She was my great grandmother. Wealthy fashion designer and I can't find anything about her.

If you google Zosia Cytryn (the way you wrote it is certainly incorrect) something comes up. There are also names of people who are probably family members. Unfortunately something very sad; it's a reference to the Warsaw Ghetto.

It's almost certainly an ł. It's pronounced like a w, but older people sometimes pronounce it mid way between an l and a w, so Stanisław.

There are very few aristocrats from Poland, lot's of szlachta, which some people describe as nobles and others describe as gentlefolk (lots of discussion on here over the years) but few of them were titled since they were all theoretically equal to each other. They did however have their own special traditions etc. Since the name Hovhedlinger isn't Polish, he could well have been an aristocrat whose title derived from elsewhere.

It's very possible that your great grandmother isn't the same Zosia Cytryn that is on the list of people in the ghetto. Zosia, by the way, is short for Zofia.

It's definitely the same Zosia. And I know it's Zofia as well. Her fam grew up in the ghetto. I want to know more about my grandma's patus. Stanisław Romuald Hovhedlinger

CYTRYN: probably from cytryna (lemon) or short for cytryniarka (lemon vendor). This calls to mind the 1880s Gierymski oil painting called 'Żydówka z cytrynami' (Jewess with lemons).

But I don't understand how Stanisław Ćytryń and Zofia Ćytryń had the same last name when they were so young, and then had a child and he ended up being called Hochhedlinger. I'm confused

I got that last post wrong. The Stanisław in the ghetto was not her husband....

His name was Stanisław Romuald Hochedlinger. A quick google search even without his middle name, and many pages show up. However I can't read Polish/Polski. I'm very interested to learn about him, I would ask his daughter (my grandmother) but I haven't had a chance. She said he was an aristocrat or maybe a "gentle folk".
