Law / Driver license: Moroccan/UAE into Polish exchange / convention. Zameldowanie (residence registration) [13]

- copy of the original driving license and its translation made by an authorized translator

Add to that;

- The translation of your license has to be attested, first by Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MSZ) and then the embassy of the country that issued the license (in your case Morocco). So unfortunately you will need to make a trip or two to Warsaw or send your papers to someone in Warsaw to do it on your behalf. MSZ will attest on the spot and will charge (if I recall correctly) PLN 25 per document which you can pay in cash only at a cashier's office located in the same building. I don't know how long the Moroccan Embassy will take, how much they will charge and by what means you can pay them. Better call them and ask.

- Zameldowanie (registration of your place of residence). Usually you can get this document from the same office where you apply for the driving license. It has to be recent (not sure how recent, but not older than 30 days or 90 days max).

- Rest assured, nobody speaks English in these offices usually. If you don't speak Polish then go with someone that speaks Polish.

- When a Polish license is issued to you, they will take your Moroccan license before they hand over your Polish one. Some people feel inclined to argue against this, but there is no point since this is the law in Poland. They will supposedly send your Moroccan license to the Moroccan Embassy with a request to send it to the office that issued it back in Morocco. Nobody that I know ever saw their original driving license after it was taken by licensing offices in Poland. So you might as well apply for a replacement of lost license next time you visit Morocco if it is important to you.

After applying, you will need to wait for a while because they will write to the Polish embassy in Morocco and wait for their response. It will take several weeks or months even.

News / Does democratic Poland guarantee it's LGBT citizens respect for human and civil rights? [1169]

@Polonius3; how does this relate to the subject? Also, since when did parents decide the school curriculum of their kids? I thought there was a ministry of education with experts that decide that kind of thing. Anyone with a healthy reproductive system can have kids, but that doesn't make them experts on education now does it?

Law / Car insurance cost for old used car in Poland (OC) [17]

engine capacity

If I remember correctly, in Poland the biggest step in Insurance cost comes at a threshold engine size of 1.6 L. Don't quote me on this though, I could be wrong.

News / Does democratic Poland guarantee it's LGBT citizens respect for human and civil rights? [1169]

@Polonius3;

I quote from the site you linked:
"Anal sex is a prevalent sexual practice among both MSM and heterosexuals"

Also, it doesn't not say anywhere that any of the diseases discussed are "gay-specific" nor does it say any disease is more prevalent amongst homosexuals.

How does this relate to LGBT rights in Poland?

pro-family groups are immediatley dismissed by pro-homo nutters

While this statement is very offensive, it has to be said that pro-family and anti-homsexual are not that same, and are not mutually inclusive.

In fact, none of the people that I know in Poland who identify themselves as "pro-family" are anti-homosexual. Being anti-homsexual is (in my opinion) the same as being anti-family because every homosexual person is someone's son/daughter or brother/sister or aunt/uncle, and in many cases someone's mom or dad.

Life / 500zl banknote returns to Poland [10]

This is good news for those who carry a lot of cash. I like your 499,95 example. Either last weekend or the one before I was at a cemetery, and I went to the candle/flower vendor at the entrance to buy a couple of candles. Some person was there, asking for 1 candle worth 1,50 zl and holding a 200 zl note in her hand. I could practically see the steam coming from the vendor's ears... Now make that a 500 note :)

USA, Canada / Notarized note required for US travel with child born in Poland and holding American passport. [7]

His American passport will not be a problem upon return because Americans are entitled to visa free entry to Poland. Him having one Polish parent entitles him to stay in Poland for as long as he wants, but you should take care of some paperwork - perhaps a Polish birth certificate since he was born in Poland to prove that he is Polish as well.

I assume his dad is not travelling and that is why you ask this question.

Regarding the notarized note, in Poland specifically, I never heard of it and nobody that I know heard of it (I am talking about mixed nationality couples). And I travel a lot, quite often with a small child. Since he is leaving Poland with you and you both have American passports I don't think you'll have a problem. If you are still worried, have your husband come with you to the airport and if they say anything tell them the father is physically present and they can ask him.

However in one incident, it happened to my wife when she was flying out of Dubai, UAE, together with my son who was was 9 months old. They asked her to prove she is his mother because they have different last names. Well, as a part of the documents we ALWAYS carry when we travel, we have his birth certificate and our marriage certificate. So she showed them his birth certificate and they said thank you, have a nice trip.

Some countries require notarized & attested written permission from a child's father (by law) in order to allow the mother or other relatives to take the child out of the country. I know for example that Syria applies such a law.

News / Poland Parliamentary elections 2015 [1060]

PiS does not represent "typical Polish values", unless they include being xenophobic, sexist and obsessively paranoid. Nobody in Poland considers these "typical Polish values."

Looks like things are turning slowly. Now PO is catching up with PiS according to latest polls by Ibris, and Kukiz is slipping.

News / Pope Francis' anti-Polish encyclical? Criticism of coal burning in Poland. [67]

The problem is just the bad management

I would say bad management is 90% of the problem, but it is not only bad management.
There is still a lot of coal, sure, but there are two problems with this remaining coal;
1. It is now very deep underground - the cost of digging all the way down there and bringing it up makes is uncompetitive. I mentioned elsewhere that Russian coal today in Poland costs less to buy (including shipping and customs) than Polish coal costs by the time it reaches the surface.

2. The remaining Polish coal is low grade lignite of poor calorific value in comparison to other European coals. Which makes its higher extraction cost even more damning.

News / Does democratic Poland guarantee it's LGBT citizens respect for human and civil rights? [1169]

@Polonius3;
Regarding that 2/3 majority, until the people's representatives smarten up, the Polish State will keep losing legal challenges at the European Court of Human Rights pertaining to the right of same-sex couples (that have legally recognized marriages in other EU countries) to have their marriages recognized in Poland - together with the compensation that will have to be paid from Polish taxpayers money. If you are happy spending taxpayers money that way, well, what can I say?

You and I can speculate indefinitely about how Polish people feel about this. You know plenty that are against and I know plenty that are with. Historic patterns show that the percentage of people who are for is increasing. Look at how things changed in Ireland for example. Rest assured Poland will follow.

the official teaching of the RCC

In case you didn't notice, the forum is about Poland and the thread is about LGBT rights in Poland. There are plenty of RC forums out there for you to breach where I am sure you will find a more pleasant audience than us, the liberal ilk.

Polsyr is right, off-topic content, not connected with Poland, will be binned

The natural evolution of nations and societies is birth, growth and collapse

No it is not only that. Social structure changes with time. Human beings have gotten smarter and have invented machines to help them accomplish things. In the process, the birth rate has fallen and that is natural and necessary because we are overpopulating this planet, polluting it and depleting its resources. Nothing you said is relevant to the topic or Poland whatsoever. You are copying and pasting from somewhere without addressing the actual issue.

I repeat what I said before;

the day someone imposes their values upon you personally in Poland you can complain to your local court, upgrade to a Regional Court, then a Supreme Court then finally the European Court of Human Rights

Now answer this please.

Polonius3, reality check, the day someone imposes their values upon you personally in Poland you can complain to your local court, upgrade to a Regional Court, then a Supreme Court then finally the European Court of Human Rights - and I am quite confident they won't allow anyone to force you to follow any belief system unless it is your own belief system.

And while you are freaking out about a possibility that will never happen, the so called 1.5% or 2% you keep throwing around here have in fact had their basic human rights violated - for centuries - because of paranoid people like you and sick leadership figures that gain their power exclusively from the fears & paranoias of followers like you, and I am talking about political, social and religious leadership.

Whether you like it or not doesn't change anything. Poland is changing and Polish law will one day guarantee equal rights to all citizens, and that will happen regardless of what you think, regardless of what you blindly copy and paste on the web, and more importantly regardless of who is in power. It is natural evolution of societies, plus it will become a non-negotiable requirement to remain in the European Union. Nobody cares if you like the EU or not, Poland is a part of the EU and you will never be able to change that.

News / Pope Francis' anti-Polish encyclical? Criticism of coal burning in Poland. [67]

To me everyone that promotes a cleaner way of life deserves credit, be it the Pope or Pamela Anderson.

Here is a news story related to the subject of Polish coal.

thenews.pl/1/12/Artykul/211133,Coal-sector-in-a-hole

"Even the worst coal mines in the US are three times more productive than the average productivity of Polish coal mines," according to a report into Polish mining by the Warsaw Institute of Economics (WISE)"

This is to help people understand why the Polish coal mining industry is basically on its final breaths. It is not only bad management. It is no longer possible to extract coal economically from the mines in Poland because they have mined past the point of feasibility.

Food / Food shop of choice in Poland for foreign nosh? [22]

Doug I never got "bad" stuff from Lidl in terms of food. The stuff they present during these special weeks is exactly what they claim it is. I got some Italian desserts during Italian week and everything was excellent. I tried the Parma ham and it was very good, if not top shelf then pretty close. I just stocked up on Czech beer from there earlier today by the way :)
