Food / Where can I get the spreader/rake for making crepes & pancakes in Poland? [15]

Don't worry, Gazeta Polska, Radio Marya and PiS will get mentioned somewhere in this thread, won't be dull here for long!

I read a review for one crepe spreader. Someone wrote the spreader is too wide for their skillet so if you are making the crepes in a skillet, might want to be aware of that. You might need a griddle or a crepe pan to use a spreader.

I commend you on posting the most interesting topic. None other can compare! I did Google crepe spreader and found a ton of them for sale. Are you sure you cannot find one online and have it shipped. One was only $3.95. Of course, there's shipping involved. Are you looking for one to be shipped from a Polish company in Poland? I can see why. Less shipping costs that way. None of the ones I saw when I Googled are in Poland, though.

Good luck with your procurement!

News / British senior politician compares Poland to South Africa during apartheid [129]

English teams were banned from Europe for 5 years, so I can under stand why England wants to lecture other countries on their behavior.

Oh so that's it. *nods* Now I get it. Brits want the same for Poland. They are just bitter about that ban. It's not about ending racism. More about what's good for the goose is good for the gander.

I still have no idea why some people go absolutely rabid at these football games. I mean, it's just a game. It's not like it's the battle of the century ffs.

Pffft. In South Africa during apartheid, the black players wouldn't have been allowed to play with the whites. It's an exaggeration to claim Poland is anywhere near apartheid. Just because a few clowns make monkey chants does not equate with apartheid. It's in poor taste, yes, but Poland is not saying "you cannot play in our country."

Life / A new Poland's war - the poor vs the rich [81]

What rich people don't seem to understand is there are plenty of poor people who work harder than them yet where is the compensation? Why is the assumption rich people are the only ones who work yet poor people never do and are just seeking handouts while giving nothing in return. There is such a thing as working poor. Life is like a lottery. Many people will work hard and the lucky ones will become rich but not everyone will. So is it fair for those who do have the luck to hog all the profits?

According to that, ground energy still has some kinks but it could have potential. If it were feasible, I would use it if it meant being free of using electricity or natural gas to heat water and my house.

If they are hard working, then at t=0 they will start accumulating more wealth then the lazy ones, within our model.

How? The person doing the most menial labor is not going to be making the most money. It's the managers that make the most and not everyone can be a manager. Only a few because there aren't enough management positions. The managers and owners make the most money while the people who do the menial, hard labor get paid the least. That's the way the world works. This is what keeps people poor. It would be great if everyone did individual things so there was a big demand for everything they produced. This would be ideal in capitalism but it's not that way in real life. In real life, you got thousands of farmers growing corn all at the same time. Then there's so much corn, the price goes really low and they cannot make money. Then the government gets involved to save these struggling farmers. That is the situation in the real world.

News / Anty-Polish v column is located in White House [88]

I hate nobody, I dislike some people for their deeds or for their behaviour or for their post.

I misunderstood.

Fine, and those people should start with their home countries i.e. preach it there !

Don't worry. Plenty of people preach here, too. Probably more than preach at Poland.

Ditto
That is my point !
Why focus on Poland?

Wherever it exists, people should take the time to educate the ones who hate. Let them see that it's a waste to hate someone they don't know.

What made you think that I disagree with above ?

It was the impression just by how you answered. Made it sound like you are the one who hates Jews but I could have been under the wrong impression.

There are always people who hate or dislike others based on their ethnicity or religion, just as there are men who hate women and women who hate men. There are kids who hate parents and parents who hate kids. Some people hate you just because you have red hair or blond hair and blue eyes. Some people hate those afflicted with freckles ffs. But it's ridiculous to hate for superficial reasons. It's just ignorant stereotyping.

For your made in the USA mind, in place of Jews put Blacks or Mexican. Heck even Jews.
Plenty of people dislike those groups without knowing them.

There's no need to dislike them just because they are black, Jewish, Mexican, whatever. I disagree with illegal immigration but I do not hate someone just because they are Mexican or in the country illegally. In fact, I might even know a few but am unaware of their immigration status. What is most important is that people are nice and decent, not their nationality or ethnicity or religion.

Why would someone hate people they don't even know? If you dislike someone due to personality traits, that's fine. Maybe you knew someone who happens to be Jewish who harrassed you or caused trouble for you. It's understandable why you don't like such a person. It's silly to hate some abstract "Jew" just because they are Jews. You don't even know these people. Some of them could be the most wonderful people but you wouldn't know because you already made up your mind. You dislike complete strangers.

History / Why are Jews pestering Poland for "proper" WW2 monetary restitution/reparations? [750]

but they could have let in refugees during the war and they didn't, they could have bombed auschwitz and they didn't.

What they should have done is bomb the train tracks leading to the camps and they didn't. Many people bemoan that fact to this day We should have simply bombed the tracks.

Oh give me a break! Lazy? Hard working people are not lazy! The hardest working people are often the poorest. Quit stereotyping ffs and acknowledge that poor people work the hardest instead of rationalizing with lies.

President Obama doesn't appear anti Polish to me, either, but I do get the feeling this faux pas happened for a reason and that could be to raise the issue and further educate since Poland will be in the spotlight this June. I do think it might have been planned because the PR people behind public figures do know how to use the media to attract attention to issues and to get dialogues going. That is what they are trained to do, so they are not naive bumpkins who haven't got a clue how mass publication works.

I doubt there was any malice, intended, though. Just a way of pushing the issue into the spotlight again by making a "mistake."

It concerns the political future of Poland so it is part of the debate. Fundamental questions need asking.

News / A Second Look at Poland's Future. [21]

Is it possible for everyone to get rich just by working hard? Millions of people around the world work hard but few worldwide ever get rich from it. Is it really possible for everyone who wishes to be wealthy to become wealthy? These are challenges within the capitalstic system. Yes, we all want to work hard and be rewarded well, but is this really possible in the real world without hyper inflation? How is the government going to print enough money for everyone to acquire wealth. It simply isn't possible. It's not realistic. There will always be poor people no matter what.

News / Marion Barry insults Polish people calling them "Polacks" [33]

Every single one of the ethnic groups Barry mentions has slurs associated with it, yet he went with "Polack" alone. He could have just as easily said "Polish," since he used "Italian," "Jew," "Irish." That's a noteworthy insult to Poles everywhere!
