It's not a pack of lies or dirty propaganda, seriously that what i've been told, you might not believe, but there is no reason no lie,
Do`t believe everything what people tell you because they might distort the reality for some reason, I don`t know what.
This is "what you've been told". I support Pawian's views. Poles and Russians come along well,
I wish very much that Poles and Russians can come to Poland or Russia and have good relationship...
It is happening in real life.
It has just come to my mind what else Poles owe to Russians. I think it is a kind of respect. What do I mean?
Common Westerners, like Germans, French, American, British etc consider Poles unruly barbarians from the East. They know nothing about Poland and feed on old stereotypes of Polish poverty, anarchy and stupidity. What is worse, they are not interested to find out what Poland/Poles are like. Only a few individuals from western nations (BB, for example, :):):)), have a grasp of Polish reality through various media or even real life in Poland.
On the other hand, in a common Russian`s view, Poles are equal and the same as Russians. After all, we are Slavs from the same root and we do share certain similarities, starting from the language.
What is more, a lot of Russians consider us Westerners. A few years ago I read a story about a low-rank Russian official who went abroad for the first time and, commenting on the visible development and progress made by our country, said that it was what he had imagined rich Western Europe should look like.
In communism, Polish culture - books, films, TV serials, art, music - was known not only to Russian intelligentsia but also common Russians. Polish actresses or female singers are still remembered today.
Only Polish ballet was thought of badly.
