Genealogy / Great Grandfather - Leon Kulikowski - was shot by Bolsheviks in 1919 [4]

Yes, Olchowiec is presently a village in Ukraine - the Lviv region.
It's a pity, that's no full article available, maybe we could find something else in there - here are mainly described some struggles with the Bolsheviks. I think that one of the most desirable information for now would be his place of birth.

I know, not much help so far.

Genealogy / Surname origins of Kantynowna [3]

Kantynowna

The suffix owna (ówna in Polish) suggest a woman maiden name in Poland.
The base name Kantyn + the ending. (Check this thread also.)
If the Kantyn name exist in Poland then it's rather extremely rare, similar with Kantyna, although the Kanty name is quite known in Poland.

History / Location of Radwau (town in Poland) and its church? [14]

There are also three villages in Poland with the name Radwan...

And in the 19th century today's Radwanice town was called in German "Dorf des Radwan" - the village of Radwan literally.

Work / Earn $6800 a month in Warsaw? Job scams in Poland. [11]

Those typical jobs from home I always associated with a scam. There are ads, that people can gain great money just by pens folding or sticking stamps on letters, but I don't know anybody who could confirm this. I'm not denying that such good companies exist, but I think they are in minority. I'm sure I wouldn't give out some sensible data without first insight about such company.

Law / Schengen Visa Sponsored by Polish Citizen - for no less than three months [4]

Officially you need to have at least 100PLN per day during your travel in Poland. The possession of those funds needs to be proven. Covering the amount of money by just one transfer and in addition, at the last moment may raise doubts. I don't see however anywhere that one time payment is not allowed. But even if you receive a visa, you will be at the mercy of border guard officials. Someone may be so meticulous and unwilling that finally your entry will be refused. But that's just only my guessing, and this will be enough. Generally an entry to Poland with the intention to travel shouldn't be a problem when your application is fine, the total amount of funds is correct and extra useful papers are present - official affidavit of support and appointment letter.

The regular Schengen Visa (type C) is issued for up to 90 days. If your intention is staying longer in Poland, you should apply for the Poland's National Visa (Individual Country) - type D.

Genealogy / Zawadynski - herb. Rawicz / Rawa and herb. Dolega [26]

Zawadinsky surname was probably misspeled in the past - Polish name could be Zawadzinski or more likely Zawadziński. However you mentioned about the Rawicz coat of arms - I'm not an expert, but I don't see such name there - the nearest to it seems to be Zawadowski and Zawada.

Law / Can I obtain my mothers Polish passport record online? [2]

As far I know it is not possible to obtain such data online. I think the best you can do now is to call a Polish consulate in your country and tell them your case.

Since your both parents were born in Poland you should not have much problem with citizenship, although paperwork issues may cause some trouble.

Life / Poland Boxing Discussions [10]

My thoughts are similar. Fonfara is a great warrior, and have pretty decent skills, good physical conditions, chin, and big power in hands, but I'm afraid if he meet with Kovalev he will lose (after a good battle - as it was against Stevenson). However he has his chances when boxing with WBA Champion - Jurgen Brahmer - here is the best possibility to win the belt. Although Fonfara doesn't pick easy fights - he wants the greatest challenges, and I wish him luck!

Genealogy / Hammerschmidt / Lachera - where my Great Grandmothers side of the family originated from? [2]

Hammerschmidt sounds of course like typical German name, however the Gah name could be Polish if spelled 'Gach' - currently more than 2000 people have this name in Poland. The 'h' letter is pronounced the same like the 'ch' in Polish, and rather rarely the 'h' alone is at the end of a word.

Presently almost 100 persons with Lachera name in Poland:

Life / "BIESIADA BEZ GRANIC" - can someone tell me what this is all about? Poland's songs video. [6]

The idea of "Biesiada Bez Granic" (Feast without borders) was to recall the songs and instrumental compositions known as the most popular melodies of the world. The Polish artists perform dynamic and dance music originating from different corners of the world, the hits that found a home for good in the Polish culture.

Life / Playgroups for toddlers and preschoolers in Wroclaw, Warsaw, Rzeszow [10]

Playground at Odyńca Street in Warsaw (close to Niepodległości) - Mokotow district.
There are: spiderweb from ropes, slides, swings, etc. Also cycle route, table football, basketball court and volleyball.
Next to it is an amphitheater where in summer are shows for children. Couple of restaurants with gardens: Vegetarian, Turkish, pizza and ice cream parlor. Nearby metro station. Unfortunately, at this playground is strong sunlight on hot days.

Quite close to this is the playground at Pala Telekiego 8. Very good one - it's a place divided for the youngest and the little older children - two zones. There is a big "palace" for fun, where you can climb, slide down, or play knights and princesses. Another attraction is a small sailboat, on which kids can have nice time. The Square is adjacent to the new kindergarten. In addition to the mandatory swings and slides here are also the sandpits and tables to play.

Playground Pala Telekiego

In Warsaw's Ursynów district at Kabaty is a large, modern playground with a lot of different activities for children. It is part of a well-kept 'Przy Bażantarni' park, located next to Kasztanowa Alley. The square is divided into three zones. First designed primarily for tiny tots who can use the swings, including those with backrest, there are cottages with obstacles, slides and sandboxes of course. Right beside is the place for older children. It offers them a tall tower with twisting slide, climbing metal device with a long, straight slide, there are also strange colorful balls resembling atoms that probably only children know what they are for. The third zone is a rope construction, for all those who like to climb. Here, instead of tartan ground is sand.

Unfortunately it's also not great place in hot, sunny days - almost no shadow, and mostly metal devices are the trouble then. Apart from this it's a recommended place with convenient access by metro.

Playground Przy Bazanciarni

Very large, modern playground is located in the beautiful and highly neat Żeromski Park on the Wilson Square. This place is probably a classic among Warsaw parents. In addition to cabins with slides, swings and carousels it offers eg. a tube telephone where kids can communicate at a quite distance. On the playground you can also go for a walk and explore the fort in the Żeromski Park.

Playground Plac Wilsona

The so-called Kepa Potocka is a very attractive place itself, recently enriched in two quite new playgrounds, (with sports attractions mainly). Instead of tartan the sand is used here, so your kids will not even have to look around for a sandpit. There is a huge sandpit, big house with a giant slide in the shape of a tube, large and small spiders to climb and slide on the rope. Right next is a smaller plaza designed for kids, and it has, among other things: trampoline to jump, hammock and cottage with obstacles.

Kepa Potocka

Olkówek playground is one of the few almost completely wooden playgrounds, prehistoric themed. Located on the Wiolinowa in the old part of Ursynów. The square is fenced and divided into a section for babies and older children. Among the attractions you will find a big wooden dinosaurs, on which children can climb from each side and then the tail, which is also a slide. There are also swings, climbing cobwebs, separate place to play twister or noughts and crosses and many others. The biggest joy for the youngest is digging up buried in a huge sandbox dinosaur remains and hiding in shell eggs.

Olkówek

Hasanka playground - probably one of the biggest and extremely nice playgrounds in Warsaw. It has many areas for children of different ages. It is fairly new, not too busy, as eg. the plaza on Wilson Square. The whole area is not only a big playground, but also a lot activities for the elderly there - eg. triple, fenced basketball court, outdoor gym, climbing wall and probably the biggest construction rope for climbing in the capital.

Location: Ursus, Wojciechowskiego/Orląt Lwowskich, Warsaw

Hasanka

On the right side of Warsaw is new Balaton Park in Gocław, at Abrahama Street - medium sized playground with the ships theme, which makes sense especially since there's lake near (beware the mosquitos), where you can also swim pedal boats. The youngest can have fun eg. by the sand pouring plant, equipped with buckets, or cottage with fun activities. Definitely there is a lack of special swings with backrest for toddlers. A little older can climb the rope spiders, on one of the ships, jump on the trampoline or turn on a rotating platform.

Balaton Park

The playground on Barcelońska 9 is one of the newest playgrounds located in the southern part of Warsaw. An extremely long rope structures are connected together and obstacle courses for children. This place is marked by sport, so there are a lot of gymnastic equipment for children, basketball court, couple table tennis boards but also free tennis court. It is a true paradise for children, where they can let off steam at pleasure.

This square is still upgraded.

Barcelonska

Playground at Fort Bema is located in Bemowo. It is now the largest playground in Warsaw and one of the largest in Europe. And in fact the area is very large and interestingly its architecture refers to the nearby fort. The place is divided into several zones. The first zone with lots of play is well equipped for older children. Zone for the youngest is completely fenced in a low, metal fence and closed with a gate, so you can easily keep an eye on your little ones. There are roofed cottages, where they can hide, swings on the sprung in the shape of animals and a large sandpit.

Law / Right to Information Act in Poland [2]

Does the law allows Polish citizens to file RTI against "Urząd do Spraw Cudzoziemców" ?

Yes, you can file a complain against any Poland's office, or even against the President.

In your case you may also challenge the decision which was made - was it the Chief's of the Foreigners Office verdict? Look at this quote:

Appeals procedure

A foreigner dissatisfied with a decision made by the Voivode has the right to appeal against it to the Director of the Office for Foreigners in Warsaw. The written appeal must be submitted within 14 days of receipt of the decision in question.

A foreigner may also challenge the decision of the Director of the Office for Foreigners in administrative court within 30 days of receipt of the relevant decision.

Note: challenging the decision in administrative court does not legalise the stay. This means that a foreigner who does not have another valid document authorizing the stay in Poland must leave the country.

migrant info pl/temporary-residence-permit-for-family-members-of-a-foreigner-residing-in-poland.html

So several such cases was made by the aggrieved foreigners. But it would be better if you reach for advise from a good lawyer first. Additionally you have to be aware of the costs of such appeal - it's more than 300PLN.

When you want anyway to do this on your own, such documents are required to filling the complain:
- the name of the court to which it is addressed, first name and surname or name the parties, their representatives and proxies,
- indication of the contested decision, court order, any other act or actions,
- name of the authority, of which that complaint concerns,
- determination of violation of law or legal interest,
- enumerate attachments,
- signature
(According to: bip.krakow.wsa.gov.pl/59/173/informacje-dodatkowe.html)

The complaint shall be submitted to voivodeship administrative court through the authority whose action or inaction is the subject of the complaint. Of course the case is conducted in Polish.

Life / Poland's Alior Bank reviews / ING / Millenium [26]

You should ask them about it, I'm not sure 100% but it seems, you would not have to pay the fee for the debit card if the amount of transactions monthly on this card would be more than 300 PLN.

I have it for free in Bank Zachodni, but I have only two types of ATM's where I can withdraw my money for free (B.Zachodni & PKO), for the rest I need to pay 5 PLN every time..

Life / Poland's Alior Bank reviews / ING / Millenium [26]

@monde - it's not the fee per month - it is the amount you need to use with your credit card monthly to not pay the fee for it. And it's actually 200 PLN as I see.

ING credit card minimum per month is now 300PLN I was told

I see on their fee chart, that it is 200PLN for a private individual

35PLN fee every month

Sorry, it was my mistake, the fee is 35PLN per year

Check it yourself here - go to 'karty kredytowe' (credit cards) and 'karta debetowa' (debit card)

Life / Poland's Alior Bank reviews / ING / Millenium [26]

The fee for debit card in ING is 0 or 7 PLN, I think it depends on the account type, but usually it should be free.
Credit card (VISA) - free if average monthly payment with this credit card is more than 200PLN, if less than that - the fee is 35PLN for a month then (the average is calculated for an annual period divided by 12 months)

I don't know however the fees for the transfer money abroad - it depends mostly on the particular country and a destination bank. Ask somebody on the place - the fee may be high though and the different options for sending $$$ may be worth to consider.

Life / Polish Card Games? Goła / Snap. [16]

I don't think this game is known in Poland, couldn't find any equivalent Polish names for it.
What's comes to my mind as another very simple game, played by children - and this one is quite popular in Poland - is the "War" card game - "Wojna" Polish name.

But sorry, no Snap or Slapjack..

Language / Przypadki (Polish language cases) [59]

Czy pamiętasz mojego brata?

Czy pamiętasz naszego brata?

Czy pamiętasz twojego brata?

Only these are correct.

Additionally:
Czy pamiętasz o moim bracie?
Czy pamiętasz o naszym bracie?
Czy pamiętasz o twoim bracie?

Czy pamiętasz moją siostrę?
Czy pamiętasz o mojej siostrze?

Instead of twojego brata, o twoim bracie, I would use swojego brata, o swoim bracie, although both are correct
