You need dual citizenship, is what you need - and it ain't gonna happen by October 30. Sorry.

First you should do a procedure called verification of citizenship. It takes about 3-4 weeks, maybe shorter, costs 58 zł. Then you will know if you are Polish or not. You don't apply for citizenship - it is rather verified if you are one or not. One of the circumstances is if at least one of your parents was a Polish citizen at the time of you being born, did not loose or resign the citizenship too. Then you are Polish. You can do it in Urząd Wojewódzki or ask at your local Polish consulate.

Hi Maggyz

He's right you know, I'm in the middle of getting the right to buy proprty in Poland and this is now going on for a whole 12 months, I have 100% blood decendants but by hell you've got to proove this beyond doubt.

Another big thing is Poland do's not do duel nationality it's Polish or not.

But good luck....... :0)

I'd say there isn't much of a chance, it took me around 3 months before I got the confirmation of citizenship, and that was whilst I was in Poland ringing up and pestering them every week.

Merged: Dual nationality

Due to the Brexit vote I have decided to apply for Polish dual nationality. My father was Polish so I understand I am entitled. For those of you you who have been through the process is it difficult? Any useful tips and where do I start? Thank you in anticipation.

Hi Olaf,

I was wondering if you have current knowledge of this process and are able to offer any advice as to the best way of proceeding please. I understand that the consulate has altered its procedures now and that all such verification requests need to be undertaken by means of an advocate. Is this correct or am I being misinformed.

I was born in the UK to a polish father who came to the UK as a member of the Carpatian Brigade during ww2.

Hope you are able to help.

Thanks speaking as an as yet unrecognised Polish citizen.

John

Wanda,

I was looking at this thread before you posted exactly the right question for me also. Would it be possible for you to share with me what you receive and learn and I will do the same for you. This might save Olaf some unnecessary admin!

Merged: obtaining a polish passport

Message for dolnoslask

Please could you send me information as you have done for others.
Essentially I'm a British passport holder born UK of Polish parents who were never naturalised.
I am interested in applying for a Polish passport and also one for my daughter.
Any rough idea about time scale and cost would be appreciated.

Hi dolnolask,
My parents are Polish - came here after the war. I was born in the U.K.
I would like to try for dual citizenship.
Can you please copy me on the useful information you have to apply.

If parents were born in poland you are a polish citizen. Just need to prove all that to them. It's really easy. Get specific info locally.
