I took a look on Polish genealogy pages there are only a few people listed with that last name, facebook is popular in Poland also, if you're looking for a relative there are 68 results... facebook.com/family/Mi%C4%99tek/1

MIĘTEK: root-word either mięta (mint, the herb) or miętki (dialectal for miękki = soft), ergo perhaps 'softie'.
