When I look at history I see examples of people converting to other cultures: the Germans converted to the Scotch-Irish culture when they went to the American South.
The Italians in Argentina became like the Spanish-Argentines, etc. Czechs and Silesians have become an awful lot like Germans. Yet not even the Lithuanians want to be like us. What is so onerous about being Polish that makes us the butt of European jokes?
We'll see how quickly and easily the Syrians will integrate with Germans or British people. There is a high price tag for being popular (country-wise) - popular countries sooner than later become the victims of their own success by attracting the less fortunate people who manage to make these countries less desirable over time. Compare the US to Mexico - 20-30 years ago only desperados living/working in the US would think about permanent moving to Mexico; these days, when the standards of living in Mexico vs the US for an average tax payer is getting closer and closer (thanks to the 'leveling of the playing field'), more and more US residents consider moving to Mexico or to Latin America in general. Same happens to France, Italy, Greece now and Germany, Sweden, UK is going to be next. So Poland - whether done on purpose or not - is pretty smart about not being bully about 'Polonization' or whatever its called; staying in the shadow means survival in the long term.
I'm speaking about European peoples integrating amongst each other. Poland has tried to bully itself on neighbors but was always repulsed successfully. The culture is considered inferior and toxic by fellow Europeans.
The Italians in Argentina became like the Spanish-Argentines, etc.
Not really. They speak a crap spanish (probably just not worse than the Chilean Spanish) with a sicilian accent that sounds like an extremelly drunk person.
Also they behave like Sicilians and South Brazilians (also italian colonization), in a way very different than the other Spanish-speaking latin nations.
Actually i think that the Poles adapted much more quickly. My country received a lot of Poles and they adapted very quickly. Many of them became successful writers (Paulo Leminski, Leandro Narloch), businessman (Samuel Klein), Supreme Court Ministers (Teori Zawaski), and one of then even became president (the second best president of our history, Juscelino Kubyczek).
So no way to compare the Poles with the Illegal Immigrants burning cars at Europe.
Polish stock is benign compared to gypsies or muslims. obviously. I'm speaking of cultural prominence among nations. In Europe, Polish culture is at the bottom end of the totem pole, and people loath Polonization even more than Russification. Polish ways are considered crass, uncultured and cruel. Particularly by their neighbors: Germans, Silesians, Slovaks and Lithuanians. Even Ukrainians find zero admiration for Polish culture.
Polish ways are considered crass, uncultured and cruel.
By extremelly stupid people.
The 4 cultures that i admire more in the earth are the Polish, Armenian, Assyrian and Jewish.
Why? Because besides ALL ODDs bet against then, and they suffered agressions from EVERY side, and EVERY neighbour, they still resisted in their traditions, way of life and beliefs.
It is very easy to talk about "British Culture" or "German Culture" when they had a very easy way through history and virtually no menace.
Now just lets see how those two will behave with the Mass Immigration being the first big menace to them. I bet that in few decades, both British and German culture will disappear.
Culture survival is Darwinist. If the Polish traditions resist so strongly until now even suffering so many aggressions, it is because have its benefits.
@Levi: Poland's fighting for their traditions!!! 'lol"! Everything is foreign created/financed. Kids go to McDo's, eat kebabs, pizza... drink coca cola, ..... You are not Polish, you don't live in Poland but you imagine your world ;).
Everything is foreign created/financed. Kids go to McDo's, eat kebabs, pizza... drink coca cola, ..... You are not Polish, you don't live in Poland but you imagine your world ;).
So the cultura aspects of a Population are for you what kids eat at the cinema?
It is easy to understand that, You are french :) A country destroyed by political correctness.
But have you ever been to a Christimas celebration with a Polish Family? Listened (and sang together if you speak polish, not my case) Christimas carols?
Have you ever spend time with a polish family during easter, or went to a Palm Sunday procession? Or celebrated St. Andrews day?
And i am not talking about all those things in Krakow or Warsaw, cities full of foreigners (like major cities in any country). I am talking about those things in real polish cities.
NO! You never. You can even lie here that you had, but will be just another of your lies.
By the way, you are the one that cry like a baby here all the time that Poles are not "politically correct" like the frenchies. (And yes, they are not, scre PC). That is probably the best aspect of their culture that proudly survives.
@Levy: I just gave a few examples among kids but also adults in Poland are completely westernized. Poland has become a sort of ... Western colony and hardly anything now is Polish. I live in Poland and close to EVERYTHING I buy comes from foreign companies. The only Polish things I do buy are potatoes and apples;). Most Poles are the same, they shop at foreign shops, and buy foreign products....Not hard to buy foreign in Poland since almost everything is foreign.
Sorry, but to say that Poles fight for their culture is the worst thing we can think of. It's rather the opposite, Poles let themselves swallowed in by the West.......
interesting that even the top 2 newspapers in the country, Fakt and Gazeta Wyborcza, are owned by foreigners (germans and americans respectively).
The hypermarkets are all foreigners (Kaufland, Carrefour, Tesco, Real, E.Leclerc, Auchan) as Biedronka, the #2 supermarket in the country, is owned by portoguese.
@Ekspat: I did not know that GW was American (are you sure?) but anyway, what is now Polish? If I were Polish, I would be very pi###ssed to have foreigners owning my country. I'm sure that a lot of Poles mind too...
If I were Polish, I would be very pi###ssed to have foreigners owning my country.
How do you think that happened ? Due to EU we supposedly benefit from that much. In China foreign banks or retail chains have barely any access to domestic market, in Poland feckers were getting subsidies for "foreign investors". Just tax them heavily and lower taxes for domestic SME, they will be gone within several years. Orban showed us all how to deal with these damn parasites.
You guys are ignoring the premise. Anything can SURVIVE, even a cockroach survives. I'm speaking of prominence and influence. The Scotch-Irish culture of America (including the crass pop culture entertainment), the German culture thrive and dominate. French culture is admired and imitated everywhere. We have no subtle persuasion at all. Our own women worship Italian men - these short, hairy ugly little goblins. We don't have a culture, unless you consider stubbornness a culture. Even our own church is not indigenous but native to Italy. We have zero cultural exports that anyone else adapts to. No one admires, nor respects us. We don't even like ourselves. We just hate everyone else.
If I were Polish, I would be very pi###ssed to have foreigners owning my country.
Half of the things in my country are owed by jewish foreigners.
And i am not even close to be angry with them. You know why? Because if it was not for them, those things would not exist since the majority of the Brazilians doesn't have the business spirit that they have.
The same applies to Poland. Foreigners owing some business is not something that menace your culture.
You know what menace your culture? Left-Wing multiculturalists that want to teach your kids that they are guilty just because they are White, Catholic and Heterossexual. THIS is what menace your culture.
So you want to tell me that Poles can design, produce and sell things like city buses to places like Dubai, trains to Germany, ships to Norway, telecommunication equipment to US Army or computer games to Japan (and most of the world) but somehow are not able to run food stores or retail banking in their own country ?
"Amazing how you and all the PiS lovers really want closer relations with Russia."
I don't want closer relations with Russia. I want neutral relations with Russia. To make them more friendly I would start with reducing oil & gas supply from there by half and ask If we will be friends now or should I go on down to 0. Such things define real relations, not some "hawkish" nonsense Sikorski was saying just pouring fuel on the fire.
No threat of that with good ol' trusty PiS at the helm. No-one ever said they want to imitate Orban lock stock and barrel. Hungary's apparent Russophilia is motivated strictly by that country's economic concrns, as the memory of 1956 remains vivid in the public mind. To patriotic Poles, Orban stands for defence of sovereignty and national interests, hence he is the bane of all rootless cosmopolitans, one-worlders and EU fanatics.
"Hungary's apparent Russophilia is motivated strictly by that country's economic concrns"
True. It hadn't come until EUnuchs and other nutjobs started threatening democratically elected Hungarian authorities with sanctions and such.
BTW isn't it funny that when Gerries or French are doing business with Russia (including strategic things like energy and weapons) it's all great and anyone criticizing that is "Russophobic" but then comes the story about evil Russian boogeyman whenever any country from the east don't treat Germanic dominated "union" like the 2nd coming ?
First, second, third, maybe fourth world -- these are all tired, clap-trap labels thought up by brainless hacks who feel they have to cubbyhole everything. Most EU governments are for the EU unless in a given case that runs counter to their own country's national interests and then they soon change their tune and begin promoting their own national causes, Germany and France are no exception.
We export nothing. Nothing except apples and potatoes. We have nothing to offer the world. We cough without covering our mouths. We believe in an archaic superstition (the RC church). We cut others while queuing. We aren't even a little bit hospitable. We back stab one another constantly. We are brutes, nothing more. Why can't we progress?
We export nothing. Nothing except apples and potatoes.
and lots of machinery and Medical devices, there are many polish companies that extract oil from all over the world, my aunt is working in a clinic in saudi arabia and they want to buy a quite expensive laser device for skin treatment from £ódż .
You have polish companies like CCC who are expanding in neighboring countries (in both western and eastern europe)
Polish wódka is been sold worldwide and is getting more and more popular since it's cheaper and has a great quality (even in Syria you can find sobieski and wyborowa and people are preferring these vodkas over absolut and smirnoff)
Maybe Polish culture isn't being exported , but Poland does export lots of things
We cut others while queuing
I beg to differ
We aren't even a little bit hospitable.
maybe not for immigrants but the poles are very hospitable for visitors
'Only' apples and potatoes.. When the SHTF, people will be killing on the streets to get these goods. The progressives don't even know how food is made and when it comes from (but they know how to use the latest iPhone or what Kardashian ate for lunch today). Progressive nations export debt, wars, and abortion culture. They offer garbage / deviated culture to the world. Compare an average progressive graduate to a graduate from a normal nations (like Poland or other centrist or right-wing countries) - the intelligence and the IQ level are far apart.
Do you want Poland to progress to what, particularly? Even if most Poles wanted to be progressive, Poland cannot afford it (we have to actually pay debts and cannot create unlimited money out of nothing).
"First, second, third, maybe fourth world -- these are all tired, clap-trap labels"
They define the status of a countries economy and I suspect Poland's economy has regressed from the sophisticated level in reached before 1940 to that of a directionless leaderless second world country .
And the arab troll aside, who is just here to look for a blonde Polish wife, everyone else hit on a few good spots. Why do we want relations with Russia? No one has raped us more than Russians. They are backward tatar savages. Why don't we try to emulate the successful countries like Germany, Denmark and Norway?
Sometimes I wish I was something else other than Polish. In private other Poles admit this, but will never admit it in public.
