Love / Polish Girl Doesn't Want To Touch. [240]

Southern, you don't live here so you can't make that call. I just don't see what you see. They like to cut loose into the later hours but who doesn't?

UK, Ireland / Common pitfalls for Poles learning English [187]

Have you got is also for rhythm but Teffle did put it ever so well :)

Other pitfalls? Ordinals and cardinals :) This should be nailed early days but isn't.

History / No Nazi puppet regime in Poland? [45]

Torq, what does the Christ of Nations mean? I mean, I follow the English but maybe not the intention.

Life / Alcohol problems of Polish people [141]

It depends on the line of work they are in. Vodka was a social problem many years ago but Poles have learned to temper it and enjoy it at the right time.

USA, Canada / Moved back from Canada to Poland:). Here are the reasons why. [868]

I'm waiting for the 'Moved back from Poland to Canada :) Here are the reasons why' thread ;)

At least people don't barge into your house here like they do in Canada. They just invite themselves in and start raiding the fridge, I've heard.

Inversion lessons are highly useful. I occasionally teach them and they serve a useful purpose. There are many pitfalls contained within. Poles often don't invert the auxiliary.

Food / No Vernor's ginger ale in Poland? [29]

LOL :) Have you tried British ales, pawian? I adore many. I'm not just saying that because I'm British but many are well worth paying extra money for.

Canada Dry is good but I'm drinking the real deal. Young's Special London Ale. I didn't realise til I saw the bill, 13PLN for 0.5PLN, ouch. Still, it's a class act!

News / The Polish government has announced a potential VAT rise from 22% to 23%. [19]

No no no. I meant the IMF Belka route will cripple Poland in the future. The consumption tax will encourage people to be more responsible, like in Japan. They have an income tax rate of 6% but a federal tax of 5% which means that you control the level of tax you pay.

UK, Ireland / Interest in Polish language grows in Britain [19]

Knowing the British, really? I don't think paranoia is high on the list of national traits there. There is interest but the problem is that people get so caught up in money matters that they lose sight of reality. My mother said that she has asked around but the going rates are astronomical. Lower prices and business will come.

Travel / Rumour Control: Wizz Air pulling out of Warsaw? [5]

It would be incredibly short sighted, that's for sure. There are a few companies going under, e.g Select Tours and Orbis being but 2. Airlines should start thinking about their passengers as they can easily cover operational costs.

Zeti, no. You cannot mix the tenses as you asked. He had had too much to drink before he died. That's the idea of the p.p.s, to show the connection between two past actions though we seldom use it as a tense.

£yżeczki = teaspoons

We just say 2 sugars, please. This is true whether it be cubes or teaspoons.

Life / Alcohol problems of Polish people [141]

Well said by Pawian :) :) My wife smokes a lot because she wants to. I don't smoke now because I don't want to. It's about willpower and choice :)

I didn't drink for a long time because I had a cold and there was no sense. Still, I like a swalley on the bevvy but, like Pawian, it is all controlled and harm's no-one.
