Life / Should Poland Introduce a Thanksgiving Day? [24]

Christmas used to be a loud rowdy dangerous holiday the whole idea of it as quiet time with family was the upper classes trying to keep the lower classes in check.

interesting!!
right that is it I am going to get raucous this Christmas...

In Austria they have an even scarier tradition with Krampus....is there anything like that in Poland?

none of them seems to know how to cook so they are forced to live on restaurants which clouds their judgement on cost of living.

that is because they are men who have been spoilt, whereas I am a woman and know how to cook and live economically..:):)

Nojas I really have no idea, I just know you are on a hiding to nothing...:):)

So if a school offered say, 4000 and shared flat... would that be doable for a single person with no dependents who has other means of saving?

They meant no harm, I bet.

lol thanks, no I didn't, I was just remembering how my Polish x brother in law used to go on, we do impressions of him in our house when we are bored, 'w dupie kurwa' in a high pitched whine...

Also he would say 'nie?' at the end of every sentence which did grate after a while...

Anyway he has been deported now...or rather detained at Calais on the way back in...what a pity..

Work / Native English looking for a teaching job in Poland [135]

ye dirk is right, private schools do not insist on the BA, things might have changed now but when i was teaching in Poland imagine my disgust to find that my senior teacher had no TEFL cert and no bachelors. Ridiculous.

UK, Ireland / Polish career criminal gets six years for rape [43]

Lobotomize them - they can still work in MacDonalds or Pound World.

thats so horrible i am surprised at you.
people working in those places do not deserve to be compared to lobotomized criminals do they?
Lobotomy isnt particularly funny either, that is why it is no longer carried out.

News / How will BREXIT affect the immigrants in UK and Poland. [1114]

Yes, this did not start in 2015, it goes back at least 5 or so years before that.

and the rest- I was working with illegals in Greece 20 odd years ago.
Invariably they had come in by sea.

water barrier is not difficult to control given today's technology.

have a look at the map Iron., Greece has no money so not sure how they would pay for this 'technology' (if it exists) and manpower.

it's called a 'porous border', always has been.
Italy is similar but less extreme.

Love / The age of consent in Poland is only 15 [147]

even then high school seniors don't date 15 year old freshman

no they dont. My son and his peers are aged 17/ 18/ 19 and they have nothing good to say bout one of their number who is "dating" a 15 year old.

I think the words used were 'f***ng paedophile'
