I am trying to obtain more information on my stepfather, who was in the polish army, but when I was 15 years old he told me that he was a prisoner of war in Italy and that an italian woman rescued him, who he married. How can I find out more details of this rescue. He was a sergeant and I have his service #.
My Polish stepfather was a prisoner of war in Italy (trying to obtain more information?)

reva,
I don't guarantee this will help, but it may be a starting point. I have two suggestions.
1.) I have heard of the Polish Red Cross Tracing Service (traces WWII living & dead free of charge)
Biuro Poszukukiwan' Polski Czerwony Kryz'
ul. Mokotowska 14; 00-950 Warsaw, Poland
phone: (48-22) 326-1264 fax (48-22) 628-4248 .pck.org.pl/poszukiwania/;
tracing.service@pck.org.pl
2.) Anyone looking for things regarding "Military" info may want to get the packet put out by the
Polish Genealogical Society of America----Military Packet about $3.00
it contains about 13 pages with various sources and explanations regarding the Polish Military.
just google Polish Genealogical Society of America and go to their website to order from them.
