News / Demonstrations in Poland in defence of democracy. [2554]

As a foreign investor the current instability in Poland is not all bad.

Spoken like a true capitalist. Be careful, Glorious Leader & Chairman will have his hounds hunting you.

Life / Are there January Sales in Poland? [7]

Yea there are sales in the shopping centres.
things like Xboxs though don't really change in price.

I recommend using ceneo.pl to find a good deal. It's a price comparison website and it'll search through.
And personally, get the 1TB version. Games like GTA, the Witcher are like 60GB now, so you won't be long filling up on the standard 500GB version.

Work / What salary can be asked at IBM Poland? [67]

11500 gross is more than 2000 EUR net.

Yea, I know. It's pretty basic.
The average wage in Katowice is roughly 5000zl per month (salaryexplorer.com/salary-survey.php?loc=2005&loctype=3), so what this guy is going to get is exactly that, average.

He will most certainly earn more than 2000E if he was doing the same job in Ireland, Germany etc.
Man, you can work in Tesco in Ireland and earn 1800E per month, so just imagine who much an IBM pro would earn :)

the cost of living in PL is considerably lower than in Germany not to mention France or UK

Not really, things like food and drink and utilities are cheap. But clothes, petrol are far more expensive here when you think about purchasing power.

Y'know, the more I think about this the more I'd be convinced not to come to Katowice on such a wage, especially since it appears that it will have to support 2 people.

Work / What salary can be asked at IBM Poland? [67]

11500k PLN

That's Gross, so that's before you pay that hefty slive of tax to those bozos in Warsaw

[****************** PLN net[/quote]
Of course it's possible to live on that for 2 people, of course it is. But would you move half way around the world and settle for that when you can earn, 3, or 4 or 5 times that in Ireland, France, Germany or the UK?

#It's a great wage if your single and living alone, with someone depending on you it's not so great. It's OK, just not anything fantastic becasue it's pretty much what a professional couple in Katowice would be earning anyway.

Yea, it's OK, nothing wonderful but it's OK.
I hope though that it's only for supporting you, if you're going to try to support a family on that you will struggle.

News / Poland to end state funding for IVF treatment [102]

It's also ruling out Mr and Mrs average couple too though Smurf, only the wealthy would be able to afford private treatment.

I don't think so, like, most families where both people are working would be able to afford a loan for one and maybe two treatments.

I know I'd give it a go for sure. More to life than money.

Life / Inappropriately Touching a Baby - What are the cultural Norms in Poland? [12]

little kisses right on the baby's Penis!!!

I would have ended his life right then and there if that was one of my boys. No questions asked and you'd even probably get away with it in court with a plea of temporary insanity becasue of what he did. Or the charge would be put down to manslaughter and you'd be given a suspended sentence.

News / Poland to end state funding for IVF treatment [102]

However as the IVF treatment is not curing infertility

But if you have IVF treatment then you don't need a cure. And anyway, there isn't one cure for infertility, it's not like it's a stomach ulcer y'know.

Although I'll be honest, I think maybe in the long term it is better than IVF treatment will only be private, means less poor people having kids and that's always a good thing.......from an socio-economic point of view of course. Of course it sucks for the individuals, but y'know there's always bank loans and wonga if you really, really wanna have a rugrat.........or Ukrainian surrogates. They're as cheap as chips and glad for the money.

News / Poland to end state funding for IVF treatment [102]

I think that the state funding of IVF and the 500zl Incentive is a great idea

But they're stopped state funding for it. It's gone, you need to do it privately now.

Very few families will get the full 500zl I reckon. BOth parents will need to be unemployed or something silly like that. A family with 2 working parents will probably get feck all.

The banking tax is a great idea

No, it's a very, very stupid, shirt-sighted idea. And it's already having an effect. The banks will simply pass on the cost of that tax on their customers, making it more expensive to use banks in Poland. Nobody wins when regressive taxes come into play. It's the same with the foreign-owned supermarkets.....so in Poland, that's all of them.....well, they're just going to charge us more for our shopping.

They have a monopoly on virgin births.

The Egyptians won't like that ;)

Maybe they've got a touch of class

So it's a 'touch of class' to be secretive about your sexuality? No wonder you like Jaroslaw so much :D

How strange is it (and perhaps a bit of a double-standard mode) that UK taxpayers can fund child benefit for those whose children reside in Poland.

That's Poland mi amiga

Did you know Trybunał Konstytucyjny (Constitutional Court) ruled in the past that a raped woman can't get an abortion, arguing that a pregnant woman is a family and a family should be protected ?

Jesus!

Another reason why PiS Poland is against in vitro is that it technically lets a virgin to give birth (cesarean birth).

What's the problem with that?

You can love Poland or leave Poland.

That in the metro of 3 million people :)))))

There's no metro in Katowice, is that what you're talking about?
There's a metro line in Warsaw.
Do you have something to add that's on topic or are you just going to continue to troll?

Good mix of people at the Katowice demo. You and old, although probably it was mostly people aged 40 and over.

Pretty pathetic that some idiot would call in a bomb threat in Warsaw. Just goes to show how utterly sad and pathetic those against democracy really are.

The response was already released.

Thanks for being so helpful and post it :)

Slovaks

"The Slovak side is following the situation in Poland very closely."

In other words.....we're waiting, but by Jebus, we're Pi$sed off.

There hasn't really been anything from NATO. So we'll wait and see. Maybe they'll pull out of the event Warsaw was due to hold during the summer.

News / Demonstrations in Poland in defence of democracy. [2554]

Katowice : Urząd Wojewódzki in Katowice.

Expecting a big crowd in Katowice tomorrow. Pretty much all of my Polish friends are going, ages ranging from 22-65. There's about 20 of us meeting there. Looking forward to it. Met some of them today for lunch and they were almost frothing at the mouth of what that dingbat Macierewicz did last night. I'm looking forward to seeing the NATO and Slovak response in the coming days.

Any normal country and he'd be fired by his PM straight away. But....well.....y'know XD

BTW isn't it better to insult outsiders meddling in Polish affairs and their paid Polish stooges than insulting the democratically elected government of Poland formed by the country's only truly pro-Polish political camp.

Why do you have to result to insulting at all?
Why not be civil? Why are the right wing so aggressive?

I don't think some of them appreciate how many of us have taken citizenship...

They sure don't Jon

Another "expat" foreigner without voting rights generating "support of Polish people for protesters"

I'm not an expat.
I have voting rights, na-na.

And here's the Facebook page for KOD: facebook.com/KomitetObronyDemokracji

Thanks Harry.

Sorry, I'd add it to the same post, but the editing time has run out.

Suggesting: get rid of that?

News / Reactions of Poles to Negative Publicity from the Foreign Press [56]

PiS managed to pi$$ off their own voters lol My mum had a field day and was saying to them - "You wanted 'order' by PiS and you have 'order'" ;)

Hahaha, good one your Mum, that's a lovelt, funny story :)

It's important that they do.

+1

they will take over the public media.

+1

Kaczyński is the puppeteer.

Paulina, I can't believe it, but the day has come where we are in total agreement with everything.......maybe some planets or stars all aligned today or something???

I totally agree though with what you've written. And I'm delighted that PiS and their supported are Pi$sed off with the negative coverage they are getting. It is deserved and they fact is they cannot handle the truth.

News / Monthly Smolensk Commemorations in Poland! [34]

I must say monthly commemorations sounds a bit over the top. Are they actually proposing that?

It's not proposed, it's happening! What times we live in! What times!

they've got separatist tendencies

Maybe it'll bring them together. I can have a word with the Ruch Silesia. Surely they'll change their want-away minds if they get a free trip to the nation's capital and gaze upon the wonders Warsaw has to offer? Maybe I'm bring too optimistic and I'm getting caught up in a whirlwind of emotion here!

I need to sit down and get a strong drink.
Lech beer will make a killing though, their profits will fly into the sky. We mustn't let them crash.

Not Off Topic, it's very much on topic.

Censorship or what eh?

News / Monthly Smolensk Commemorations in Poland! [34]

Well, every morning at 8.41, we could play patriotic clips and the national anthem along with pictures of Lech Kaczyński, and make it obligatory viewing in classrooms, in prisons and other places.

Excellent Delph, the ball is rolling now........

I left out the mountain people, we need those guys & girls in their awesome outfits. Maybe get some fiddles going and some dancing too....but sombre stuff y'know. Fun will not be tolerated.

News / Monthly Smolensk Commemorations in Poland! [34]

So then, what should we do as Poles, citizens of Poland and foreigners to commemorate this dreadful event every month?

Personally I think that marches are not enough. I think full military parades, the whole feckin hog baby. The army, the navy, the secret service, the mountain rescue teams, cops, straz, and puppies in military clothes. Parades like this every month. Priests and alter boys too, you can never have enough priests. Nuns can feck off though, nuns are feckin weird.

Maybe also we should crash a new plane every month and every month we'll draw lots in the Sejm and whoever gets the shortest one will have to pilot the plane. But y'know to be nice, Chairman Jarek should be first.

Oh we need the mohair berets involved too......hmmm.....let me see, maybe they can help with dual roles, firstly they could stand around stinking of wee wee and singing mad songs and they could also organise bake sales, y'know, if we're gonna crash a plane every month we've gonna need dinero and through the sale of their lovely cakes and buns Poland will easily be able to afford it.

What suggestions my good friends and frenemies of Polish forums, how can we help PiS in their propaganda war?
