News / How would Poland change for the better (or worse) under a PiS government? [257]

Indeed, which is why people believe that Szydło can cut taxes while increasing welfare measures.

Latest news is that PiS intend to change the current system of ZUS for self employed people into making them pay the full contributions. That means nearly 40% tax for self employed people, as they must cover the employer and employee contributions together. Then there's income tax on top...

Likewise. Supporting a government that openly refuses to comply with the law is unthinkable.

It's worth pointing out that both decisions of the Constitutional Tribunal have been published now, yet Duda continues to break the law. That's exactly why we will be out on the streets tomorrow.

Please do; I'm looking forward to seeing that.

You might also like to see this :

coe.int/en/web/conventions/full-list/-/conventions/rms/090000168007f2c8 - European Convention on Nationality

Article 16 - Conservation of previous nationality

A State Party shall not make the renunciation or loss of another nationality a condition for the acquisition or retention of its nationality where such renunciation or loss is not possible or cannot reasonably be required.

Looks like "Legal Eagle" can add the Council of Europe to the list of institutions of which he knows nothing.

A group of carpetbagging foreigners who still claim primary allegiance to foreign powers and wish to undermine Poland's democratically elected government should not hold Polish citizenship.

Fortunately, here in Europe, the right to demonstrate and protest is considered a basic human right.

The Polish government is now being petitioned to require foreigners who have accepted Polish citizenship to renounce foreign citizenship(s), or face penalties, including loss of citizenship. It is time to end this nonsense.

You do realise that such a law would hurt the ex-USSR Polonia considerably, and they would be very, very unhappy if the government tried to implement such a thing? For that reason, the government will have absolutely no interest in enacting such a thing, not that a one-man petition will actually change anything.

You can all love Poland or leave Poland.

We love Poland. That's why we're taking to the streets tomorrow.

News / Demonstrations in Poland in defence of democracy. [2554]

Acquiring a second citizenship by naturalization results in the loss of previous citizenship:

Child, this is certainly not the case. The British and Polish authorities couldn't care less if someone is a dual citizen.

Maybe you want to put that back before someone notices that it is gone and the U.K. revokes your British passport?

Why would anyone in the UK care, given that a huge amount of British people have dual citizenship with another country?

Was your life really that bad back in the U.K.?

What a strange accusation to make.

It is time for the Polish government to end the influx of foreigners getting citizenship when they hate the country, its culture and values, and spout of communist anti-Polinist historiography.

A classic internet forum statement if there ever was one.

No, son, it does not, as those of us who have done it know and as you would know if you'd looked at the date on that document you link to.

Quoting a document from 1963 when Poland joined the CoE in 1991 shows that he can add European law to the list of subjects that he knows nothing about.

Must get round to posting the final list of demonstrations tomorrow. Hamburg has joined us :)

News / How would Poland change for the better (or worse) under a PiS government? [257]

. In today's world, the State will need accountability from the Church: both financial (i.e., if we give you $$$ to help the poor, we want to see you're actually doing that)

I stopped reading right here. Anyone that genuinely knows something about Poland knows that PiS will transfer large sums to the Church in exchange for their support come election time, and that the money will mysteriously vanish.

I've never heard of drones being banned for "secret reasons" for a random short period of time without any explanation as to why. Perhaps you mean Russia, but that's hardly civilised, although it's clear you're a huge supporter of Putin.

We all know the real reason : KOD used a drone to show a significantly bigger crowd than PiS wanted to show. Therefore, drones must be banned in order to prevent the information getting out. Such crude and pathetic propaganda.

PiS have imposed possibly the most hilarious piece of censorship ever.

The Government Protection Bureau (BOR) has banned flights over the center of the capital.

wiadomosci.onet.pl/warszawa/zakaz-lotow-dronami-nad-stolica/wfqpby#.VnQKtMYb_7s.facebook

PiS must be absolutely terrified. They know fine well that the drone flight was used by KOD to illustrate the size of the demonstration last Saturday, and this just confirms it :D

News / How would Poland change for the better (or worse) under a PiS government? [257]

This is not any NATO institution

thenews.pl/1/9/Artykul/233399,Defence-Ministry-enters-NATO-centre-in-the-dead-of-night

"Polish staff members working for NATO's counterintelligence centre have lost access to classified information and had to be replaced," Foreign Affairs Minister Witold Waszczykowski said on Friday.

So Waszczykowski says that it was a NATO institution.

Looks like you can't even get your story straight, PiS-boy.

News / How would Poland change for the better (or worse) under a PiS government? [257]

They have no connection with the PZPR.

They have many connections with the PZPR. The leader of the PiS-appointed Human Rights Committee, Piotrowicz, was a PZPR public prosecutor that actively prosecuted dissidents in the PRL.

So what's the point of latching on the such peripheral and irrelevant trifles?

I thought PiS were supposed to be about "decommunization", not "appointing Jarosław Kaczyński's ex-PZPR friends to positions of power and influence".

News / How would Poland change for the better (or worse) under a PiS government? [257]

It's a NATO institution and shows the utter lack of respect for PiS towards our military allies.

Don't worry, we know that PiS is very much good for Russia. Putin must be laughing his head off watching this - Macierewicz destroying regional cooperation is exactly what he wants.

News / Demonstrations in Poland in defence of democracy. [2554]

Another morning, and yet more demonstrations added to the already considerable list.

Grudziadz - Rynek Główny
Kielce - Urzad Wojewodzki

Again - I urge people to get out there. We need to defend our country against night raids, against abusive law breaking and most of all - to defend our Constitution.

News / How would Poland change for the better (or worse) under a PiS government? [257]

No, they really haven't. This wasn't an intelligence/counter-intelligence operation, this was a straightforward attempt by PiS to gain access to NATO intelligence. Given that PiS are riddled with ex-PZPR members, one really has to wonder what is going on here.

Wonder why you're so supportive of PiS and their pro-Russia activities.

News / How would Poland change for the better (or worse) under a PiS government? [257]

This story is absolutely ridiculous, and shows how Macierewicz is acting on behalf of the Russians here. NATO is not going to tolerate such nonsense - and it's pretty simple that this act puts Poland at harm by causing trouble within NATO.

Bączek wanted to take over the rooms of the international personnel, but gendarmes protested saying it would be illegal.

It's absolutely incredible. Do they really think NATO is going to trust Poland with anything now? After all these years of slowly building confidence within NATO, Macierewicz throws it all away for...what exactly?

News / Reactions of Poles to Negative Publicity from the Foreign Press [56]

1. Germany waited 7 years before letting Poles work in the country, yet they are accepting Syrians, people from another continent, right away.

Doesn't make much sense to most Germans as well. Even my left wing German friends are utterly confused by everything.

2. Poland is in NATO for many years now, but no NATO forces station in Poland.

There are complex reasons for that, not least because NATO doesn't necessarily trust Poland.

3. Between NATO and EU, Germany is much more concerned with pleasing Russia than pleasing its nearest partner.

Makes perfect sense. Poland is no threat to Germany, but Russia certainly is.

Law / Family law in Poland - want the Polish children back to the Irish courts [53]

I think the post above should be taken with a large pinch of salt. Trying to give false hope to a potential client is about the worst thing you can do - we all know that Poland doesn't respect the Hague Convention, as well as applying random and arbitrary judgements even when the Hague Convention clearly applies.

News / Demonstrations in Poland in defence of democracy. [2554]

There's a flow of people walking for 15 min with no beginning and end of it in sight. There are tonnes of pictures and videos showing huge scale of it.

Show us the aerial footage, Greggy. It's not that difficult, KOD managed it, so why can't you?

No it wasn't. The only one that claims it was, are the Warsaw city authorities (still held by the regime) which shows the method of manipulation.

You're forgetting that they also revealed their methodology, while the police failed to do so despite repeated requests. It's also notable that the police first said over 50,000, then changed their mind the next day. And the police are controlled by....the Ministry of the Interior.

You, foreigner, are involved in organizing the regime's demonstrations against the people, who have just won free and democratic elections. Your credibility i zero.

It's our country. It's our democratic right to demonstrate against a deeply suspicious government that prioritises giving Jarosław Kaczyński's friends top jobs over the ordinary people.

News / Demonstrations in Poland in defence of democracy. [2554]

Likely largely members of the previous regime's parties that have nearly 200 thousand members across the country.

Not really. From what I saw, there were a lot of ordinary citizens that had lived through the PZPR once and didn't like PiS appointing endless ex-PZPR functionaries to top positions.

Demonstration supporting the government was at least 3 times larger.

Now now Greggy. We have drone footage showing the size of the KOD demonstration. You, in return, posted footage of some people walking along Nowy Swiat - which means nothing when there's almost identical footage from the KOD demonstration the day before.

It's pretty obvious that the KOD demonstration in Warsaw last weekend was significantly bigger than the PiS one the next day, and it's also pretty obvious that the streets will be ours on Saturday.

And another one!

Tarnów - Rynek

Demonstrations on Saturday will be from West to East, North to South - all in the name of defending Polish democracy against this government and Duda.

Law / Drinking in a parked car. What the Poland's law says? [24]

But here is a question, If you own a camper van in poland, and drink in it, do the same laws apply as that for a car?

I *think* yes, but I'm not 100% certain. But as the laws require you to have actually driven the vehicle, it seems that they would struggle for a conviction in this case. I'm guessing that if you were caught on the sauce in a public car park, they'd have you - but if you were clearly parked up for the night somewhere that wasn't public, probably not.

Of course, those that want to see how many ordinary citizens turned out last week in Warsaw would be well advised to check this out :

Anyone that isn't a pro-government supporter can clearly see for themselves that this was a significant demonstration against the government.
