History / Warsaw Uprising - The Forgotten Soldiers [117]

Some Poles were worse than the Nazis.

For that reason the Germans were forced to build a huge wall around part of the town and employ a sentry. All in the vain attempt to protect the Jewish population from the Polish Jew-killers. Pro-Polish propaganda call this place a Warsaw Ghetto.

Here is the photo of this wall being build:

Unfortunately the angry Polish mob outside was so thirsty of a Jewish blood that Germans were forced to evacuate almost entire population of this "safety zone".

But that was exactly what the Poles hoped for. The Polish train drivers supposed to take the train full of Jews to the sunny beaches of southern France (as was the plan), instead turn straight to the famous Polish Concentration camp in Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Without noticing the Germans

Here is the photo of the Polish train driver. Please note the evil smile on his Jew-hating face:

History / The Untold Battle of Britain [205]

That's true! Britain really looked after many of those Polish pilots and they intermingled with many locals. I can't see where the moaning can come in.

I have got a strange feelings in my guts, that the sign "Poles go home!" on the nearest pub to the airfield, placed there right after the war ended might be a clue to answer this question. :-]

Genealogy / Jalowiecki coat of arms and title inheritance? [21]

I really appreciate your comments and help :)

Well... You're welcome.

Keep in mind that there is no place called Polish National Archive. It's just a figure of speech. In reality - in every major city there is archive where documents regarding this particular region are stored. Good source of information may be find in the church's books. (But some of them were burned down along with the churches and priests, of course) Be prepared for a rather lengthy and time-consuming process.

Visiting Poland is a good idea (Just avoid larger cities - go for something real instead), but in your situation it may be worth to pay somebody who would do all the work for you. I heard that there are some companies and organisations who are specialized in the field of archive research.

Anyway - good luck.

Genealogy / Jalowiecki coat of arms and title inheritance? [21]

1) The "hrabia" title - in Old Poland was forbidden by law as idea in opposition to the ideas of equality and golden freedom on which the Rzeczpospolita was build. Therefore most of the hrabia titles in Poland were granted by the foreign monarch (mostly Habsburgs) but never officially recognised in Polish law. In short - If you are looking for a confirmation of the title - Poland is definitely not a place you shall start your research.

2) The last assembly of Polish Parliament (Sejm) that was rightfully able to confirm the one's right to the crest was in the 1793. Sorry.
But - there is a chance that some documents on your family are still preserved in the Polish National Archives.

Genealogy / Jalowiecki coat of arms and title inheritance? [21]

Traditionally - the family crest was inherited from father to son only. Some purist still believe that this is how it shall be. But during the last 200 years some more relaxed views emerged.

Personally, I believe that every family crest is much more than a picture. It's tradition, way of life, certain way of mind-set. More responsibility than privilege.

UK, Ireland / Polish workers humiliated at the Laurens Patisseries - protest [45]

If you wish to support this action - feel free to drop them a letter:

Protest

I hereby protest against the decision made by the production management on the 11th of April 2010.

Forbidding polish personnel from honouring the tragically deceased in the plane crash near the city of Smolensk with a two-minute tribute may be considered as lack of compassion and an act of humiliation.

Therefore, in the act of solidarity with the employees I request the following:

1. a reasonable explanation to be given to the personnel
2. written apologies to be issued to all employees
3. a manager who caused such outcry to be held responsible for their decision

Yours Sincerely,

-----------------

Also - a formal complaint was filed

Life / Are Polish ppl capable of revolting? [41]

Because they would rather work than start
a civil war and fight - brother against brother?

I would never kill another Polish guy.
Germans, however are a kind of different story.
Or Russians - I wouldn't mind to kill one.
Civil war is just not a part of our tradition.
Even the martial law regime in the '80 was a kind of a joke.

History / Why are Jews pestering Poland for "proper" WW2 monetary restitution/reparations? [750]

(less the surplus left over from deducting the maintenance costs from the rent).

Exactly what I thought. Private ownership shall be considered a sanctity in Poland. It shall be returned.
Take under consideration some exploratory house in the Warsaw that was owned by some Jew before the war. It has got some real value now.

There are high probability that this house was leveled to the ground during the war. Poland's government rebuilt it after the war. Cost of this work shall be deducted from the final compensation. Also maintenance cost like the garbage removal, painting, de-frosting, taxes etc for the 63 years shall be deducted from the due amount. Basically - the Polish government cared for abandoned property and it would be unjust to presume that they did it for free.

On the other hand - they earn some money from the rent for the 63 years. This sum shall be added to the final sum of compensation.

Basically - somebody shall employ some calculator.

History / The heroic jump of the 1st Polish Independent Paratrooper Brigade [81]

jonni: as if they have a personal sense of grievance about things which occurred before any of them were born

In the year 2000 whole of my family include only 10 people. Including my uncle and cousins. The rest laid down on the unmarked graveyards somewhere in the Ukraine and Siberia. And yes - it was as an result of WW2. And yes - it's quite personal.

And situation of my family wasn't very uncommon.

News / Polish nightclub guard whacks off client's hand with saber [58]

Sadly it wasn't a sabre. I was a machete. Shock and shame!
How we possibly can be considered a civilized country if such a thing is exposed in the world media? Machete is a tool. There is no honor, no style, no form in it.

UK, Ireland / No job unless you're Polish [201]

Just a sad reminder:

Interesting story from page 10.
equalityhumanrights.com/uploaded_files/Inquiries/meat_inquiry_report.pdf

And of course - nobody was prosecuted in the effect of this report. Some "recommendations" were made. That's it.
Probably it a Polish worker's fault as well.

UK, Ireland / The Daily Mail - coverage of the Polish people [161]

Theories:

- Somewhere in the Poland are people who have got a tradition of eating swans. It's a mason-like secret organsation. That's why I've never heard of them.

(another variant - some people from exotic countries like Moldovia or Romania are mistaken for Polish.
- Poor immigrants from Poland are hungry. They catch swans to survive.
(not very convincing - the ducks are smaller and it would be much easier to prepare.)
- Someone for some reason hates the swans and hire Poles to clean the rivers.
(Daily Mail high on the list of suspects)

As for the anglers - I suppose it's all true.

they would have had a free, prosperous but most of all well respected country by now.

Or be dead altogether by now. You can't exclude this possibility.

Epic of Gilgamesh and the fact Enkidu was raised by animals

Yep I read it. But for me - someone who is raised by animals is Tarzan or Mowgli. Enkidu is a little more than that. I mean - he has got a few more important attributes. That's why I missed your remark.

As for the rest of four post (about censorship) - I completely lost the ball at this point. Of course I will analyze this thread for any clues, but it would be nice if you would tell me in plain English what do you men, please?

BTW - I would like to thank ever one who contributed to this thread.
It was not what I expected, but nonetheless - I learned something.
THX, guys

UK, Ireland / No job unless you're Polish [201]

My reasons are rather complicated, but the shortest answer is: I think that I owe someting to this country. I also think that the UKIP postulates are exactly what is the best for the UK.

Even if eventually the UKIP would turn against me (ie if they decide to enter a more populist and anti-immigrant way) - it's a risk worth to take.

maximum - dictionary.cambridge.org/define.asp?key=49358&dict=CALD

Always happy to help.

The Chinese wouldn't need to come here. They simply send everything what is your ethical and fair British company can produce but at cheaper price. And I am sure that the British people would choose more affordable option. That's enough.

And I would be grateful if you will cut down the amounts of epithets. I like good discussion but there shall be some boundaries.
