of British Christianity [86]

Christianity all over the western world, yes including the US is in decline.

i don't know about that.. or maybe the far out there branch of it here has grown..

Plk123, Britain has 3 countries.

i know.. read the article.. those aren't my words..

plk123:
Britain, is now the most irreligious country on earth.

Naw, really?
I doubt that, what about the Netherlands?

again, not my words.. maybe the among the "natives"?.. i dunno.. i figured the number of believers would be covered by numbers of muslims though... but the article is about christianity though... NL may be. i'm no expert.. i just found the article interesting and thought many of you would too.

scp-inc.org/publications/journals/J2704/

damn, great article.. will have to come back and read the whole thing

Britain is 8th place in this pole:
Gallup poll 2007-2008

i see... surprised that all of scandinavia is in the lead..

And now congregation, put your hands together and give thanks, for I come bearing Good News. My country, Britain, is now the most irreligious country on earth. This island has shed superstition faster and more completely than anywhere else. Some 63 percent of us are non-believers, according to a 2006 Guardian/ICM poll, while 82 percent say religion is a cause of harmful division. Now, let us stand and sing our new national hymn: Jerusalem was dismantled here/ in England's green and pleasant land.

Life / Polish people and Politeness [84]

There are many more where that came from. This is a subculture of virtually every country that plays football, with the possible exception of Japan as I never heard about J League fights.

no brawls in USA at the soccer matches ..

Life / Polish people and Politeness [84]

True, if you haven't learned basic manners like those, we can't expect you to apply them, enkidu. Fair point! You just do it differently :)

Does Poland really have the 'o-kari' system of indebtedness like in Japan? Do Poles really feel that they must return the favour?

I mentioned this on more then one occasion but what it really is, it's that respect is forwarded in PL not earned like in the west.. of course one can still earn "more" respect, if you will, but respect precedes everything else and thus politeness is kind of more noticeable..

escapee3:
What about the great British bane of queue jumping - is that usual in Poland?

it does happen

it does happen? lol.. poles are masters at it and at using their elbows.. ;) :D

USA, Canada / Better life in USA or Canada? - expats opinions and your comparison [143]

paycheckcity.com/canada/coeatonca/caCalculator.aspx (Canada)
paycheckcity.com/NetPayCalc/netpaycalculator.asp (US)

hmm.. i just did mine and the paycheck in the USA would definitely be higher.

life in America can be ridiculously easy and cheap.

yup.. but one doesn't have to live on the cheap chinese junk like you think everyone does.. also, most people say that healthy food is expensive but i disagree.. i tend to buy the better stuff but then i am frugal and know when to buy what..

youtube.com/watch?v=Va2Ydlf2cqc

lol.. great stuff

Generally speaking Canada is much more expensive place to live than USA.

yup, yup, and yup.

History / Polish Civil War after the German Occupation in WW2? [7]

the appeal was therefore limited.

this is where the "see out" by the west comes into play

It was occupied by the Soviet regime and fighting continued in isolated pockets around Poland until about mid 1947. It was largely remnants of the AK against Soviet/Soviet controlled security personnel, though I stand to be corrected as my knowledge here is hazy at best.

i dunno about fighting.. there need not be any for arrests and deportations to happen.. many were arrested or killed just because of their association with AK or anti commie stance.

History / Polish Civil War after the German Occupation in WW2? [7]

Why did the communists feel compelled to kill the AK?

AK was anti communist and thus dangerous to the commie regime: read about about AK:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armia_Krajowa

and about the PL gov in exile:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish_government-in-exile

this is why there are many threads about kresy and other eastern lands related ones.. also Gen Anders' army was mainly made up of AK and other non commies sent to Siberia.

was it a civil war? not per se but i guess you could see it that way.

Travel / Any PRACTICAL advice for a new visitor to Warsaw? [29]

Also, I recommend Lazienki - it is very nice, but take some walking shoes, because it is a large area.

it's a must.. not negotiable.. if you don't see anything else.. better go to this park. everything else aphro recommends is right on too. + barbakan, the cathedral, st. maria church and any other church in the old town and on krakowskie przedmiescie. the saxon park with the tomb of the unknown soldier.. the palace of science and culture.. make sure to go to the top to the observation deck..

I'd like a Yankee perception of Poland, yes Kalifoornians count as Yankees. ;)

no they don't they are fruity flakes however. lol

be ware of pickpockets and drunkards.. definitely bring walking shoes.. walk by the river just below the old city.. also, check out the palace in Wilanow, if you have the chance.

Love / Possibility of Marriage with a Polish lady [96]

shekofte

does she know you're persian?
if you're muslim, that may be an issue.
polish women like their independence and don't care to be part of a harem or wearing abayah.

There are plenty of virgins in Iran, right?

yes, of course.. they aren't as spoilt as the westerners, after all

The fact you care so much about her being a virgin is worrisome. At 27 are you a virgin yourself? If so, will you stay a virgin until you find a virgin wife? That's only fair, wouldn't you say?

i know that may seem weird or impossible but that is not so out of the norm in the middle east.

No, you are ****** up and so is your religion.

I feel sorry for polish women who marry muslim men.

yo don't know any of that.. not all iranians are muslim.. look into it.

Very difficult times for virgin hunters in Poland.

haha.. the funniest thing in a while .. rofl

Work / From the USA, is it hard to study in Poland? [44]

i don't really agree with most of the people who are saying that you shouldn't even consider college in PL.. it definitely depends on what you study/ if your Polish isn't excellent then you need to consider programs in English. there is a fair amount of those in PL now.. as to Polish college not counting as much as British or US university, that is true to some effect but not entirely. A friend of mine's brother has a medical degree from Jagielonian U and some other degree from U of Budapest and he works as a Doctor in the US without any issues.. I know another person about to commence pharmacy studies in PL and another who is a dentist from a PL university.. I don't think any of them will have any issues getting certified in the US and securing a job in any country.

so, like i said, it really depends on what you want to study..
